Well now, that had caused her ears to perk up when she heard what he had to say. Living with humans–it would be something different, but it meant a home to live in and food to eat as well as come company to keep her entertained, what was there to go wrong?
Her tail began to wag as she yipped a few times to sound that she was perfectly fine with him taking her in, unaware that he had a roommate–but at the same time she would have thought it not to be a problem, beings as though she was just a pup–a pup the size of a fully grown beagle that was and who would only grow as time goes by.
But for now, just a hungry little pup.
it wasn’t at all long before he was at the counter of the local meat market, exchanging what minimal change he had for several pounds of uncooked meat. he figured he ought to buy as much as he could, considering he'd no clue as to how long the pup had gone without food; for all he knew, the poor thing could have been starving for days on end, without any sort of looking after. he couldn’t stand the thought.
‘ well, as promised! here’s hoping it’ll last for a good bit. ’
he surrendered a portion of his purchase before stuffing the remainder of it into his satchel. a moment of silence ensued before he abruptly clapped his palm against his head in sudden realization.
‘ for heaven’s sake, i haven’t even formally introduced myself, now, have i? you’ll have to forgive me. my name is ‘ arlo ’. i get it’s a bit unusual, but i’ve grown to like it. ‘
( x.ᴀʀɪᴀɴᴀ ):
Ariana stops for a moment, turns, and gives Arlo a bright smile. The city streets are still busy, even at this time of night, when most have found their homes for the night or are leaving in search of something better than their own lives, at least for the night.
“I’ll order them up when we get inside, then. It’ll be my treat. And just about everyone’s an ass when they’re drunk. It’s just in how the other person deals with it. I’ve been taken care of enough times I know what to expect from most drunk people, but that’s up to you.”
She shrugs, turns back around, and crosses a street, looking every way for cars and to make sure Arlo was still following her.
“It’s just up here.”
Ariana can see the neon lighting spilling onto the street, advertising the name.
despite the tumultuous lot of citizens bustling about, and an immeasurable amount of elbow collisions, arlo managed a reasonable distance between him and ariana. thankfully, her voice was well within earshot ( dulled slightly by the street’s a-chatter of foreign conversation, but distinguishable enough from his position ). he caught a glimpse of her smile and, naturally, his own widened tremendously.
‘ now, i believe i am wholly responsible for any favours owed. you’ve done so much for me already and i could not–in good conscience–have you wasting any money on me! oh, well, i couldn’t begin to imagine what horror stories you must have, then. ‘
arlo brushed past the remainder of the crowd in order to accompany ariana to the entrance of the lounge. once there, he opened the door and beckoned her forward with his free hand, his smile never faltering for a second.
The cure for a heart is to move along.

( x.ᴀʀɪᴀɴᴀ ):
She throws her words over her shoulder as she speaks, moving leisurely down the sidewalk, taking in the neon lights permeating the dark around her and spilling out onto the street, seeming to color the surface of the asphalt. She raises her voice to be heard both above the cars on the street next to them and because she’s now turned away from the man she’s addressing.
“They’re pretty much to die for. The jalapeño poppers are probably my favorite. Perfect ratio of pepper to cheese sauce. But I said the bartender can make any drink, didn’t I? I wasn’t just talking about alcoholic ones.”
Not that she judged anyone for abstaining from the drink. Perhaps she could do with keeping away from it a bit more, judging by her constant fragile mental state. And even at Arlo’s admission, Ariana found herself rethinking her own choices. She had only had a single drink with dinner an hour or two before, and told herself it was all she needed. Maybe she was right. Plus, it had been ages since Ariana had indulged in her childhood. A Shirley Temple wasn’t hard to make.
arlo followed close behind, listening intently to every word. careful to mind his step, he centered his focus partly on the sky, which he couldn’t help but notice was remarkably gorgeous at this time of night. he freed his hands from his pockets only to cross them behind his head, visibly mesme- rized as the evening colours amalgamated with one another.
though his attention was otherwise induced, not once did it ever fully deviate from ariana. as she went on about the selection of appetizers, he nearly found himself salivating. and in his stomach, a painful churning began to take hold, reminding him that he hadn’t eaten in a good while. he’d been occupied all hours of the day, and supposed the need for food had slipped his mind. as the pain dulled into a series of muffled rumbles, arlo scolded himself for forgetting such a simple act of preservation. though, at least, he’d the opportunity to rectify this mishap.
‘ goodness, now you’ve certainly captured my attention! i must sample these poppers. they sound absolutely stunning! oh, certainly. thank heaven for that. i’d be more obliged to spare you the awkwardness of my inebriate behaviour, if i may. ‘
( x.ɢʀᴜʙ ):
Following along, she too was rather excited to get food, it had been days since last she had a morsel to eat, so this was truly a blessing for the young beast.
