see previous chapter: prologue
This is your tenth year away from me, or possibly more, perhaps I lost you far earlier than I had previously ascertained. I’ve made the attempt of replaying every moment following up to that day, and kept losing my place. But what difference does it make? ten years? eleven, twelve? when you have been stolen and rearranged by your own making for so many years that I can only sit and watch my skin rot away from the sickness you inflicted on me. My bones feel as if they are glass, cold, thin and too small for my body. I can’t look at my own flesh without vomiting anything i’ve eaten anymore, would it be the same if I saw yours again? every part of my body is repulsive and I can only gasp for air until your voice snaps me out of it. Do you know that I search for it like a dog for a pathetic whistle? My legs tremble so badly when it happens and in the end I can only crawl and cry for you. The snipers witness it, of course, most if not everytime they wil—h-
“Your flight is tomorrow, you’ve packed everything, yes?” Agatha glanced back at you briefly, a servant pulling the door in front of you two open before she could walk right into it. “Yes ma’am but-”
“Do you know how to spell your new name correctly? didn’t.” She admitted, taking a seat on the plush velvet of the cabriole, her legs falling into place tilting to one side, knees and ankles together, one hand resting at her lap and the other snapping it’s fingers.
You took a seat opposite to her, fingers curling into the fabric of your skirt. “His ability would kill me the second he realises what i’m there for, would it not?”
The blonde watched the hot liquid pour into her teacup, one embroidered with orange, blue and pink flowers. Although you were certain the glass cost much more than it should, the flowers were badly drawn. From a distance, it simply appeared as if there were an overcrowd of them but now that you’re right in front of it there was nothing more than an endless seam of twirling lines.
“I wasn’t aware you had began to be so cowardly.” Her tone was friendly, playful. A smile plastered over her face, her eyes a tad squinted.
The sound of you gulping felt louder than it should, you could’ve sworn your breaths were taking up the entire room.
A sigh left her, looking down at her teacup as she closed her eyes with a gentle smile. “{name}, dear. No need to be so scared, I’ll handle it.” “handle it?” Her eyes peered back up, observing you.
“Yes, handle it. I’ve spoken with a lovely man who works for the Special Division, he promised me he’ll make sure nothing hurts your cute little face!” The last part came off more mocking than anything, really.
Her left arm reached out, perfectly straight as she closed one eye and tucking in her baby and ring fingers with her thumb up.
“If I suspect he’s catching on,” she started, tilting her head ever so slightly. “Boom!”
