Its actually so important to me that Ryland Grace is a teacher. Not a professor, not someone at the top of their field teaching the smartest people, but a middle school science teacher. Of course he figured out how to communicate with an alien in under a day. His main expertise is explaining complex subjects to a group that doesnt have the vocabulary or context to fully understand them. He knows exactly how to simplify things down to its core principles without sacrificing any of the scientific logic. And he knows how to do it without having to throw around hyperspecific terminology.

Actually, I’ve been planning to translate the whole interview with Terajima-sensei but it’s too long and I won’t be done translating it any time soon, so I only translated the part I found interesting (btw, it’s from this official Chrisawa/Miyusawa guide book):

Interviewer: When it turned out that Chris didn’t make it to the first string, Eijun was really devastated. I even felt like like he would never recover…

Terajima: The scene where Miyuki said that he’ll make Sawamura recover maybe reflected my own feelings: “You [*Miyuki] are the No.1 catcher! You have to fix this.” In fact, I didn’t expect Sawamura and Chris’ bond to become this strong, so I was like “Miyuki, you have to show more presence” (lol). It was only then that he started showing his actual hairstyle that has been covered by his cap up until that time. I really tried my best to draw him as good-looking as possible (lol)

So according to sensei this scene in ch38 was basically

Miyuki “Oh shit I gotta take my cap off and show my true hairstyle and become the hottest guy in Seidou to draw Sawamura’s attention from Chris-senpai to me” Kazuya.
