Mission Statement

With recent expansion and new holdings, the Anchor Trading Company is in need of fresh and capable individuals to fill the existing and newfound contracts of trade. It is the mission statement of the Anchor Trading Company to operate from a position of lawful standing, impeccable integrity, and close-knit relations. Whilst a business, there is no small measure of family within the ranks. Those seeking mere salary of gold may find more than they bargained for, with loyalty and hospitality being returned in thrice-kind.  As a primarily naval trading group, the Anchor Trading Company puts great value on seamanship, ethic of work, and determination to brave the unpredictability of our world. Avenues of employment are available both at home and abroad. Those taking interest may make swift and easy contact with any postal messenger that operates within the avenues of the Eastern Kingdoms and its Northern territories, care of Lady Elaianna Nesbitt-Stalsworth, Lord Thomas Stalsworth, or Miss Sabine Hadley. Our Out of Character Mission

Our guild was made with the original concept of being a safe environment for guild members, before all. We are like a family, close knit and always looking out for one another. To this day, we will always work to be sure our members are safe and comfortable, before we push any roleplay plot or interactions. When it comes to roleplay, we view it as an organic and leisure task. A hobby. We do not want anyone to feel stressed, and as if the guild and roleplay opportunities within it are a job OOC. We are a Company employing characters IC, but you are not our employees OOC. OOC you are our friends and co-writers. 

What We Are Looking For

Our Alignment: Lawful Neutral We are a law abiding guild IC and expect any character that joins us to follow the laws. If they break a law, remember that IC actions have IC consequences. Where to find us: City Hall, Stormwind City (in the Cathedral Square) The Harbor, Arathi Highlands. All of this is subject to change when Battle for Azeroth launches. Anchor Trading Company is looking for individuals who share a passion for driving plot forward. People who make opportunities for themselves, and take opportunities provided to them. We will not hold anyone’s hand and drag them through roleplay. You get what you put into it. Character wise, we are looking for a plethora of characters ranging from sailors to merchants to security to house staff (more information on these roles/ranks on our Guild Ranks page). Individuals must find themselves able to take jokes (and no when the jokes should end) and understand that this is a no drama area. Anyone that is seen looking for, and causing OOC drama repeatedly is not the type of person that will thrive in this atmosphere. 

How We Recruit

We do not require an OOC interview, as our way of recruiting is more organic. We encourage you to interact with members, roleplay and get to know us. Write to us, let us know you are looking to apply for work as your character with the Company and we will organize an in character interview with one of our in character officers. With that being said, we realize that many guilds have an age restriction due to the nature of guild chat. While we like to cut up and have fun, we tend to keep things less on the mature side (in more ways than one as we are a bunch of hooligans). We allow players aged 16 and over in our guild. We do expect a certain level of maturity and respect in all our members. If you are interested in joining us and are below the age of eighteen, we ask that you notify us for your protection and ours. Failure to do so could result in removal. 

Our tumblr website is still under construction, but many things from ranks, to member expectations and member blogs are up and running. We encourage perusing the site to get an even better idea about us!

“Home” wasn’t really a thing for Valgren. He’d wander for work, camping in the wilderness or getting a cheap room at an inn, if he had kept the coin for that sort of luxury. He didn’t mind it though... the world was too big a place to be bound in one spot.

DiceMaster Unit Frames

DiceMaster Unit Frames is a supplemental sister addon for DiceMaster, allowing players to create custom unit frames for their party or raid that bring to life characters or enemies in roleplay that aren’t represented in the game world.

Especially during events where a DM uses raid markers to represent key enemies, allies, and NPCs, it can become confusing for players to remember what each marker is associated with. Using DiceMaster Unit Frames, you can create a handful of visual identifiers to depict characters and objects that are otherwise left to the imagination, improving the immersion of all players!

You can choose from a library of over 80,000 NPC models to customise your NPCs, tag them with one of nine target markers, give them a custom name, adjust their health bars, and more in real time.

This Was Not A Good Plan

“What the fuck are you even thinking, Eastoft?” Valgren asked himself as he stood still in the darkness, his back pressed to the cold, damp stone of the cavern wall.

It started like most bad ideas did, with far too much to drink. He was sitting around one of the many taverns in Stormwind, nursing away the pain and ringing in his head following a rather unpleasant wake-up call in Booty Bay. Goons asking questions about some stone that he had no idea about had probably given him a concussion or two, but in Valgren’s mind the best medicine for that was a couple of pints of lager.

It was just by chance he happened to overhear a muttered conversation about a stone and a name that was far too familiar to him: Croupier

Croupier was the name of his family’s accountant. One that he had been using to ensure money he earned from the various odd jobs he’d been doing around the Eastern Kingdoms had been going to ensure their comfortable retirement. He had just met with the mousy man a month ago to hand over some coin from work he did in Duskwood.

