UMMMM i'll make a better intro post later but FOR CONTEXT, I.O.T.S. (placeholder name, I still haven't figured out a new one...) is a crossover au I made as a kid specifically to cater to my own interests and i've been terribly obsessed with it ever since. This blog is dedicated to said au.

Sorry for not actually posting abt iots again and making it abt something else but thinking abt how our main gang's whole thing is that they defy the odds and escape their fate every single time no matter how close they get to succumbing to it. This whole au is like a fuck you to ash lynx and HE ISNT EVEN IN IT

I can quite literally make any song about tara because i just managed to make a connection between them and mr. brightside when they are like. The least jealous person i know

#okay they do get jealous but like. not notably so. #but i mean that the song fits them in a metaphorical sense because #the 'infidelity' happening is them discovering that everyone they love is bound to each other by fate #but not to THEM. #and since their biggest fear is being left alone... #tis enough to make them sick ^_^ evil space visions do not help #personal #tara #should probably post this on the iots blog

Ummmm what else. Ok I think tara is a character who just wants and wants and wants so much and wants TOO much and wants contradictory things and will have to spend the rest of their life reconciling with the fact that they cant truly have it all and that's okay

I havent really gotten to fleshing out this part yet (and I doubt I will for a while) but disreality horror and identity shenanigans are going to be a big part of iots and I kind of love how this affects tara in a meta way...

because of how severely they were isolated for most of their childhood I think they dealt with depersonalization a fair amount, which is why they're so desperate to create an identity so undeniable that they'll never feel that weird detached feeling ever again. At first this is evident in how hard they try to assimilate with the other kids at the facility, and when that fails they momentarily slip into that detached state again before leo shows up.

And of course its why they dive headfirst into the magical world, trying everything and making as many allies and enemies as possible right off the bat, because they love feeling like they have something to stand for, like they're a part of something, like they belong somewhere and they aren't just a ghost watching from the sidelines.

Thing is though. Tara is the only character in the au who is original. The others all have their own source material, their own stories. Tara has nothing without the rest of them. I regularly have to crop them out of illustrations before i post them on main. Tara is always inherently going to be seperated from everyone they hold dear. Is that not devastating?? If they knew this would it not shatter them. Confirm all their worst fears. Everything they worked so hard to build and protect was never theirs. God I love this song
