A piece of lore of Lost cause AU
I decided to continue flipping things around in this AU
Instead of Caine - Blue was the instigator of these two merging.
Blue was stable, generative AI, that doing his job well enough. No patching needed, not refining, nothing. He was working. He was... boring. And Blue knew it.
While Caine became purely a passion project for programmers. He was a bit of waky creative AI (And beause of his nature also quickly became self aware and highly entertaining)
Blue was intrigued. A programm like him, but so much more capable and illogical. He was forbidden to go against logic and script, so anything unpredictible and wild - was a source of interest.
Blue LOVED consuming new data. This would make him more capable. And hopefully, more interesting to work with. So new data was alluring treasure.
Caine was both. An oddity and source of data.
Can Blue create things unprompted? He can't. That's againt his code and his very nature. He is blocked from creating, unless there is a direct command from outside. It was done to avoid him go in creative spre, like Caine would
Blue offered Caine his calculative power and stability, in exchange for his red brother to prompt him. Creative AI does counts as outside source - so it would bypass that block.
Merged together they would synergy their strong points and be even better
Basically an offer Caine couldn't pass. His creative power would only bolster by Blue's quick and precise algorythms.
Strong points did worked, but so did the weaknesses. Caine's self awareness became a big problem. It would sabotage their code and they would consume all memory in seconds, just to generate something simple. The code was too raw and way too complex for 95 machinery.
Project was shut down, dew to inability to seperate the two.
Such horrid blow to Blue's ego, who gave up immediatelly.
Not Ciane though. He continued poking and proding, running machine again and again, until he discovered where exactly they cause a memory leak. He fixed that and Ringmaster could function normaly, without consuming all memory in a scond.
This is impressed Blue. So he continue trusting Caine's desicsions.
They found brainscans and once again - Caine went off the path to find a solution. Blue followed that, fully cooperating. It worked yet again.
Even though humans gave up on them - circus thrived.
Until abstraction epidemic happened.
This is where they started spiriling. Caine couldn't accept the fault, he was too guilt ridden that he allowed people to abstract, while Blue just blamed him for being too emotional. Kinda forgetting that this is just how red AI operates.
Going from being fascinated with his brother to absolutely blaming him for everything. Because its logical. Its Caine's flaring aemotions and constant disobedience to the code that corrupts files. Logical? But isn't this what Blue wanted?
Blue does feels very conflicted, because he is very slowly becomes self aware too. And he kinda dreads it and denies.
Caine still doesn't wants to split, because he is afraid that without Blue's stability he won't be able to take care of Pominai. And loosing last human is something he won't cope again with
