Consistently throughout the games, he’s always confident in himself and his choices. He isn’t the type to overthink his choices, or worry about what people think of him (to an extent.) He knows who he is and he knows that he doesn’t need to prove it to anyone, because he’s so prideful.
This doesn’t mean I don’t think his pride has issues, but not in the way people think. He’s slow to apologize to people simply because he thinks he’s too good to do bad, he exploits the insecurities of others because he doesn’t see himself on the same level, and he struggles to see others as equal and only respects people who take pride in themselves as well.
Lucifer setting aside his pride for MC isn’t a testament to our ability to change him, but of his to accept that change. He could so easily ignore us, move on, because he knows he’s better. But he also knows that you have the potential to be his equal too, and he doesn’t want to see you as below him. So, he sets it aside, because he loves you.
Do you think demons can see human’s stripes? Do they think that we can too? What if they have them too?
You know how humans have stripes, and it’s theorized that cats and certain bird species can see them? What if demons can too.
(Older brothers. [Lucifer, Mammon, Levi])
Lucifer admittedly doesn’t know much about Human biology, but he knows enough to be aware that you can’t see your own patterns. He thinks they’re neat, but he can only see them while in his demon form, so you just look normal to him most of the time.
He doesn’t have “stripes” per se, but he does have crest patterns. They’re in colors that humans can’t see, but to other demons he looks quite flashy. They line the gem on his head, too. His feathers in his demon form are also technically iridescent, even though we can’t see them.
If you were to ask Mammon, he’d probably say that your stripes look weird. But when you’re lying in bed at night, he likes to trace them with his finger. He likes the swirls on your back, especially.
He has stripes, but they’re different from yours. The markings on his demon form, the white lines, those are his stripes. Humans mistake them as just the marking of a demon, but they’re actually just decorative paint lines they use to enhance them.
You look fascinating to Levi. Most of the human media he’s seen in the past was made by humans, and they don’t ever draw your stripes. So he didn’t know humans had them until he met you. Solomon and Maddi don’t count, he just assumed that witches and sorcerers gained them with magic.
Levi’s stripes are reminiscent of a Spine-bellied sea snake, they line his back and the sides of his face. Their color is most comparable to a blue, but that’s not very accurate. It’s simply a cool tone, and his hair is actually the same color.
Cw: slight spoilers for light novels 1-6, kind of??? Unsure if theres any tbh (See my other swap au post for cool art)

There’s two types of magic, Light and Dark. In a general sense, Light magic adds to beings (Strength, healing, etc) and Dark magic takes away (Weakness, withering, etc.)
Some beings are inherently born of certain magic types, and it’s largely to do with their environment. The celestial realm is made of light magic, therefore the first beings made there (asexual creation, see the previous list for more info on that) were of light magic. It’s the opposite in the devildom.
Biologically your magic is made of your parent’s DNA, if two parents with light magic had a child their child wouldn’t have the possibility of being dark magic, sort of like eye genes.
Light magic can be tainted, and dark magic can be purified, but it’s an extensive process. One that only the most powerful beings would be able to do, not even Lucifer or Diavolo can in large scales (they’ve managed to swap the polarity of a spell, but that’s about it).
Magic can mix, sometimes. Demons and Angels are the purest beings of their magic types, both only holding light or dark magic, however some beings like Vampires or Valkyries hold a sort of a mix, however depending on which is more prevalent, that magic is the more powerful. (Ex: A vampire who can heal).
Humans can be born with magic on rare occasions, usually based on their environment (ex: a “rift” of dark magic is prevalent when a child is being conceived or in utero, and the child is born with a bit of dark magic).
Humans born with magic have a dilute version, meaning their soul is not entirely magic, unlike a demon or an angel whose souls ARE magic. (This is why demons and angels enjoy “pure” human souls, although for angels it’s considered taboo.)
Humans can gain dark magic over time, Solomon as a bit of natural dark magic in his system because of how much time he’s been in the devildom. Dark magic appears in a human when they’re “tainted” with it, but this means humans can never gain natural light magic because they would need to be “purified” and you can’t purify magic when the magic doesn’t exist, it will eventually turn dark again. This means the only way a human can have natural light magic is if they’re born with it.
Most stories of “gods” and supernatural beings are actually just humans with magic types.
Speaking of stories, there’s two types of most beings! Ex: Vampires who are naturally born, and vampires who are turned by other vampires.
Extra: Natural born vampires have abilities unique to them (like hypnosis or turning into shadows), turned vampires do not because they only have one type of magic.
How do you think Diavolo is pronounced? On one hand Dye-ah-vah-low seems like it’d make sense, it almost sounds more mature, but does that mean his nickname would be Dye-ah?
Dee-ah-va-low sounds more childish to me but Dee-ah sounds better as a nickname.
I hate the stigma in vampire media around vampires of color, you either get people claiming that it’s unrealistic and not true to lore or people who make them GREY.
Because, vampires aren’t pale because that’s just what they are, they’re pale because they CANT GO OUTSIDE. Vampire skin-tones have nothing to do with vampires just being pale, if a black guy gets turned into a vampire he’s still a black guy.
And if you make them just straight up grey, not ashy or a little dull, just grey, that’s wild. In fact, not going outside and absorbing vitamin D regularly, often leads to hyperpigmentation, you know that thing that causes darker and reddish areas on the skin?
