Hi! That’s very sweet of you to say! This isn’t something I’d normally do, but that’s a cute lil idea. I took a quick stab at it! (Also, I’m co-opting the term “drabble” for most things I write from now on)———It’s around dinner time. The sky is a pinkish red. The autumn air is crisp. And Clementine and Louis are sitting up on the wall, looking out into the quiet, yellowing woods. It’s her turn to keep watch, but he figured she could use some company. And he just finished a great story.
“Wait, you did what?” Clementine glances at Louis with an incredulous grin.
“Shot two of them. At the same time.” He smiles as he fires fingers guns into the distance. “Bang bang.”
Clementine laughs at that, “Has anyone ever told you you’re a terrible liar?”
He shrugs, “eh, once or twice.”
“Well this is the third time, then.”
“What?!” Louis smirks, “you saying you don’t believe me?”
She playfully punches his arm, “Not even a little.”
They both laugh until it becomes quiet again. Louis looks out into the trees with a lazy romantic grin and a distant look in his eyes. Then, three words leave his lips in a dreamy haze…
“I love you, Clem.” Louis chuckles, shaking his head. Suddenly he sits up straighter, wide-eyed, “…like you.”
“What?” Clem raises a brow, fighting a grin.
“I like… you. A lot. Is what I meant.”
“Because you’re so funny.”
“And– have good fashion sense.”
“Like– yeah! I– mean, that jacket? That …hat? Beautiful. Original. Like, what isn’t to lov--like about someone who, uhm…?”
“Hey Louis?” Clem cuts him off, grinning.
He sputters off with a relieved sigh, “Mhm, yeah?”
She leans in and kisses him gently, “I love you, too.”He pauses a moment before looking her in the eyes again.
“–that’s… what you just said.” He cringes, realizing, and shakes his head shyly, “but still. It’s true.”
Their faces linger close together for a moment longer. She looks at him with a playful smirk, “promise?”
He rests his hand on hers, smiling softly, “I promise.”
