Dr.Wangari Maathai was born April 1, 1940. She grew up in Nyeri, a village in Kenya, where she began her education with the support of her family. She had great love for the trees of Kenya, but she noticed the degradation of the environment around 1970. Dr.Wangari is best known for her achievement of the Green Belt Movement, where millions of trees were replanted in Kenya. She was also the first African woman to receive a doctorate degree. Dr.Wangari died of cervical cancer in 2011, but the millions of trees she helped replant will live on with her memory.
Randi Hoyt is always in search of new ways to make her work better. She loves to experiment with format and creating emotion with color. Using the environment and character to create an emotional tether that is relatable is what she strives for. She believes that living an extraordinary life will help create extraordinary work.