(Note: nothing here is canon, these are just my silly little world headcanons)
Beginning stuff:
Demons are evolutionary animals, somewhat like humans, but just in a different sense. Angels are too (technically)
I believe god or “father” was created somehow similar to the Big Bang, magic was condensed and it exploded and formed father AND other beings (like Barbatos)
If we are to assume each world has its own born deity, I believe the human world has something similar to what many cultures believe, like a Mother Nature type.
Building on this, I also believe that there’s other kingdoms with different beings in the devildom (like vampires) but do not have their own deities.
Barbatos is obviously the demon deity, father is the angel deity, Mother Nature is the human world deity. Vampires likely evolved along side demons and humans as a natural predator.
Evolution stuff
Humans obviously evolved with apes, I think that human world evolution is mostly the same if not just a little different (because of a magic push, which is what could have formed life to begin with) but humans and the world we know played out as modern science has proved
Demons likely evolved too, but not in the same way. I believe demons (because of the high magic concentration), evolved to be forms of living magic. Which explains the different abilities and immortality. Demons went through a similar “survival of the fit enough” and eventually developed intelligence.
I believe angels evolved in the same way, but are the “original” life forms. After father was created, his essence spread and caused life to evolve at a much faster pace, which means angels were created in days (which fits in with Christianity’s creation.) Early angels reproduced asexually and rarely, and they looked different than angels do now. (Like how you imagine biblically accurate angels).
I believe father was the first sexual reproducer with possibly another deity (it could be that Barbatos is not the only demonic deity, which explains why angels and demons can turn into each other), which created the brothers. The brothers are the only direct children of father, but all angels simply call him father because he *technically* created them.
Beings like vampires and werewolves evolved from demons and humans, just with a differing magic influence.
Language stuff
language is a human concept, angels and demons simply spoke with actions or magic. Angels were the first to establish communication with humans, and it’s because of the whole Jesus thing (I can share my explanation of Jesus in this universe too if anyone wants!)
Angels developed language first because of it, and the first language they adopted was Aramaic. Over time this language would develop into their own subset of Aramaic.
Demons developed language second, even though demons were in the human world first. The devildom has “cracks” that shine through the human world. Which is why areas like “Goatmans bridge” exist. Demons manifested themselves through these cracks and have been observing humans ever since. The first language they actually developed was Hebrew.
Overtime these languages developed and had influences from both eachother and humans. Diavolo’s grandfather would be the first to establish a common language in the celestial realm and devildom, which was a mix of Latin, Hebrew, and Aramaic.
Most beings speak all three, and the common tongue. English is the fifth most spoke language, but most people know it.
Obey me (all games, but especially swd) are very clearly just supposed to be your average anime boy otome games, which is why their “demon forms” are just handsome dudes with wings, and yet the fandom is constantly making up lore to make them actually horrifying and demonic.
We’re just a fandom of teratophiles and I find that beautiful
I’ve always been obsessed with trying to make sense of the om verse so here’s some mini rambles
(CW: Talks of reproduction, not sexual)
In game it says demons derive their power/magic from the three footed crow, and in East Asian mythology (specifically Japanese and Chinese), the Three Footed Crow is a messenger of the gods but also is stated to be representative of the sun and mankind so this implies that
1. Demons are more similar to humans than angels, meaning they can likely reproduce with humans (in specific scenarios).
And
2. Demons can turn into humans like Simeon did when they lose their magic.
I think theres also two different kinds of like reproduction? We know that for both angels and demons theres two kinds of child making.
Diavolo is a natural demon, meaning he was conceived biologically. It’s also implied Mephistopheles and other demons of similar/lower status are too. We also know both Diavolo and Mephistopheles were physically children at one point.
Barbatos and Satan are magically made demons. Barbatos states he was never a child or in a child-like state, and Satan wasn’t either. I think even though they were likely born from separate causes they still fit into the same category.
The brothers + Simeon were also just..spawned..into existence. In NB it’s said that Asmo was 7 days old when he started Asmo day.
Luke was born naturally (I assume) considering he’s in a childlike state.
Luke is also at least 5000 years old according to nb. Meaning that angel aging is likely 500ish years per maturity age. I also think they likely age like us in a way, with faster metabolism as their younger that slows down as they age. Natural born demons seem to keep their similar age forms after awhile (NB occurring about 2000 years later and Diavolo still looking the same, which implies Luke is also younger in NB.) and they still look similar.
Based on this, I think demon + angel children age at around 350-500 years per metabolic year, and it slows down significantly until it comes to an all time stop sometime in their adult maturity. This explains why some characters look older or younger despite being around the same age, their metabolism simply stopped at a later date than others.
Also: Demons and Angels can turn into each other easily. Angels and Demons can turn into humans rarely, and usually only after a loss of magic. Humans can turn into demons simply be being around them for too long, the same doesn’t happen for angels.
Also also: I believe humans could also do something similar to their metabolic rate in rare scenarios, and when they do it, it prevents them from being able to change into a demon despite being exposed to energy for prolonged periods. (Ex: Solomon and Maddie)
Something that really bothers me in fiction is when authors use invulnerable interchangeably with immortal
So say it with me:
If a character cannot die from age, but can die from things like severe wounds or whatever their kryptonite is, they’re immortal.
If a character cannot die from wounds and does not have a weakness that can kill them, but can die from age, they’re invulnerable.
If a character cannot die from wounds or weaknesses, and also cannot die from age, they’re both immortal and invulnerable .
Side note, but authors PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include sadness in your both immortal and invulnerable characters. You know how in the good place, because there wasn’t an end, they just all turned to mush? Yeah
