I mean I go to bed pretty early anyway, but I like to sleep as long as possible lately. I used to wake up super early to go on morning runs but I haven’t even done that since I moved here.

Oh, well you can always go on afternoon runs? There’s usually more people, but at least you’re still getting some exercise in.

Ugh, no. I was forced to take an 8 a.m. because one of the classes I’m taking was full at all normal hours by the time I registered. It’s terrible.

8 ams should not be a thing at college. They’re always horrible. Well, except for the people that can actually get up that early and still function normally.

I’m all about that early afternoon class thing. Nothing before 11. I need my beauty sleep.

I wish I had the foresight to do that. I think I’m gonna go crazy from all the alarms I have to set to make sure I actually get up.

I have one morning class on Wednesdays and it’s killing me.

Oh, that must be annoying. Then your body can’t eve get used to a consistent sleep schedule because you just have that one day with an early class.

I thought it was a good idea at the time when I was registering for my courses. I didn’t realize how much harder it would be to wake up that early now that I’m not in high school.

I’m starting to realize why I had such an easy time getting into all of my classes. Morning classes are literally the worst.

Same, I don’t understand why people have kids so early. I know these days it’s usually unplanned but our parents generation they wanted to start families right after college it seems. I just want to get settled into my adult life and wait until I know I can properly provide and raise a child and that is going to take some time.

Maybe it’s like a competition of some sort to them. But I guess everything was also cheaper back then, so it didn’t take much to be financially stable.

I mean you gotta take the highs with the lows, that’s how life works unfortunately.

I know, it just seems like some people get stuck with the short end of the stick and it’s hard not to feel bad, you know?

Summer is ending so if you wanted to go hiking the best time to do that is now, unless you don’t mind hiking in snow.

I’ve heard fall hikes are really pretty though. But I’m definitely ready to go, especially before there’s too much homework and studying to do.

That’s not a terrible idea, although I feel like if I told my dad that he would be beaming with pride then work me to my bones. I might try it though, we’ll see. Because he could be beaming with pride and then leave me alone.

VANESSA CARLSON:

In hindsight, Vanessa knew she probably should have paid more attention when it came to having most of her stuff shipped over to the dorms. It was now the Sunday before classes started, and she literally had no idea where any of her things were. She wasn’t exactly sure if she’d somehow read the expected delivery date wrong, or if the post office was being slow or if there was some horrible mix up, but she was starting to get worried that she’d have to go the first week of classes without her things. 

After several long phone calls, she’d finally realized that her things had been sent to the wrong hall. Of course, she was glad that it was at least another one of the UNYC dorms, rather than somewhere across the city, but she wasn’t exactly happy about the situation. Half an hour later, she finally found Jefferson Hall, with all her things left out in a hallway. She couldn’t help but groan out loud as she eyed the boxes of things, wishing she had her car with her and mentally debating if she’d rather waste a fortune on getting a cab to go back and forth to get all her stuff, or spend a really long time carrying everything over by herself. “Great, just what I needed to start the year,” she grumbled to herself, sighing loudly.

I’ll be trying not to make any babies period for a long while now. But when the time comes, I’ll be ready to avoid the whole winter baby situation.

Oh I definitely understand that. I don’t think I’m ready for kids for at least ten years or so. But for your future kids’ sakes, I really hope that works out.

Sometimes life sucks, I wish there was more we could do about these kinds of situations.

Where’s home for you? I’d say I’d take you up on that offer but I would hate to make you drive me somewhere just for a hike.

Oh, I live in Nassau. So it’s literally less than an hour away by train. But it’s totally okay! I never really go hiking, so it’d be great to go again soon.

Yeah but I don’t want to do that either. Besides I wouldn’t actually take over until they retire or die.

Well, you can tell them the only thing you want to do is take over. So then you won’t have anything to do at all and you have many years to figure out what you want to actually do.

Unfortunately it’s two…but my extremely rare and almost nonexistent rebel side is slowly convincing me to not give a shit.

Well... It couldn’t hurt that much to go, right? Just as long as you’re not missing out on any important classes.