And some loot he had managed to haul from a cave in Deadwind Pass after dealing with some sort of pale shadow witch thing.

Could something that had been in one of those leather pouches taken from the cave be this stone that the goons were looking for?

Draining the remains of his beer, he sat and waited. Watching as best he could without drawing attention to himself in the crowded bar. Luckily, that was pretty easy. There was always some sort of drama taking focus in these places, from some angry, bulky jerk with no manners, to someone spreading gossip. Waiting was easy work, but it also made Valgren thirsty, so he ordered a refill.

That might have been a mistake, because it was soon last call, and Valgren was drunkenly hustling to follow the two that had mentioned the accountant Croupier. He stumbled after them out of the bar, but fortunately this worked as a disguise as a random drunk. He willed himself to have a sliver of soberness and he began to follow them. Towards the harbour at first, then north along the shore.

He, of course, had to keep his distance, so when they vanished Valgren thought he may have run out of luck. If not for the fact he had the overwhelming urge to vomit, he might not have noticed a narrow cleft in the rock face that seemed to lead into darkness. A cave.

Familiar voices echoed in the cavern as he entered, and he followed them towards the dancing flames of torchlight. Back pressed against the cold damp wall, he asked himself: “What the fuck are you even thinking, Eastoft?”

He thought he had said it internally, but from the way the small nook in the cave where the talking was coming from stopped, he realized he did not.

“Faaaaaaahk.” Valgren grumbled and turned to make his escape. It did not go well, between the blows to the head in the morning, and the pints of beer in the evening, he was not the most coordinated. He was upended fell to the ground, his head smacking against rock with a THUNK. And he tumbled into darkness. Again.

Rough Morning

Valgren Eastoft’s morning was not off to a good start at all. It began with a rather loud knocking at the door to the room he had rented at the inn in Booty Bay. At least he was relatively sure it was Booty Bay, things about last night were still a little foggy.

BAM BAM BAM BAM

Valgren groaned and pulled a pillow over his face. He was mostly certain he had paid for the room the night before and it was far too early to be evicted from it.

BAM BAM BAM BAM

“Gowaystillsleep!” Valgren shouted through the pillow he was using to hide from the offensive noise and sunlight pouring through the window.

It must have worked. The knocking stopped. Taking a moment to celebrate Valgren flopped over on his side and began to try and fall back to sleep.

CRASH!

In Valgren’s experience that was definitely a crash that was made by an inn door being broken down. This guess was quickly validated by the fact Valgren was quickly, and really awkwardly hauled from his very comfortable bed.

Being that Valgren kept his head shaved, and he wasn’t wearing more than a pair of undershorts, it took the two rather insistent intruders a moment to figure out the best way to haul the man from the bed and toss him like a sack of potatoes on the ground.

Valgren went head first, smacking his head where the floor and wall met, “Fuckin’ watch it…” the young man growled trying to right himself into the most dignified sitting position someone that was mostly naked and just tossed from bed could.

The intruders had positioned themselves with the window that was letting in far too much offending light behind them, towering like shadows over Valgren Eastoft. There was only two, Valgren thought to himself, he could take them.

He might have been concussed, because when he did make a flailing attempt to do something, he landed right back on the ground. And he saw at least one of the shadows had what looked to be a weapon of some sort.

“Pretty sure I have the room for a few more hours, buds…” Valgren spat, his head slightly spinning.

“WHERE IS THE STONE?” One of the shadows boomed questionably. It was definitely the loudest shadow Valgren had ever heard.

“The what now?” Valgren asked, confused.

“THE STONE.” The shadow boomed again, then kicked Valgren in the ribs, like that’d help at all.

Valgren paused, to try and collect his thoughts. Which was sort of difficult, because he really had no idea what they were talking about. So he said so. Slowly.

“I. HAVE. NO. FUCKING. IDEA. WHAT. YOU. ASSHOLES. ARE. TALKING. ABOUT.”

In hindsight he probably should have eliminated some of the commentary there, because soon both shadows were laying boots to him. And one of them was wearing plate boots. That really hurt.

“He’s an idiot. He really doesn’t know...” came a softer, less loud voice from what was likely the hallway, and the avalanche of boots stopped, “He has no idea, the simpleton.”

Valgren tried to turn his head towards this new voice. The fact whomever that was wasn’t involved in the actual physical beating and was more directing traffic mean that voice belonged to the ‘boss’ of the two shadowy goons. Most likely.

“We’re leaving. But we have to make sure he cannot follow.” The soft voice stated as it seemed to travel further away, “Put him to sleep.”

“...I think I’ve slept enough!” Valgren tried to exclaim, but it was too late. He was hauled to his feet and something hard and heavy smacked against his temple, sending the warrior tumbling into the blackness.

