Natural Makeup in Witchcraft

🌛So I am an advocate of making your own items. However I also know not everyone has the talent or the patience to do so and there isn’t anything wrong with that at all! However, there are some awesome usages in witchcraft for makeup! Most of these are easier if you are making it yourself. 🌜

For example, you could make your own lip tint/lipstick/lip balm and use herbs, plants and more that hold various magical and medicinal property’s for what ever enchantment that you are attempting to accomplish. For lip makeup you could do an enchantment for courage to speak or even to make sure that what you say is eloquently said.

Or

You could make eyeshadow to help keep you from being blinded by your own lust when searching for love or even help see truth when you think someone is lying to you.

The possibilities are absolutely endless! The only caution I would have for this is be mindful of your own allergies and anything that could be poisonous to you.

Most makeup, in its simpler form, is relatively easy to make. Don’t forget to have fun!!!

Here is a few ideas for a lip balm and eyeshadow for the bases. Then you guys can take it from there with coloring! Most of the natural makeup that you can make will be a one to one ratio to start with. So for example If I am making apple cider with wine so for every single liter of apple cider, I will have one liter of wine. From there you can adjust the ratios of everything for your preference in color pigmentation.

For the eyeshadow:

I suggest using arrowroot powder to help control the lightness of the coloring and activated charcoal to darken the coloring or even coco powder depending on what other things you are using. Mix that and what you are using to color the eyeshadow all together with a very small amount of either Shea butter or coconut oil. The rest is up to you I would keep q safe distance from things like say red pepper for this but most herbs and spices are perfectly fine to use.

For the lip balm use a little coconut oil and then whatever color tint you like. Some people use things like beets for a deep reddish-pink coloring and then flavor with something sweet.

Just keep in mind that some things will stain your skin. So unless you want your lips to be something like I don’t know blue/purple, I wouldn’t use something like powdered blueberries. (However if you do a good way to get it off is with lemon juice if you can stand it.)

Ok so the other day I made these. I thought to myself this would be an awesome place to hide my charms and energy traps that go outside. You sure don’t have to make them like mine but the idea is the same, go to target if you have one these were in the three dollar section. I got some paints out of my cabinet and found a few anchor patterns for inspiration. I’m going to hang these on the back of my house for general decorations but for my home protections I may make more. :)

Never forget to use all of the resources around you my little witchlings.

Cleansing spaces and/or items

When you cleanse an item, how you do it depends on for most what it is made of. Secondly, it depends on what is available to you. Lastly, it depends on what works best for you. You don’t want to cleanse something in water if it will dissolve in water. Or cleanse something with smudging, if you don’t want that item to hold the smell of whatever herbs and spices you use. Also, don’t cleanse something with fire if it’s flammable or will melt.

The biggest step to take before cleansing anything in any way is to cleanse yourself. You can do this with smoke or with a nice bath/shower. I find that cleansing both physically and mentally sometimes goes hand in hand. (You can soak in herbs as well to help physically and mentally cleanse yourself.)

When cleansing a space, ritual or home space, it just depends on what works best for you. I prefer to mix methods. Sometimes I do a simple space cleansing with a little smudging and then other times I deep clean. I first clean everything with my household cleaners. Then I run over everything with herbal cleansing water that I have blessed. Then with carpet I mist the carpet with the herbal infused blessed water all over the carpet to cleanse it on an energy level and then I go through and steam clean it or vacuum it when it’s dry. After that’s done I tend to open up the entire space to the outside and let the air circulate for a bit. Then I meditate pushing any negative energy out with my own energy, then I replace the negative energy (this naturally will build up in a living space just like dirt and grime) with positive and I normally reset and recharge my wards and protective charms during this time as well.

However you choose to cleanse your items and your spaces like most things in witchcraft, most things work best the more they resonate with you. I like to clean so naturally my deep cleanse is a little involved. Most people don’t need or want to go that involved and there is not one thing wrong with it!

Buying VS Making

So any item made by you whether it is a spell or charm or other magical working. These items and tools tend to be more able to attune to you, your magick and your intent. These objects also tend to charge better and take spells easier.

