Pair: Bucky Barnes x Filipino!Fem!reader
Summary: You decided to teach bucky some tagalog word's and find it adorable how he's struggling for each word.
Note: This just came in my mind, mostly a what if like so i decided to just went on and on with my thoughts. Thank my brother to also give me further ideas. Also excuse my grammar if it's so bad.
It was another day—another day for both you and Bucky to continue your Tagalog lessons, picking up where you had left off yesterday.
Everything had started as a simple idea. At first, you only wanted to teach your boyfriend a few Tagalog words for fun, but now it had turned into an entire lesson class for Bucky.
You were relaxing on your shared bed, resting against the headboard while scrolling through your phone, looking at whatever caught your interest. However, as soon as you heard the bathroom door open, your attention immediately shifted.
Your boyfriend stepped out wearing only his boxers, a towel draped around his neck.
Of course, all of your attention went straight to him. You quickly sat up from your relaxed position and crossed your legs instead.
Bucky noticed you staring at him with the usual grin he already knew too well. There was no escaping it, though he didn't really complain. He shook his head, unable to hide the small smile tugging at his lips.
He didn't bother putting on clothes just yet. At least he was wearing his boxers, so there wasn't really a problem.
"Okay, what word have you got for me today?" Bucky asked as he settled down beside you on the bed.
"Hmm... the word 'dito,' which means 'here' in English," you explained.
"Dito?" he asked, raising a brow.
"Yes. Use it like this: 'Dito ang bahay ko.'"
"Okay... dito ang bag ko," he muttered, trying to form a sentence using some of the Tagalog words he had learned over the past few days.
"Yes! You're doing great, honey!" you praised.
That earned a soft huff from your boyfriend and a smile tugging at his lips.
"Well, dear, what does 'anak ng tokwa' mean?" Bucky asked.
You immediately froze and stared at him as if he had just revealed some shocking secret.
"B-Bucky, where did you hear that?" you asked with a serious look, though he could tell you were nervous. He could read it all over your face.
"Uh, from you, of course. You always say it whenever something bad happens or whenever there's bad news," Bucky pointed out. He had heard you say it countless times around Sam and even Sarah. It always sounded funny to him, but he had never actually known what it meant.
"W-Well... it's kind of like..." You struggled to find the right words.
Trying to explain it felt like standing in front of your mother and confessing to something you accidentally broke before she reached for her slippers.
Bucky sat there patiently listening, though it was difficult for him to take you seriously because of your expression.
"Easy there, sweetheart. Just get to the point. No need to give me a whole lecture," he chuckled, gently cupping your cheek with his flesh hand.
"It means something like 'son of tofu,' but it's basically a much tamer version of 'son of a bi—'"
"Ah—okay, I get it. You don't need to say it."
Bucky interrupted before you could finish.
At least he finally understood what it meant.
Silence settled over the room until you broke it.
"So... do you still want to learn a few more words?" you asked.
"Yeah. A few more would be alright," he agreed, shifting closer to you.
"Hmm... let me think for a moment."
As you tried to come up with another word, one suddenly crossed Bucky's mind.
"Hey, baby, that word you sometimes blurt out... what was it again? Oh right—'tangina—'"
"We're not going to talk about that."
Bucky gave in and decided not to push further. He already had a feeling it was a curse word anyway. Sometimes he'd even google the things you said.
"Hmm, alright. I have another one for you."
That immediately caught his attention.
He repeated the word quietly.
The word rolled off his tongue as if he were testing it, trying to memorize it.
"There are actually two meanings to that word," you explained, running your fingers through his hair and gently scratching his scalp.
He hummed, signaling for you to continue.
"The first meaning of 'mahal' is 'expensive.' If something costs a lot of money, whether it's in a mall, a store, or online, you can say it's mahal."
"And the second meaning is love."
"Love?" Bucky lifted his head from your shoulder and looked at you curiously. "How can one word mean both?"