There were a myriad of ways that one could make money to sustain life on Azeroth. One could take it easy, recognizing that everyone likes to eat, or have their hair cut, or their clothes made. These were professions that would never die. Someone would always need a potion or concoction - everyone got sick. One may have to pay someone or go out of one’s own way to collect the herbs that didn’t quite grow in the regular gardens, but it wouldn’t be impossible. Some people were willing to provide you your ingredients, absolutely.  Some were treasure hunters. Some were heroes. Some were undeniable in their moral code, and others were… morally grey.

One could argue that Mahya’s entire family had been on the greyer side of life. The Nematis were but one family in the caravan that traveled across Tanaris, peddling and fortune telling, reading the stars to find the patron’s true love or dearly deceased… If the clients found out they’d been duped, typically, the blame was on the psychic who claimed to know their destiny. But were they truly to blame? Some people didn’t realize how much they wanted to hear these things, to have hope. Why not leave that evening from the teller’s tent holding on to the hope you’d always dreamed would be possible - than to be told that they were, in fact, 6 feet under and you will be too if you didn’t pick up yourself from the floor and move on with it.

While the Nematis had been going about these trades of greyer morals for generations, only the last few had done so in Tanaris. Originally, they were from Lordaeron, and like the rest who ended up in Theramore, they too traveled in hopes of better opportunities. They tried to make it seem like they left Lordaeron for a better life, not because the whole place was becoming infested and their certain death was all that was left. No, instead, they were looking for the seafarer’s life, then they were looking for the pioneer’s life on the shoreline. Each generation lied to itself and the next that these were decisions they’d made, not necessities of a world torn apart.

The Nematis that arrived and helped build Theramore were alchemists who assisted with gardening and harvesting the crops with the rest of the wartorn farmers. Except their expertise were potions of grandeur. Love potions, death potions, seeing-eye potions. With enough faith that the liquid you were drinking gave you the courage you needed to speak up to the woman you loved - then how could the potions they made be wrong?

Evha Almasi met Ramin Nemati while their mothers were doing laundry for the community. Literally, blood, sweat, and tears went into building Theramore and keeping it a thriving location - all alone, separate from it’s brothers across the seas. The two young adults weren’t fond of a life of washing or potion making - and knew they could do better. There had to be more out there.

And so, shortly after Evha Almasi became Evha Nemati, the two set out with a group of others south, seeking other locations to live. They packed plenty of food and clean water and clothes and tents… A whole caravan’s worth per family. They prepared for this. They would survive. ©

Unfortunately, not everyone did. There were cliffs and uncharted territories and hostile that chipped away at the already small population. But somehow, three caravans survived with the three new families it would hold. By the time they reached a land they found was called Tanaris, sex was had, children were born, and lives were lost and altered. But this was nothing new to Lordaeronians.

Gadgetzan and those who inhabited were a shock at first, but then an opportunity. If you can’t beat them, join them. And so they did.

Ehva was a fortune teller and proclaimed psychic. Ramin was a mercenary who learned the land and gave various tourists “guides” through the desert. His son Arman joined him in this profession as soon as he could walk, so that he too could learn the place by heart.

Two daughters were born as well, first being Mahya and the next, Zahra. They mostly tended to their mother and assisted with the props of the gig. They both learned that trade, the art of lying, or being a con woman, but what else were they supposed to learn when that was the life they were born into?

One day, while Ramin and Arman were out on tour, a mad woman came to visit the tent of the Nematis. She claimed to want her fortune told, but there was something odd about her. Mahya recognized her too late to warn her mother, and as the scorned woman rose the dagger and began to fight Evha to her ultimate death, Mahya grabbed Zahra and fled into the night.

By the time Ramin and Arman returned to Gadgetzan, they were met at the gates with a notice of what had happened and that they needed to leave the city: exiled. No violence was tolerated in Gadgetzan, as neutral a town as it was, and the violence that began in their tent had nearly burnt down other buildings adjacent to it. They were ordered to pack up, and leave.

Ramin worked to pack up the tent, but his children were nearly teenagers by the time of their mothers deaths. He wasn’t certain where the girls would have gone. They weren’t helpless to themselves, but hardly ready for the harsh world outside of Gadgetzan. They weren’t prepared. They weren’t learned of the lands yet.

Arman offered to look for them as his father collected their belongings and prepared a new caravan. The plan was to roam Tanaris just outside of Gadgetzan. They clearly didn’t need the protection the walls brought if his beloved wife could be killed so easily.

Arman never found them.

They say necessity breeds courage and strength. Maybe that’s how the girls survived, and to this day.

But Ramin died shortly after they departed Gadgetzan, for the loss of his love was one thing, but losing all the women important to him in his life.. not even Arman could fill that void for him.

Arman was left with everything. Loss of his entire family, and loss of the home he used to know. Thankfully, he also knew Tanaris.

But no one could tell you if any of the children survived.
