Fashion is my all-time favorite topic. I guess you have already figured that out when you first visited my blog. However, this is a very important day because I’m going to post off-topic. You know why? Because I want to. That’s why. LOL Seriously, I feel like it’s high time that I share something so important. And no, this isn’t about politics. I hate politics. I want to talk about something that’s related to our environment. Have you ever heard of energy efficient homes? Is your home one? I hope so.
You see, it was only a few months ago when I was introduced to the importance of energy efficiency. I attended a seminar about global warming and the things we do every day that contribute to it. I learned so many things from that seminar and one of those is the importance of energy efficiency. An energy efficient structure reduces the unwanted consumption of energy as well as lessens the use of nonrenewable resources and the production of greenhouse gas emissions. Pretty serious stuff, it would seem. But actually, the principle is quite simple. We have to save as much energy as we can to avoid harming Mother Nature and to prevent the total eradication of non-renewable energy resources. It will take thousands if not millions of years for us to have new fossil fuels. That being said, the smart and practical way for us to conserve electricity is to make use of other sources of energy such as solar, hydroelectric, geothermal and bioenergy.
To cut it short, eco friendly homes are the “in” thing today. They feature properly insulated walls, ceilings, basements, attics and floors to keep the heat or the cold in. The insulation will make the house comfortable during hot or cold seasons. If you are thinking about making your home eco-friendly, you should consider the use of appliances that have energy efficiency ratings. There are heating and cooling systems available nowadays that make use of less energy. Aside from reduced electricity bills, these appliances function more efficiently than others. In other words, it’s going to be a win-win situation. Though these appliances cost more than regular ones, you’ll find that they are better and more advantageous in the end.
I have actually decided to have our house reconstructed and make it more energy efficient. I’m thinking about a passive house that uses solar power. Ooohhhh solar panels up our roof! That’s so posh! LOL I consulted a trusted home builder in Nillumbik VIC that’s popular for green building solutions. I’ll let you see the final draft of our home plan once I get them. I’m sooooo excited! ‘Til next time, girls!

After you read this post, you may think that I’m a handywoman. But actually, I’m not --- yet. I am still learning the ropes of home maintenance and improvement. I’ve am continuously reading a lot of resources online and also applying the tricks and tips at home. You might ask me why. Well, here’s why.
Just a week ago, I noticed that there’s some sort of foul smell in my house. And you know me. I don’t put up with foul smell. I don’t even put up with dirt. LOL Being an Obsessive Compulsive girl, I always make it a point to clean my house. But little did I know, there were things that I missed big time. My drain pipes are among them. And I guess the biggest culprit was that I didn’t know how to clear blocked drains and sewers. My bad. :(
Apparently, drains also need to be cleaned regularly. Aside from preventing clogs, keeping our drainage lines clear will also avoid other inconveniences such as sewer backups, slow-draining and here it is ---- foul odor from coming out of the pipes. I didn’t know what to do that time so I called reputable plumbers in Lafayette CO. They came to my home in a service truck that’s quite impressive. It’s complete with all the tools and equipment that they may need for any rooter job.
The plumbers looked clean, nice and professional. They checked where the foul odor was coming from and found out that it’s from the bathroom and kitchen drains. They checked the drain pipes for clogs but didn’t find any so they went outside and looked for my cleanout plug. They inserted a camera in the drain line to find out where the clog is. In just a short span of time, they were able to pinpoint the location! Hoorah! Afterward, they showed me how to snake a sewer line. It was something. I’m telling you. I won’t be touching that machine ever. HAHA
Anyway, they completed the job immediately and charged me a measly amount. I was pretty impressed! So if you ever experience this problem at home --- and I hope you won’t --- you should get drain unclogging services in Lafayette CO ASAP! Don’t ever let the problem get any worse. And because I love you guys, watch the video I shared above. It’s going to teach you how to keep your indoor drains clean!

Trish
