The Synopsis

Welcome, welcome! Another Quarter Quell looms upon those who live in the Districts, threatening them with harsh reminder of how Rebellion shall not be tolerated. Punishment shall be handed out to all those who try. Each Quarter Quell comes complete with its own twists and turns, a hundred times more horrible than any other Game that had come before it. 

The Twists

Would it be a Quarter Quell without those deliciously cruel tricks and twists played on the helpless victims who were dragged viciously into the Games? Of course not, without them it would just be a regular Hunger Games. This had to be memorable. 

The Arena —- This years Arena is a gigantic maze split into four smaller sections (a desert to represent the element ‘fire’, an lake for ‘water’, a forest for ‘earth’ and plain land with gusts of wind for ‘air’). Each part of the maze contains a Cornucopia in the middle filled with things the Tributes will need. Fire contains a Cornucopia of weapons, water will contain a Cornucopia of drink hidden in the lake, air will contain a Cornucopia of food, and earth will contain a Cornucopia of medical supplies.

Instead of starting off around the Cornucopia, the Tributes are started off around different parts in the maze, forcing them to find the Cornucopia themselves with the maze constantly changing, the walls moving.

The Tributes —- Tributes die. That’s the funnest part of the Games, seeing children viciously rip each other apart in order to win. However, they don’t just die this year. Their bodies, by all medical reasoning, are void of life because that life is….somewhere else. Injecting each Tribute with the ‘Spirit Serum’, the Tributes are now forced to (un)live even more in the Games thanks to being ghosts —- giving them the power to help fellow Tributes (walking through walls would be very useful here) or torment whoever killed them.

The Rules

1. Be active. I’m not saying you have to be here everyday but reply as often as possible — anyone inactive for longer than four days will automatically be killed.

2. No godmodding, no hate, be friendly —— the usually roleplaying shiz.

3. Ships will not be forced. 

4. This group will, obviously, contain violence. 

5. No OOC drama.

6. Everyone is human.

7. Using a random number generator, each week two/three Tributes will die in the Arena.

8. All fandoms/OCs are welcome!

She chuckled in response. “Before him I thought the same way. Oh but I do not mind it with him. No. I will always submit to His will.”

The Dunmer took a larger sip of her drink while she let Vaermina speak. “It is very much so part of my nature. Ever since Sithis granted me his power I quite enjoy using nightmares as a sort of…torture. I had nightmares when I was a living Mer, they never once frightened me. No to have a ‘nightmare’ was comforting for me. I suppose I never was a normal little elf, was I?”

She put her glass down, knowing she might spill if she got excited from talking about watching others squirm. “Oh watching them squirm is the best part, but Sithis requires my patients. So I play with them until I have no further use for them. I enjoy the pure manipulation of it all. So many of them see me as their loving Mother. It clouds their judgement.”

"Indeed you were." she said, darkly. "As hard as I tried to terrify you whilst asleep, I never quite could. Perhaps it is just evidence of who you were meant to be. Although...that being said...that was then."

She put the glass down, leaning back in her chair. "Mothers are terrible creatures, bound and tied by debt, anxiety and desire. The easiest way to disturb a person is by bringing their mother into the fray in all bizarre ways of disturbing imagery. It is a mortal saying that love makes fools of all mortals but they never consider it in terms of family, only the lovers they choose."

"You should not be so surprised. I am his wife but I still do as he wishes. I am not his equal." 

At the mention of nightmares the Night Mother smirked. “Might I say I like your work. My Keeper gets Nightmares constantly. I like to watch. Quite impressive. As much as you like your solitude—I quite like it here.” 

She took one of the goblets and sipped. “Its fine. Truthfully I’m tired of the little brats. But I do whatever Sithis wishes. And he is not finished with them yet. It is fun making them murder though. Mortals are so easy to manipulate.”

"I don't think I could ever be like that. Not that there is any of my kin I would deem worthy enough to consider it, naturally." she said, sipping with apparent distaste. 

She grinned widely, a fluffy of jagged teeth like needles flaring through darkness. "I'm glad you think so. I work hard to ensure every moment is this...exquisite agony that can be so easily expressed in pools of blood or disapproving glances." she said, pouring some more into her glass. "The Quagmire does have a deep darkness that someone like you would enjoy. It is part of your nature, no?"

She nodded, raising her glass. "They are so easy to do so and so many are so willing to just submit to it all. Although that's irrelevant to me. Following orders, begging...I just like watching them squirm."

yet another fun fact: actually anxiety can be helped by doing whatever it is that makes you anxious, depending on the individual that is. It’s called “Exposure Therapy” and some people greatly benefit from it.

yet another fun fact: exposure therapy must be in a controlled environment and only with certain disorders, can only be considered if the person is a suitable candidate and if it is logistically reasonable to do. however, attempting to help someone "get over" anxieties without proper care or training can seriously make matters worse. generally speaking, a great deal of many anxieties are not suitable for such therapies for multiple reasons so saying "do the thing anyway" is considered harmful and redundant.