"I know, right? But yes. For example, instead of saying 'I love you,' you can say 'Mahal kita.'"
Silence settled between the two of you once again.
Then Bucky leaned closer.
His breath brushed against your skin as he stopped just short of your face.
"Mahal kita," he said softly.
The words felt less like practice and more like a confession.
Neither of you spoke for a moment.
Then Bucky noticed the tips of your ears turning red.
"L-Let's just go to the next one…" you muttered, but Bucky stopped you before you could continue, noticing how you were avoiding his gaze.
"I wanna hear you say it too," he said, his flesh hand reaching up to cup the side of your cheek.
Your eyes widened slightly.
The warmth of his hand against your cheek made it impossible to look away for long. Every time you tried, he'd gently guide your attention back to him with that patient look in his eyes.
"C'mon, doll," he murmured, a teasing smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I've been saying all these Tagalog words for you. Least you can do is say one back."
You felt your face grow warmer.
Bucky chuckled, shaking his head.
"That's not a real answer."
You groaned and buried your face in your hands, earning another laugh from him. His arm slipped around your waist, pulling you closer until your shoulder rested against his chest.
"You're making this way harder than it needs to be."
"You're the one putting me on the spot!"
The room fell quiet for a moment, comfortable and familiar.
You could hear the faint hum of the air conditioner and the steady rhythm of his breathing beside you.
When you finally peeked up at him, Bucky was already looking at you.
The same way he always did whenever he knew you were gathering the courage to say something.
The words came out barely above a whisper.
For a second, Bucky simply stared.
Then the softest smile spread across his face.
You immediately groaned and hid your burning face against his shoulder.
"What?" he asked innocently.
"I'm literally right next to you."
His laughter rumbled through his chest as he wrapped both arms around you, resting his chin on top of your head.
Despite your embarrassment, you couldn't stop smiling.
And judging by the way Bucky tightened his embrace, neither could he.
"What's my next word?" he asked, breaking the comfortable silence between you.
You narrowed your eyes at him suspiciously.
"You're doing this on purpose, aren't you?"
A grin spread across Bucky's face.
"Maybe..." he admitted with a small shrug, completely unapologetic.
You let out an exaggerated sigh and shook your head.
"And yet you still put up with me," he replied, looking far too pleased with himself.
In a brief moment, Bucky gently pulled you into a kiss. It was soft and sweet at first, lingering just long enough to make your heart flutter. When he finally pulled away, he rested his forehead against yours, a fond smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you a little closer.
You let out a small yelp before breaking into a fit of giggles when he started peppering gentle kisses along your neck. The affectionate gesture caught you off guard, making you squirm slightly as you tried—and failed—to hold back your laughter.
When he finally stopped, giving you a chance to catch your breath and calm your laughter, you looked up at him and asked,
"So, do you still want to learn a few more words now, or later?"
Bucky hummed thoughtfully.
"Maybe along with a few other activities...?"
Bucky laughed at your reaction and gently pulled you down onto the bed beside him, both of you sinking into the soft mattress.
"What?" he asked innocently. "Wouldn't that make the lessons more memorable?"
"Oh, I think I'm hilarious."
You rolled your eyes, trying—and failing—to hide your smile.
"I'm just joking..." he said with a grin. Then he paused for a moment. "Or am I?"
His laughter filled the room as you grabbed a nearby pillow and lightly smacked him with it.
"Maybe later..." he murmured, his arms tightening around you slightly. "For now, I just wanna cuddle you."
You rolled your eyes at his response, though you still couldn't help the smile that tugged at your lips.
"Alright... maybe a little cuddling wouldn't be so bad," you admitted. "Besides, I guess I could use this time to think of a few more words to teach you."
A soft chuckle escaped your lips as you leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to the tip of his forehead.
Bucky's smile softened at your words as he pulled you a little closer, clearly content to stay right where he was.
