She'd lost everything since losing Jackie. Vik treated her like a time bomb, holding her at arms length. She smoked across the street from Misty's shop, but could never bring herself to step inside.

The loneliness felt like a vacuum at her core, and she feared she could collapse at any moment, crushed by the slightest pressure - even the noise of the city around her.
