WHO doesn’t like him?!
Snipers car base is definetly Land Rover. But I still can’t reconize camper itself (slightly remind me of military german Hanomag L28 because of the curve of the roof)
Interior I think is very close to this (Its Dreamer Camper ‘76) still, its newer model than needed. One day I’ll find out how Snipers camper looks on the inside! xD
is anyone know more about Snipers camper?
im still curious
This is a four month late reply to @dagazspy‘s post but here’s all the info I have gathered on Sniper’s camper based on real vehicle’s.
His is a 1965 Land Rover Explorer in Patina Green, a TF2 wiki says it’s ’Sahara Dust’ but that’s incorrect. The base vehicle is the Series IIA 109 (LWB), sadly the Explorer model came with a factory 77 hp four-cylinder engine so it really got no where fast. Series IIA is considered the most hardy Series model Land Rover constructed and has been featured strongly in popular culture such as films and documentaries in the 1960’s. In Australia in the 60’s Land Rover held 90% of the 4x4 market so it was a very common vehicle and I’m sure the one Sniper normally drove back home.
The Explorer model is one that was for sale only in 1965 from Land Rover dealers, it’s unknown how many were sold and still survive to this day. There isn’t much information on it and all I have found is a 4 page letter that went out to dealers in 1965. The black and white photo you posted above is from it. Land Rover made the Explorer in an attempt to feed the growing demand among sportsmen and outdoor families. The camper its self is light weight, only coming in at 590 pounds which sleeps 4, has a gallery, and dinette. The galley has a stove, refrigerator, water and electrical system, and storage facilities. The unit was built by Travel Industries who also manufactured the famous Dreamer campers.
Since there are no photos of the inside of a Land Rover Explorer that I can find, the best guess I can make is to look at a 1965 Dreamer Camper. I did find a camper brochure from Dreamer from 1965 and they did have a model called ‘Explorer’. It’s safe to guess that’s the one they put on the Land Rover Explorer. I did find a man who had a mint 1965 Dreamer Camper so this is the best I think we are going to get as to the exact inside of Sniper’s camper. I honestly wish I knew how to make models because I would love to create a good inside for SFM of it. (if anyone knows how let me know)
Photos are under the cut
