ABOUT
THE GHOST is one of the most notorious art forgers and thieves in the world. likened to smoke, the ghost has previously exploited weaknesses in surveillance systems, outmaneuvered the brightest agents, and somehow cracked the xrf analyzer at the metropolitan museum of art and the museum du louvre.
while wanted by the fbi and red listed with interpol for almost a decade, no one knew what the ghost looked like. even the ghost's alleged associates did not know who he was, due to what they called the "chain of command." no one spoke to him directly, they said. over the years, some have claimed to be the ghost, only to have contradicting sources and methods. paintings are still turning up all over the world with seemingly no pattern.
in 2014, casper reid was arrested for armed robbery, battery against a police officer, public intoxication with intent to harm. and possession of illegal drugs. while he was recognized as a missing boy of the same name from brooklyn, new york, who disappeared seven years ago, casper also came under suspicion after one of his fingerprints turned up on an antique frame once handled by the ghost.
in 2015, casper was mysteriously exonerated of all suspicion associated with the ghost.

DEMEANOR: casper is extremely quiet, from his voice down to his footsteps. if he can shrink himself to be invisible, he will. for example, his time in prison was spent voluntarily mute, a social anxiety defense mechanism he picked up when he was young. a word of note, however, is don't confuse silence for shyness. when there is something he wants, casper suddenly has no issue playing a larger role in the world. some have said he might have been a great actor had he chosen a different path in life, creating roles for himself, pulling names out of thin air. his entire demeanor can change into just about anything he wants and seamlessly picks up different accents without fault or flaw. casper does tend to spend a great deal of time in his head, so please be mindful if you're speaking with him. be sure he is even paying attention.
WHO IS ALEX STANWICK?
alex stanwick is an alias from casper's longest running con. alex worked at the 02 sex club in downtown los angeles where he performed and participated as a sex worker and actor. dramatic, flamboyant, and radiant, he was the hidden star of the whole production. off-stage, alex was a fun-loving drunk, party-lover, and part-time art student with a special talent for pick-pocketing.
after restarting his life at age sixteen in los angeles, casper adopted this name not only to separate himself and all aspects of his old life from "the ghost," but to con an internationally renowned professional antiquities thief, kit harris, also called the chameleon. he formed a romantic relationship with kit, under the guise of alex stanwick, with the intent to challenge the best of the best. he learned their strategies, and as a kind of game, forged the items they had their eye on. once the items reached kit, they would realize the stolen works were fake and force them to start again.
if you were lucky enough to know casper around this time, and even more fortunate to know his aliases, you might notice the night and day difference between alex and casper. casper is quiet, calculating, introverted, and brilliant. he dresses modestly, if not for the sake of comfort. alex was loud and boisterous, extroverted with flowy shirts and leather pants, all easy-spilling laughter and sex humor. some have added casper probably would have been a great actor if he chose a different profession.
but casper would often come home feeling exhausted and overstimulated, running himself ragged with who he was and what he wanted to accomplish. he would make excuses as to why he couldn't come out, citing chronic migraines and fatigue, lack of medication, awful hangovers that churned his stomach, even accidentally falling asleep at a stranger's house and not knowing how to get home - which sometimes was actually the case.
by the time the con was over and he'd been released from prison, casper still did these things to satisfy a lost love of real excitement and life. to this day, casper still frequently sleeps around; alex stanwick, however, is dead.
VERSES
MAGNUS ARCHIVES & ELDRITCH AU
he is manifestation of the fear of isolation, loneliness, and disconnection. being in casper's presence, one might experience despair, a sunless melancholy, and a deep, oppressive yet familiar heaviness. he feeds on your darkest thoughts, the very ones that hold you in the night, but not for comfort. he has the ability to amplify or attenuate these feelings as he sees fit; he does not care the destination to which these thoughts drive you. his powers also include turning himself invisible, a form he often favors, if not thrives within.
as an archival assistant to the magnus institute under the direction of gertrude robinson, casper's main area of study is the spiral, an entity that manifests in the fear of madness, deception, doubts of sanity, and hallucinations. after getting close to kit harris, a known spiral avatar and brutal murderer, and caught, casper is stabbed and left to die. he survives, but only physically. his mental state has shifted, constantly doubting himself and seeing a different sort of image in the mirror. one that is stretched and warped, and behind him, an impossible door, one that was not there, he knows it was not, suddenly opens.
VAMPIRE AU
casper is a young vampire. younger than most, it seems. he meets vampires that are hundreds, sometimes thousands of years old and still pales in comparison; in fact, he should still be alive. he is only 31, after all, but his body will forever be 24 years old. after his maker abandoned him for dead, casper struggles to live on his own. other vampires laugh at him, telling him he's a pathetic excuse for a monster.
god, he knows.
without a doubt, there is no vampire in the world who is afraid of what they consume. casper, who has a debilitating fear of blood, can only survive if he doesn't have to see it. it's a cruel joke, but one with which he must entertain and laugh along . . .
THE SECRET HISTORY AU
after being stabbed and left for dead by ex-lover kit harris, casper decides to move away from los angeles and start over with a new alias, nathaniel king. he places himself in the student records of hampden university, forges a high school degree, transcript, and i.d., and pays the dean a good sum of money for boarding. art forgery is put on the backburner for awhile until he can settle himself down.
rumors quickly circulate hampden about nathaniel. he is the starlet and heartthrob on campus. as well as the drug dealer, they say, the playboy, the slut, the wannabe, new money, old money, his dad's a celebrity, his mom is a pornstar, nathaniel will sleep with anybody. it's hard to gauge what nathaniel is actually like, because he barely talks to anyone outside of the many parties he attends. in class sits a different student, one that is extremely bright and self-driven.
he meets The Classics Gang™ through francis and camilla at a campus party. casper and camilla go on a date together, after francis moans that he was tired of camilla and henry's will-they, won't-they charade. jealousy doesn't look good on henry, for he frames nathaniel for bunny's murder.
suddenly all of nathaniel king's records are gone. his room is emptied, no grades, no class assignments, no evidence that a nathaniel king even existed, except to those who met him. bunny's death struck an old chord with casper, one that sent his bones reeling with paranoia. his alibi isn't a good one: he was performing a heist inside a museum when bunny was pushed.
now he needs help clearing his name before the police find out about the ghost too.
