On the day of the accident, Johansson was shooting the upcoming Apple movie “Project Artemis” opposite Channing Tatum when she woke up to the news that her “Avengers” co-star Renner was nearly killed in a snowplow accident in Tahoe while digging out his nephew’s car.

“I was very upset,” she remembers. But as Renner’s prognosis quickly improved, she and her fellow Avengers began joking with their convalescing cohort. “On the Avengers text chain, we’re like, ‘OK, you beat us all. That’s it. You won,’” she says. “That’s like real superhero stuff. It’s unbelievable.”

'You're insufferable,' Marisa shakes her head, unmistakably pleased, and weighs a golden locket on a thin chain against her finger, Asriel standing in front of her with folded arms; she finds the locket light, lighter than the news she'd told him a few days before, much lighter than the building weight in her womb.

'Worse, I'm romantic,' with a short, barking laugh he leans back a bit, imprinting in his eyes this exact image of Marisa as she puts the gift around her neck for the first time, then teases: 'One day, maybe you'll even put a lock of hair inside.' 

She scoffs affectionately enough, though not without an ounce of cool-minded rationality, and rolls her eyes, and says: 'I can't imagine going this soft over a child, Asriel, even yours.'
