I wake up, blink my eyes, roll over to grab my pillow, see the air conditioner is two degrees below what I set it at, and I get this... strange sense of deja vu. Like this day has happened before.
As I'm getting up I hear echoes of two women speaking, in my mind's eye like dream flashbacks.
"...lucky that she was left to die, or else we couldn't have grabbed her."
"I don't give a shit how much you bled for it. Will she live?"
"Stay by her. Your voice seems to help. We're even after this."
"I could owe you my life savings for all I care."
I don't know why I know the voice does help, or why I know I need to find the speaker.
Is this a hallucination? Or a really, really weird dream? Is any of it even real or am I blitzed out of my mind without even knowing it?

Here's my issue.
If I make any sort of out-of-line comment about Arquebus, if I don't publicly toe the company line, Snail will find out and I'm fucked. I'll be immediately sent for re-education. Doesn't matter how loyal I am; Snail hates me and is looking for any excuse to fuck me over.
And now, I'm needing to run extra cover for Swinburne to keep Snail from visiting his wrath on her, which is stretching me thinner than ever. Eventually I'm going to fuck up, make a mistake, and Snail will wind up sending me to re-education.
I already have so few memories of my time before Arquebus. I'm pretty sure Arquebus has been editing my memories, too; that's why I have the partitioned storage in my brain. I can't—I already have moral objections to re-education. I can't handle it happening to me.
