Salut, I am Auberi Bellerose, champion of the Kalos region. 20 years old, they/them. Don’t… feel pressured to take the title too seriously, though. It’s a title I hold pride in but it isn’t all I am. ^^;
Aside from battling, I also enjoy music, baking, and gardening. I’m the lead in a band called the Flambu-Bards, I started it with my friend Gabriel in high school. After he passed, I… carry on the band in his memory. We post songs and covers to our MewTube channel as well as do the occasional live performance. Tickets for whenever those occur can be bought on our website.
I am… aware how my alarming 6-month disappearance last year affected many. I do not wish to answer questions about it here, but rest assured these days I’m doing just fine. I have a good support system and have managed to get back to a stable life. I know I’ve been absent from the League but I promise I will be there to defend the title next time gym challenge season rolls around.
The incident involving Team Flare that I helped in stopping 2 years ago, I’m more… open to answering questions about, to an extent, just please keep them mindful and respectful to all parties who were involved.
That’s all. I’ll mostly be on here to talk to people, stay up to date with my friends’ lives, look at cute Pokémon pictures, and post about my own. As well as post the occasional update about the band. Thank you for reading this far :]

// Auberi is the XY protagonist (dual protag situation w/ Blake from @pinkpoweredpunk) of Heroverse, their journey started about a year after the untimely and mysterious demise of their best friend Gabriel Lemaire. They’d gone through a major depressive period since, but memories of planning a future trip around Kalos with Gabriel is what sparked them to pick up Pokémon training and fulfill their dream by going on a trainer journey. In spite of not actually… liking Pokémon that much. A Pokémon was rumored to have been the cause behind Gabriel’s death, after all. That very journey, however, would lead to Auberi learning to love them again and discover a passion for battling. However, it also came with discovering the dark truth about Gabriel’s death and the involvement of his uncle, Lysandre.
Post-XY, during the time of Blake’s journey through Unova, Auberi was mysteriously transformed into a Riolu and brought to a world full of Pokémon. They acted as the protagonist of a slightly altered version of Pokémon: Super Mystery Dungeon. They’d also lost their memories, but clung to the feeling of missing something important. After being taken in by a Nuzleaf in Serene Village, they befriended a Fennekin named Glint and eventually joined the Expedition Society with him in hopes of finding answers to their past. Following their battle against the entity called Dark Matter that’d been threatening the Pokémon world, Auberi regained their memories, and hoped to find a way to return to their world… but not before facing the tragic loss of Glint, who’s past life as the Mew that Dark Matter spawned from brought about his destruction with the entity’s demise. Burdened by a grief they’re already no stranger to, Auberi is attempting to readjust to their old routine while bottling the traumatic experiences they had in a world no one would believe the existence of.

How did your pokémon get their names? Is there a story behind their nicknames?

I found mixed origins of the name “Korrin”. To be… honest, though, I chose it for my Froakie because my first thought was that it was similar to “Korra”, like The Legend of Korra. And. You know, water. I didn’t go with just “Korra” though because… at the time I thought naming a Pokémon after a cartoon character was immature, so I just went with that something that sounded similar and still sounded like a real name. It was a very “spur of the moment” name- I actually hadn’t been planning to nickname my Pokémon at all, but the day I got my Froakie my friends were hounding me to, ha.
I took it a bit more seriously with the second Pokémon I caught. Well, kind of. Calypso is the name of the nymph who keeps Odysseus trapped for seven years in the Odyssey, and the name means “to conceal” or “to cover”. Calypso, when I first caught her, always kept a psychic barrier around herself as she disliked being touched. I’d also seen a painting depicting Calypso (the nymph) at the Lumiose Museum the day prior, and it was on my mind.
Glacé is… well, it’s pretty on the nose. It’s actually the name the researchers who’d been looking after her before had been calling her, and when they gave her to me I just kept it. It’s the Kalosian word for “ice”.
Ryu was named after the video game character. At least, I think he was. My friend Korrina was the one who raised him and gave him the name.
Cantrelle, from what I could dig up, is associated with “bell” or “singer”. Her name took a while to land on; I wanted to find one associated with noise somehow. Chantelle was also on the table, but it reminded me too much of Shauntal, one of Unova’s Elite 4 and an author I’m a fan of. In hindsight I don’t think I’d actually mind “Chantelle”, but she’s already too used to her current name.
Blake suggested the name my Absol currently has. I’ll admit, when I first caught Reaper I was… scared of her, so I hadn’t put as much thought into it. It was an accidental capture- she’d approached me while I was training one day, and I panicked and threw a Pokéball to stop her from lunging... I had a fear of Dark-Types since I was little (no, younger me did not know what type their Froakie would evolve into) that catching her made me have to work on if we were going to work together. Of course, I don’t feel that way anymore; she’s my baby. <3

As someone who’s recently been getting into battling, as a champion(?) yourself - do you have any tips? Don’t think I’ll ever go pro but I’ve been enjoying it as have my team!

Tips? Hm… I’d say don’t get too caught up doing things by the book. Researching what kind of movesets, stats, or strategies typically benefit the kind of Pokémon you use can be helpful, but also don’t get discouraged if you try those things and they still don’t work. Every Pokémon is different, even ones of the same species, and getting to know yours first will be most important in the long run.

I tried that trend of “Telling your Pokémon a bad joke and cackling like a Mightyena” on Calypso, and uh…

“Caly.”
Hearing her trainer call her nickname, Meowstic looks up at the camera. Auberi clears their throat before speaking, and asks in a deadpan voice:
“Why did the Meowstic sit on the computer.”
Calypso stares blankly.
“…So it could keep an eye on the mouse.”
There’s silence for a moment, before Auberi bursts out with the most ridiculous, cartoonish sounding laugh probably ever made by a human’s vocal cords. The whole time Calypso just keeps staring at them with that void expression.
Finally, Auberi stops after 15 seconds of not getting a reaction. “…Nothing?”
It’s hard to pick, but I definitely have a few high favorites…
…Geraniums are at the top of the list. My mother’s been growing them for as long as I can remember. I love the many colors tulips can come in, they’re just a classic. Fleur de fée, also known as the flowers the Flabébé line are drawn to.
…I don’t know how many know of it, but the fleur eternelle- or the eternal flower- is a sight to behold. It’s rare beyond belief, though, went extinct in Kalos thousands of years ago. Only one is known… by the majority of the scientific community, anyway… to exist- it blooms under a tree located in Hoenn’s Sootopolis City.
