Upcoming College Lacrosse Games
This weekend, both Men and Women teams at ODU will begin their season. Both of them are looking to have huge seasons featuring a lot of new faces, but also some veteran contributors.
On Friday, the Women’s Lacrosse team at ODU will go against national powerhouse Louisville. In a transition year from the CAA to the Atlantic Sun Conference, the Monarchs will look to rebuild to prepare themselves for conference play that will, no doubt, test them. Their first opponent, Louisville has just come off of an 18-1 victory over Detroit. Look for the Monarchs to be a formidable opponent to the Cardinals, as they too feature a line up of great players, including V3 coaches Theresa Brady and Kallie McCormack. If you would like to see the game, game time will be at 6:00pm at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on ODU’s Campus.
On Saturday, the Men’s Lacrosse team at ODU will face in-conference rival, Longwood, at ODU. After finishing last season with a heartbreaking, one-goal loss in the first round of the playoffs, the Monarchs want to go even farther this year. They have the talent to do so with an incoming freshman class that the team has never seen before. Last year, the offense revolved around the attackmen. But after graduating two of the three starters at attack, look for the deep set of midfielders to play a huge role on offense. The ODU team also features V3 coaches Sean Cilimberg and Tyler Morgan. If you would like to see the game this Saturday, the game will be played at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on ODU’s campus at 5:30pm.
If you have the free time, watching lacrosse being played at a high level will help you in learning your own lacrosse skill set. When watching the games, you can see the whole field and watch how each movement in each play can change everything from someone turning the ball over to scoring a game-winning goal. As the season goes on, we will try to post through social media when and where games are being played locally, so everyone has the chance to view some high quality lacrosse without having to go very far.