But then a question that she was hoping would never come to pass; but yet here she was giving another yip to tell him that she was rather alone in this wide world–her pack had long been killed; she was all that remained of the group. She had luckily made it out of the fight thanks to her mother keeping her out of sight–however it was now that she was wishing that she had fought along; but what could a two month old Warg do against an army of men?
Nothing. So she stayed out of sight until the battle was over and mourn her fallen family in quiet as she ran away.
So no, she had nobody–she was alone.
it wasn’t long before arlo noticed the pup’s abrupt downcast in response to his query, prompting a look of instant regret. though he hadn’t an exact idea of what happened to the pup, he presumed it was something terribly traumatic based on the response he was given. nonetheless, arlo’s solemn demeanor is short lived, for he thought it best to focus on happier matters.
‘ well! whatever the case, it would be highly unprincipled of me to leave you all by your lonesome. perhaps... you could stay with me in my quarters? that is until you’re fit enough to be out on your own. now, does that sound feasible? ‘
arlo had a prolonged history of housing animals, feral or not, so he would have no issue accommodating the young pup. though, of course, there was the near certainty of receiving a harsh rebuke from his pompous roommate, who’d rather their home ‘ divested of any wild beasts ’. regardless, he was determined to make it work.
( x.ᴀʀɪᴀɴᴀ ):
Was that a blush heating up her cheeks? God, why did this always happen to her? He was a stranger – albeit a cute one – and here she was blushing on a street corner because this cute stranger had accepted her offer of drinks. In a lounge. If they were going to a club, she would feel a bit different, but she shouldn’t even be nervous. So why did she feel exactly that?
Ariana shook her head and focused on the moment at hand instead of retreating into her own thoughts. That was for when she was home alone, not when she was amongst a bustling city street corner. She beckons to Arlo, turning her back to him, but keeping her eye on him over her shoulder.
“You’re cute, I’ll give you that. I know this cozy little lounge a few blocks this way. Their bartender can make just about any drink you can think of, and their appetizers are perfect for when you’re hungry but don’t want a full meal. Plus, they have reasonable prices for a place lookin’ so snazzy.”
suddenly the man felt a bit of warmth in his cheeks. though not at all a stranger to the occasional compliment, arlo had always found himself sweltering in response to hearing them. he laughed at the minor dwindle of his composure, casually pocketing his hands and swaying slightly on his feet. it was a crying shame this sort of encounter was such a rarity.
despite how unmistakably nonchalant his personality seemed, he was hardly ever given the time for leisure. much of his schedule only ever consisted of business, and at times, it could be a little overbearing. so, he decided that these fleeting moments of freedom and merriment would not be laid to waste.
‘ my, those appetizers sound splendid right about now. though i must confess, i’m not that much of a drinker. no, i’m afraid i’ve abstained from the habit for quite some time. far too pungent for my tastes. ‘
( x.ɢʀᴜʙ ):
So, her name would be Grub then–wouldn’t be the worst thing she had been called in her young life. Mongrel, mutt, anything that people who own market stores would call a canine who was stealing their food–so this name that the man gave her would suffice as she gave a yip as if understanding what he said.
But then he had given her his half of the bread and she graciously took it and gulped it down within moments of him handing it over. Still her stomach rumbled inside her body as she was still looking around for more to eat. And as he spoke, there was excitement in her eyes for he just made her heart leap with joy as she gave a few more barks–tail wagging behind her as she did so.
He was going to get her food, of course she was going to go with him!
visibly content with his choice, arlo started forward. it wasn’t any sort of inconvenience to pay a visit to the local market, seeming as though it was hardly out of the way. in fact, he found the ordeal rather exciting! it wasn’t everyday that he had the pleasure of making a new friend. and he had to confess that he more than valued the company.
as the two carried down the walkway there was rarely ever a moment of silence. arlo had always possessed an inherent interest in the art of speaking, thus he would never in his life squander an opportunity to chatter about trivial matters of the day, despite how often he was chastised for doing so. naturally, he carried on, and in the midst of his vivified spiel, he was hit with a sudden realization.
‘ i must say, my friend, you look awfully young. is it possible that you’ve gotten yourself lost? surely you’ve some sort of family? parents? i would hate to think that you’ve been alone all this time! ‘

Continued from Here @utopianiism
She didn’t have a concept of sharing at the current time, only that she wanted his food and would do anything she could to obtain it–and yes that meant climbing up on the table to retrieve the morsel if it came down to that.
