I need warren headcanons

god me too here we go:

warren is secretly killer as a cook, and does fine when he’s on his own. unfortunately, when he and kendra cook together everything always goes to hell in a handbasket. for this reason, them cooking together has been banned

okay i’ve done the math on this one and he couldn’t have been any older than 22 when he went into the grove with the revenant? so picture if you will for me college aged warren going into that grove determined to figure out what’s going on and trying so hard not to be scared

he went to college, and he was one of those college kids that no one really knows what they do with their time? like, he’s in your english class, but you’ve also seen him hanging around the science labs, and last week your roommate was working with him on a photography project? truly bizarre guy

the dude has probably got hella ptsd. just saying.

I’m gonna lose it I was just getting my blood drawn and the first vein she stuck wasn’t producing any blood so she took the needle out and it didn’t bleed at all and I said “woah….I don’t have any blood” and she very seriously said “I doubt that’s it. I’m having an issue finding a big enough vein.”

She really thought I really thought maybe I’m outta blood.

What I learned from this is a lot of medical professionals have had to explain to people they can’t run out of blood and live

In her defense, my doctor is at a teaching hospital, so there are always students, residents, interns etc. learning. The doctor or nurse or flabotomist asks permisssion for their student to practice on you, and I usually say yes unless I’m feeling particularly sick tht day and don’t want to risk exactly this.

Great Comet is a perfect show because it focuses on universal themes like love, pain, youth, beauty, forgiveness, mortality, going to bisexual leather raves, family, and getting absolutely blasted with your fave Uber driver and bff with benefits before eloping with the hot girl you met at the opera three days ago because it seems like fun and you’re bored

Misc. headcanons!!!

Yesss okay!

The team have family dinner every other week and take turns cooking. Quality of the dinner depends greatly on if Warren and Kendra are working together or not. They often get distracted, and then it’ll all go to hell.

Lost Mesa is eventually reclaimed and Mara and Elise move back there to become the caretakers.

Kendra and Seth’s parents become really interested in how the preserves work and the whole family end up living there

The Sphinx essentially becomes that one kind of sketchy by uncle that’s always invited to holidays and spends the entire time reading in the corner

The first time Kendra goes on a date with a boy who isn’t Bracken, he ends up treating her badly, and when she comes home in tears the Sphinx is the first one who sees her, and he gets TICKED

Like he goes after this kid and someone has to talk him down

And this is how his like reintegration into human society starts perhaps?

.... give me angsty headcanons about Vanessa and the Sphinx

oh, anon, you bring me such joy! here you go:

first thing i want to know is how these two met. likely through the knights of the dawn, given canon, and maybe the sphinx managed to win her over to his side by convincing her that the knights were corrupt? (which they were, but certainly not until he showed up) and played on her sense of wanting to belong, as a narcoblix, if that makes sense?

i don’t know if making vanessa fall in love with him was part of a plan to win her loyalty, but i think it’s much more painful if that’s true

and i think vanessa really really tried to convince herself that this was a man she could be in love with, and that he really loved or at least valued her

and i think the first time she realized that just wasn’t true was incredibly destructive for her, like it’d have to be? if we take it as a given that she betrayed the knights of the dawn for him, and i think it makes sense that we do

but what i’m curious about is at what point that realization came? because if it came before she ever got entangled with the sorensons, we have the possibility of her staying with him out of obligation and hope that somehow she could get that sense of being wanted back

Tell us your brackendra headcanons ☺️

hey anon! to be really honest, brackendra is a canon ship i have some weird feelings about? like brandon addresses this to a certain extent, but i have some feelings about the literal centuries in age gap between them? that said, here’s what i got:

bracken always cooks these absolutely wild fairy dishes and kendra is never entirely sure what’s in them, but they’re always really delicious

kendra has so much fun introducing him to modern things like movie theaters and like, grocery stores? he’s just got an amazing sense of wonder for this stuff and it seems like it’d be a really cute couples thing

when kendra goes to college, they agree to put their relationship on hold so she can experience that on her own? and she dates a few people and discovers she’s bi, and then after graduation she decides she still wants to be with bracken (listen i am invested in her having options and agency and not being locked into a guy she had a teenage crush on at the age of like 16)

and like maybe she becomes an immortal one day? who’s to say

OOf. Too bad that Warren/Self care would never be cannon, they'd be so perfect for each other

i know lmao it’s the one thing i ship that has no basis in canon

let’s just quick recap some of the stuff warren has pulled:

jumped off a dragon’s back midflight

gotten scratched by a harpy (? it’s been a hot minute and i don’t super remember but i recall that shit was poisonous)

fought a three headed acid breathing poisonous panther

faced down a revenant and ended up in a catatonic state for an undetermined length of time

like. buddy.

oh anon you feed me so well here’s a list of some warren and vanessa thougths i just had

i often think about what they were like precanon? like i just want to know what it was that made Vanessa go all dark side and how narcoblixes happen? like are they made or born? was vanessa made into a narcoblix and experience like ostracization, and that’s what made her go to the Society of the Evening Star? 

also like post canon romantic arcs? how do they get back together? the only way i can conceive of it is that there’s a lot of unresolved tension and flirting that isn’t really flirting and pretending not to really care about each other while the whole time they’re both just in agony trying to figure out if the other still cares about them

and there’s also the gulf of vanessa probably doesn’t think she’s worthy of being loved? with the whole narcoblix situation, and like they don’t tend to find happy relationships, and the fact that she betrayed everyone before

also? i want to know why warren had that intense emotional reaction the first time he saw vanessa again? he literally calls her a hag in book two and yeah she’s like possessing someone but damn what is the context there

I actually hate Vanessa with Warren. I like them as characters just not as a couple. I really do want to ship them, it’s just difficult. Have any reasons why you like them together?

hey anon! wow, it’s been a while since i’ve used this blog. i like them together for a couple different reasons!

i don’t really like shipping the teen characters which gives me limited options

they’ve got this crazy backstory together that’s hinted at throughout the books but never really fully explored and that’s great ship fodder? plus the implication that they used to be emotionally involved in some way and were torn apart by Vanessa’s going over to the Society of the Evening Star (the reasoning for which I don’t think has ever been fully explained)

they have a kind of inversion of some really popular tropes in shipping, like typically you’d see the male character with this crazy dark side backstory and this brooding demeanor, and like the light side, gentle, caring female character balancing that out? and i think their dynamic is a really interesting inversion of that

brandon mull may never write another scene with them together and i love pain lol

fablehaven theory sludge demon killing kendra

ok, so if in book 3 the centaur dies because he is trapped between light and darkness how come when kendra meets that demon in dragon watch she touches it and bracken’s horn and is not killed. because the sludge monster unpurifies and the horn purifiies it would kill the demon but not kendra. it states it would kill her by durning her dark if she touched the demons hand without the horn but touching it with the horn dose not kill her. it dose not make sense. 

wow this is a first? a submission? for me??? i feel so special, y’all. That said, I really do not have an answer for this one. The only thing I can think of is that I think at the time, Kendra was doing dragon tamer stuff, which might have had something to do with it? She’s also still the Fairy Queen’s attendant, which might make her a little more resilient to that kind of thing. But obviously, I don’t really know that many things, so eh. That’s just the thought I had.
