Some expressions I drew for the zombie Judge character in ParaNorman.
Brenda Vaccaro as Beggar Woman from ‘Kubo and the Two strings’. What can I say, she killed it! Not sure if I have permission to post this but I’m pretty sure Laika still has my number if they want me to remove it (they own it, hee hee)!
ParaNorman (2012) Directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell
Just some shots from ParaNorman that I storyboarded, no biggie.

Reggie expressions by David Vandervoort and Julia Vickerman
His purple highness.

Some 2D tests showing the gradual decline of Snatcher’s situation, for the 2014 production of “The Boxtrolls”. Just for the record, our “hate-mongering lowlife seeking high office” character predated even the THOUGHT of certain ass-hats becoming president, and I dare say we warned you all and came up with a much better ending for our villain.
Always a pleasure, and a humbling one, working from master Robert Valley’s designs. Unfortunately the designs themselves are not mine to post but here is a crude facsimile. These were for a proposed WWII show for the TV.
Milt Kahl.
Another yelling dialogue test from ‘Kubo’. This time we had an actual line from the film, delivered by Voldemort. Moonbeast was a challenge ‘cause he’s all up in your face so his mouth had to move really well, yet it was made of rigid plates. What he was so mad about I still don’t know. I think I need therapy.
Maybe, if I'm lucky, I will end up at Laika some day too! Laika has always been a favorite of mine, and certainly a place in which I can envision myself. But if not, who knows. But I will certainly end up somewhere. And you've kinda given me the balls to keep trying so I can see where that somewhere is. (3/3)
YES! You have enormous balls and don’t forget it! Never let anybody’s rejection of you make you stop doing what you love, that’s way too much power to give them. If anything, use that rejection as fuel to make great work and prove them wrong! That’s how I’ve always seen it, I’m very motivated by others not thinking I can do something, as strange as that may sound. Just focus intensely on your craft and everything else will fall into place. The only approval that matters is your own. Best of luck!
Mind Game, best film ever.
Just some expressions I drew for Baby Eggs during the 2012 production of ‘The Boxtrolls’. This part of my job is the least fun but the most useful to modelers and riggers, as it describes the shapes very specifically and from multiple sides. I always thought he came out pretty good.
Capturing the innocence and explosive anger of Aggie meant animating her literally being torn between the two states of being. This was one my favorite parts of Paranorman, where the ironic facade fell away and the true heart of the story was revealed.
Guess what, everyone?
KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS IS NOW STREAMING ON NETFLIX!
Some early look development for Angry Aggie from ‘Paranorman’. Direction given was make it like the ‘Rubber Johnny’ video for Aphex twin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRvfxWRi6qQ. That was all I needed. They always give me the angry characters, should I seek help?
