At the risk of being over simplistic: To be believe in a deity and to accept science really just requires a belief that that god did it. Essentially what the Pope is saying here. Evolution is true, but god started it off. The big bang is true, but god was the first cause. (Inb4 the big bang is really just one of many theories but arguably the most popular.) Science doesn't disprove god. It merely shows that you don't necessarily require one (and point in which the Pope and I disagree). It's not that hard to integrate god with science, really, philosophically. My internal (mental) structure is a tangible link between the me that I am now which has replaced the me that doesn't physically exist now but did. If my character does not change, what is the meaning in a physical rebirth.