But luckily it didn’t and the man just offered her the food without having to beg for it much, that was nice of him–however she didn’t think on that long as she took hold of the bread that was given and within a few moments it was down her gullet and into her stomach.
But she was still hungry, she needed more food if she was to grow, and a slice of bread wouldn’t do her much good–she needed meat.
oddly enough, arlo had no recollection of seeing any- thing akin to the creature before, yet he didn’t dwell on the oddity of it for long. the fact of the matter was that he was met with a hungry face and hadn’t at all the conscience to turn it away. keeping that in mind, he surrendered what remained of his bread.
‘ good lord, i haven’t even any idea what to call you. well, since you’ve gone and eaten all the grub that i’ve got on me, i suppose that ought to be a fitting enough title, yeah? ’
though of course, it would be foolish to think that bread alone would be enough to sustain a growing pup, thus arlo rummaged in his pockets in search of any leftover cash he might have to purchase a more adequate meal for his newfound friend. thankfully, he managed a reasonable enough sum with what he had on hand.
‘ well, grub, i best be on my way to get you something sufficient! of course, you’re more than welcome to accompany me, if you’d like. ’
( @toshiro-hitsugaya-ice-warrior )
‘ listen, it seems like we could both use some lightening up, yeah? a few minutes out of the day couldn’t do us any harm. relaxation, lad. ‘should give it a burl. ’
it was only natural of arlo to mitigate the gravity of the situation the two were in. it seemed his lighthearted nature always got the better of him, but then again his easygoing propensities were seldom a hindrance to the issue at hand. they were only ever used to heighten the morale of his comrades and reduce the strain of their duty. he knew that in the long run, it could only help.
‘ y’know–and forgive me for prying, but this– origami or... whatever the bloody thing is called... you never quite told me about it. what is that, exactly? ’
@utopianiism tbh I am v happy to see you gracing my dash again 😍😍

He was cute, Ariana had to give him that. Strange, yes, but cute. Not that strange was anything new to her, she was perfectly strange herself, but there were degrees of strange. Ariana had seen a lot of them, both similar and entirely different from her own. But drinks were something she knew well, something entirely not strange to her.
Arlo pinches the bridge of his nose in some attempt to hide something, Ariana thinks, but the thought is quickly pushed aside as she pays attention to what he was saying. Then she smiles.
“Oh, don’t worry about that, I know this city pretty well. I guess it just depends on what sort of mood you’re in. I’m sure I know a lounge that can accommodate.”
a night on the town seemed more than an adequate means of detachment from work. in fact, it was quite compelling considering the company. the juxtaposition of his previous encounter with his most recent was enough to make him smile, a countenance attributed to the immense gratitude and relief he felt in her presence. it was as if a weight had been lifted from from his shoulders, and he was finally free to express himself genuinely. he could always appreciate that.
‘ well, thank heaven for that! i swear, the only solace in this evening is that i get to spend a fraction of it with someone as lovely as yourself. as for any suggestion i might have, i’m as flexible as they come! though some- what of a modest setting would be favourable. i’ve had all the action that i can possibly stomach, today, i’m afraid. '
pardon my shitty editing but photoshop is being a butthole & refusing to download again. anyway!!
holy shit guys. two years. two years. i’ve had this blog with me for two whole years. it’s crazy!! i can’t believe i’ve had two whole years with this wild nerd child & all of you people have stuck with me (whether you’ve been here the whole two years, just a part of a year, or you just got here). you’re all amazing oh my gosh. i never would have thought i would have stuck with a muse this long (since it’s a record now) nor did i think i ever would have gained this many followers (six hundred).
so because i don’t want to clog people’s dashes any further than i already have with this huge graphic, the rest is below the cut!

She wants food, she needs food, do you have food stranger because she would very much love you if you had something for her to eat.
it was early in the day and the man hadn’t anywhere to be nor any sort of obligation at this hour, so he had opted to indulge in a light snack. alone he sat, in the the familiar comforts of nature, when he felt a nudge against his sleeve. he turned to see a suspicious snout gradually nuzzling its way into his grip.
‘ nah, ah!! ay! now this is MY hard earned meal! ‘
admittedly, arlo had an innate affinity for animals. though perhaps he was merely drawn to their curious tendencies; after all, he was quite the maverick himself.
‘ well, i suppose i haven’t got a problem with sharing. do seem overdue for a bite to eat; you look starved! ‘
hastily, he tears the remains of his bread into equal proportions for both himself, as well as the covetous pup, extending an arm with a good-sized piece of it in hand.
