After re-reading WOI tonight, I noticed that the gentle moment Spider had with Kiri putting his new oxygen mask on was similar to when Paz helped him put one on in the prologue. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but I like to think it is and that he was reminded of the last time he saw his mom. 👀

you might be on to something there-

the intention was to have spider being completely vulnerable and give up control over his life and put it in kiri's hands (something varang would consider weak), because she could have easily let him suffocate there

but the parallel to paz is canon now! i love it 😭

a lot of times people's complaints about avatar are nonsensical but my biggest beef with avatar is the inconsistency in the characters' fangs. like in shots where they need to look badass you can see their pointy fangs but other times when they're talking or laughing you can see that they have normal human teeth. it pisses me off 💔

Some of y'all in the Avatar fandom obviously use AI to write your fics and it's very disheartening.

I’m gonna have to take one for the team and say it’s more disheartening for artists and writers to see accusations like this, because it makes us less likely to share things we created. It makes people paranoid that their fics “sound like AI”.

“This is obviously AI” that’s not how it works. There is no failsafe way of identifying whether a fic has been written by a human or AI. Even if you think you’re 100% sure, one day you might accuse someone wrongly, and that could cause them to eventually drop their hobby (or at least stop sharing it), because what’s the point if people think you didn’t actually make this.

I myself have been told that my “dialogue sounds like AI”, like as if it’s my fault that I imagine dialogue in my head cinematically to find out how it’d sound, and cinematic dialogue often is kinda cringey. At least that’s what I think they meant, because there is no “it sounds like AI” - AI is trying to imitate us. AI doesn’t have its own writing style. AI is using writing styles it has been fed with. So, pretty much every writing style out there.

If you think something is AI, simply stop reading it, don’t interact with it, block the creator if you must. But please don’t throw out accusations like this. You won’t hurt people who do use AI because they’ll just don’t care, but you’ll hurt real writers.

uhhm.. i feel like some people don't know that just because a character is a protagonist doesn't mean they have to be 100% flawless, good and morally unfallible.

a character can be a protagonist and mess things up or make decisions that have grave consequences. you understand that, right.