That is not to say however that buying your items are bad per say, but, that the tools tend to be easier to work with. No one and I mean no one expects you to go out, find a forge, mine your metals, learn how to make and engrave all of your ritual knives by hand. (Unless you want to) Most witches purchase these items. All I can say to buying an item is to just make sure you cleanse it before you use it and all should be well.

Listen up Witches

I just had the best idea ever! So everyone and their familiar talks about trying to incorporate a little bit of color correspondence into your magical workings to give your magic a solid little boost. And a lot of times that’s easier said than done, especially when you’re a witch on a budget and you can’t exactly afford a whole rainbow’s worth of votive candles on the regular. So without further adieu may I introduce you to these little beauties:

That’s right my little Witchlings I’m talking about paint swatches! These bad boys come in pretty much any color imaginable and the best part is you can usually find them for free in the home project section of basically any store! True you have to pay for like the big books and stuff, but companies literally hand these guys out for free on a wall… in rainbow assortment, because it’s advertisement and it helps guarantee you’ll buy their specific version of blue.

They’re just paper too! So you can burn them, bury them, chop them into confetti for jars and sachets, or even write a sigil or intent your hoping to activate on them!

And you know what, actually? I lied about the best part. The best part is that each of these little squares aren’t just ‘some version of green for my next money spell’ they’re all named things like Apple Orchard and Pink Honesty Rose and Always Timeless. So you don’t just have colors you have names too, and names hold a power that certainly can’t hurt when it comes to inter-sectional magic, and helping weave your spells together as seamlessly on this plane as on an astral level.

~Warding and Charms~

~~Before I get into this subject, never ever ever depend on only one form of protection if you are in danger from someone. I don’t care who it is. If you fear for your life or think you are in danger, always depend on every form of protection that you think you need. If you have an abusive ex or a stalker or someone is trying to murder you go to the police. They may not be able to do everything so don’t just depend on them either; tell your family so they know. Get some personal protection, including your magick. Magick is a way of life and a wonderfully powerful tool to help in these situations. Just don’t make it the only failsafe that you have.~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whether you need to ward or charm your spell crafting area, property, home or apartment, wards and charms can come in handy and can be done in so many different ways. Wards and charms are put into place in order to help protect you from both magical and mundane problems and/or evils. There are legitimately thousands of ways to ward or protect your home. There is however not a thing more powerful than something that you believe in. Personally I take the slightly paranoid approach. I use a combination of energy wards (sigil warding), witches ladders, spirit traps, a few witches bottles, a variety of charms and of course old fashioned salt lines.

Energy wards can be put basically anywhere, but I tend to put those across windows, doors and mirrors. You can use anything that you need in order to put them there. Sometimes I just use my incense to draw my sigils, sometimes I use herb paste and other times I’ll use white chalk. I use these physical devices to help create a visual focus point for my spells. Not everybody needs these or wants to use these visual aspects, and that is okay.

When using crystals, use the ones that have protection properties and luck properties (everyone needs a little luck). You can use hematite (also spelled haematite) to absorb ground and protect Tigers eye to block and shield, Quartz in order to amplify other crystal properties or absorb energy, and selenite to cleanse all of the other crystals while they are actively working. With this you can create crystal grids across windowsills or you can make one on a table or shelf. Anywhere that it won’t be disturbed until you wish it to be. (If anyone wants help with crystal grids, let me know.)

With all of your other protective charms or creations, place them by or buried near entrances. With witches bottles of you have property burry on your property line. If you have an apartment with a balcony, on the balcony burry your witches bottle within a potted plant.

Salt lines are just that lines of salt powered with intent, you can also use crystals for this. I tend to use this to assist in visualizing my circle of protection and power. If you have a door mat, this is a wonderful place to put sigils. I recommend white or black paint, but, you can also use your favorite color. Using your favorite color for things like protecting your home is like enforcing the fact that it’s your space. This is because that color can be a representation or extension of you. This is why I said that the strongest forms of protection are going to come from things that you believe in.

On that note with any of your wards, charms or other magical workings you can make them as visible or invisible as you wish. I will always recommend invisible or unnoticeable if you live in a shared living space or apartment building. Only because you never know what someone believes. (Especially in the bible belt)

Don’t forget to recharge and/or (depending on what it is) replace your magical wards and charms as needed.
