weird question but why do people act like it is progressive to hate on the extremely tanned skin of white ppl like what is this all about I keep seeing it on facebook right now and it is kind of weird to suggest white people should be as pale as possible 💀?
like. many of my family members, who are white, work outside so obviously theyre extremely tanned. and yes they do regularly get skin cancer, (which appears to be a great and funny joke on facebook and twitter in regards to this topic?) so i just dont get where this idea comes from?
that theyre like idk 1) racefaking or 2) disgusting?
which isnt close to the case?
like im pretty sure if, for instance, my family members could help not working manual labor jobs outside all day in all seasons they would?? which would in turn “lighten their skin?” which seems pretty gross to say lol?
could someone explain why this idea permeates progressive circles? because to me a lot of it seems like misplaced classism at best? and at worst … something a bit more sinister…
A white supremacist just shot 11 black people and this is what’s keeping you up at night?
Someone already said it in the replies, but those jokes (typically made by POC and dark skinned POC especially) are usually aimed at people who go to tanning salons and use spray tanners, and it’s usually specifically to racefake or at least achieve a darker skinned look which, in their mind, is considered attractive. I have never seen this aimed at people who work manual labour and it seems unfair to turn this into a form of oppression or something more sinister than it is most times.
White ppl invent the concept of race and then act confused about the rules

A woman explaining how to pet a Mongolian mastiff. According to OP, this is Muyu and Mufang's first Dahan (大寒; "Great Cold"; Jan 20 - Feb 3), which is the final term of the 24 solar terms in a year according to the Chinese calendar. English added by me :)
“We made them a nest, but they won’t go to it” is such a universal pet owner mood. 😂
the reason so much of mainstream lgbt media is about coming out is because thats the only part of being lgbt that directly impacts the cis het people around you, and since mainstream media has to cater to a cis het audience, it has to represent the most palatable part of being lgbt in order to be the most profitable. portraying other experiences of being lgbt that don’t directly involve cis het people is too alienating to them to win their interest and will likely cost you a huge chunk of potential viewership. in this essay i will

"We met online in 2016 when I accidentally hit ‘add friend’ on people you may know on Facebook. We had an instant connection, I'm talking nothing or no one else mattered, all I knew was that I wanted to spend all of my time with her. 3 years later I invited all of our closest family and friends to a lantern festival and asked Amanda to marry me. Things happened, like Covid, which delayed wedding planning - but it was only delaying the inevitable. Nothing was going to stop us. We got married at the Valley of Fire."
...that they did - and it was *incredible*. We've got all the details over on the blog!

I worked at a Starbucks and some customer at the walk up came to complain there was a lady selling tamales in the parking lot and we were all like “oh whoa really?” And literally all of us left the store to buy bags of tamales
lesbians who have top surgery are very cool and sexy
squid game is so blatant about its theme of the rich abusing the poor but pretending the poor willingly chose their demise and yet twitter brain geniuses are still posting the absolute dumbest takes
at least they got a reply from someone with basic media comprehension