“Fantastic. Perhaps if mortals were wiser they’d fear me more than my followers, but I suppose it can’t be helped. They never expect a daedric prince to directly toy with them. Which only makes it all the more fun to do, really.”

Vaermina cackles, nodding.

"Even those who would claim about constant vigilance wouldn't stand a chance. It's so easy to slip the idea into someone's head. Although I suspect Mephala knows more about that than I. It's far more her thing." she said, shrugging. "There is no struggle for me. I just walk in and take it. I would say i am like a thief but they were always ready for my collection."

The Night Mother gave her an irritated look before rolling her eyes. “No he is not courteous he is lazy. He sends me here to check on you and everyone else. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here.”

She looked around for a moment before continuing. “That is all I came for. Sithis wants to know how you are doing.”

"So he wishes to know how i am doing and sends...you? I thought you were meant to be his dark and eternal wife, not a messenger girl." she said shrugging. 

"Still, I like my solitude. I like being left with my collection and my experiments. Nightmares simply are not as good when created by committee."

She pulled two goblets seemingly from under her arm and poured some blue liquid into each. She sat down, drinking deeply from one. "So, how is your merry band of murderers getting along?"

Idunnil stared at the monstrosity before her, shaking her head.

"Not again, I ain’t doin’ this again."

Vaermina stared at the mortal before narrowing her eyes.

"You. You're the one that hides her memories. That's.,..that's cheating,"

"I’m the Taskmaster, I manage the planes of Oblivion and maintain natural balance. It’s part of my job to occasionally check on the other realms. This unfortunately includes you-WHAT IS THAT?!" Peryite began to explain, only to get startled again. He had no idea why Quagmire always managed to make him uneasy. "I mean, this unfortunately includes yours,"

"It's my super crow. I ended up with too many crows so I combined them into a super crow. Nine hundred wings, a million eyes and...teeth, not sure where she got those from but nevermind." she said, petting the abomination.

"If you must do your administration then do so. But do kindly remember you're in the form of a dragon."

D’rzyk crossed his arms and raised his disguised eyebrows at this odd woman. “Ma’am, I do not summon Dremora to make my breakfast in the morning. That’s what my own hands are for. And as for being a Nosy Mage, I think not. I am the Archmage of the College of Winterhold, yes, but I am not ‘nosy’ in any sense. I do not wish to perturb any being in what they are doing.” He didn’t sound too happy.

"Who are you to say such a thing in the first place? Seeing my memories? In that case, you should know who and what I am, yes?"

"So, you're an important, nosy mage. No real difference." She stood up straight, her legs seemingly expanding as she grew taller, thinner like elastic. 

"I am Vaermina. And you're in the Quagmire. I thought the smell would have been a dead giveaway but none the less." she said, dryly.

"Now, I have your memories and I can weave delicious nightmares from them...but I delegate and I don't retain each memory of every person. That would be...boring. Really boring. I do not wish to recall nineteen generation of Imperial pig farmers who tended to scratch themselves as a form of entertainment."

She sighed, collapsing into a chair. "I don't tend to welcome the vessels of neverending darkness into my realm. Mostly because Sithis is most courteous and tends to keep himself to his own realm...unlike others I could mention..." 

Vaermina looked at her, the myriad of eyes bulging. "Is there a reason for this intrusion or are you just wandering?"

"I was wondering what realm I was in." The scholar looked rather unafraid for good reasons. He had the protection of Meridia on his side, and she wouldn’t let him be killed by another Daedroth. Or so he hoped. "Well honestly I thought you had brought me here. I am asleep you know."

She tutted, sighing. 

"How dull." she said, nostrils flaring. "And you seem to be radiating something. Let me guess, you're already a follower of someone. Daedra worshippers tend to get ever so reckless around other daedric princes."

"I’m so sorry that I felt it necessary to check on your rEALM!!" Peryite screeched, getting startled towards the end of his sentence by a random ghostly creature that popped out of nowhere. "I remember why I don’t like visiting the Quagmire…"

"You felt it necessary?" she said, turning her head towards him. "What would be wrong with it, precisely? Aside from that damn dremora letting every passing tourist in, of course. I don't check up on your plane of Oblivion."

"You have three minutes to explain how you got into my Quagmire before I turn you into a giant snake for a particularly nasty little project I have lined up for a nine year old Dunmer in Mournhold."

"Excuse me?" the Nord-looking Dremora asked, raising his eyebrow. "I do not think I am who you think I am." D’rzyk hadn’t realized who he was talking to just yet.

"I know exactly who you are. You are a nosy little mage who thinks because he can make a dremora do things like kill his enemies or make him breakfast in bed that he can handle me." she said, shrugging.

"Why, little mortal, should I care about you? Your memories are in my scrapbooks, your fears embroidered on my cushions and your nightmares are all over the place like dust. Small, tedious, omnipresent."
