No Animals Were Harmed
Muse A is a scientist working for a secret government organization that studies supernatural creatures. At first, the experiments began in search of an anti-venom to prevent other supernaturals from being created, but the studies have moved onto crueler methods as they begin looking for ways to make Super Soldiers with several Supernaturals’ abilities and none of the weaknesses.
Muse B is one of the creatures (ie, a werewolf or vampire). Living in a cage, constantly being poked and prodded with needles and forced into endurance tests, they clearly aren’t fond of Muse A or their associates.
After Muse A gets promoted, they find themselves alone with the creatures for extended periods of time as they do behavioral studies and blood and body fluid tests. What happens when Muse A gets to know Muse B?
Will Muse B convince Muse A that the tests are unethical and get them to let them go? Or will Muse B try to get revenge on Muse A?
Will Muse A realize that Muse B is more human than they previously thought? Or will they maintain a superiority complex with the creature?
Plot 84: Whispering Woods
Muse A lives in a small town just a stone’s throw away from a dense forest, called the Whispering Woods. Every afternoon, especially in the fall, when the leaves are changing color and the air is crisp, Muse A likes to walk through the woods on their way home. Muse A sits on the kissing rock at the mouth of the woods, straps up their boots and inhales the fresh pine before embarking on the winding path to the log bridge. As Muse A crosses the log bridge, one foot over the over, they enjoy the soft ‘whispers’ (for which the woods are named after) of the meandering creek below. The whispers always seem louder in October for some reason, almost comprehensible. Townspeople like to say it’s because the woods are haunted by spirits, but Muse A’s never been the superstitious type. They’ve been frequenting the woods since they were a kid and nothing spooky has ever happened to them before.
One afternoon, Muse A encounters Muse B in the thick of the towering pines. Muse B looks lost and disheveled, as if they haven’t had a shower or a proper meal in a few days. Concerned for the unfamiliar wanderer, Muse A offers to guide Muse B out of the woods, back to civilization. Muse B instead asks Muse A to stay with them a while; they want to visit the log bridge, their favorite place. Muse A can see that Muse B is the lonely sort, so they agree to walk to the bridge with Muse B; they were headed there anyway. When the pair arrive at the bridge, Muse B struggles to recall why they found this spot so special, or anything about who they are at all to make conversation with Muse A, but they can’t remember. Muse A insists on helping Muse B leave the woods, worried that Muse B might be suffering from amnesia or something worse, but when Muse A gets to the edge of the woods, Muse B, who they thought was right behind them, is nowhere to be found.
Muse A calls out for Muse B for several minutes and gets no response. The sun is going down and the chill in the air is biting through Muse A’s coat, so they go home. They barely sleep that night, thinking about Muse B and hoping they’re alright, wherever they are. Bright and early the next morning, Muse A returns to the woods, hoping to find Muse B again. Muse B is there at the foot of the log bridge, waiting for Muse A, unsure of how they got there or what’s keeping them bound to these woods. Muse B is a ghost, but doesn’t know it.

Plot 111: A Dame Named ‘Lucy’
Muse A is a guarded private investigator, who’s been hardened by years of working cases that no one else wanted. Muse A is at the end of their professional rope, exhausted by a decade of pounding the pavement to get the bad guys, while constantly looking over their shoulder. Through it all, Muse B has been their loyal companion—the one they always turn to when the dam is about to break—the only one that can keep Muse A from resorting to their worst vices. Muse A’s latest assignment—a missing person’s case, involving the sibling of a childhood friend—has Muse A clutching Muse B closer than ever. Muse B is there for all the late nights, easily soothing Muse A’s frayed nerves, seducing Muse B away from the case with their slim figure and intoxicating scent. Muse B is the only reliable thing in Muse A’s dismal world and as such, Muse B’s growing pull on Muse A becomes harder and harder to deny.
Muse B is Muse A’s trusty carton of cigarettes.
April fools!
Optional: Legitimize this plot by turning Muse B into a person involved in the crime who’s deliberately distracting Muse A from solving it. Or keep it as is/insert your own vice, and use this plot for a self para/character study.
:For the Good Of the Kingdom:
Muse A is the newly married wife to the King of their land. As Queen there are certain duties she must perform. Such as managing the castle, hosting diplomats and other royalty, and, most importantly, provide the kingdom with an heir. But try as she might, and how often, Muse A can’t seem to get pregnant at all.
Desperate, and fearing the wrath of her husband if she doesn’t give him a child, she turns to her trusted knight and confidant Muse B for help. He looks enough like the King or his family for it to pass. And as long as she continued to have sex with her husband, and they were careful, no one would be the wiser. After much pleading a reluctant Muse B agrees and the pair conspirer their affair in secret to give the kingdom what it wants.
A Princess Will Always Recognise Her Dragon
Muse A is a Royal Child, Muse B is a Lonely Dragon. Age 3-4, Muse A is out with their parents, a trip from their Winter Palace to their Summer one and there’s a storm, Muse A gets scared and wanders off ending up in the cave where Muse B is resting for that night, flying home from a trip overseas to escape a lynch mob. Muse B is lonely (and not that hungry) so they end up taking Muse A with them. So Muse A grows up in an abandoned broken castle, forgetting they’re royalty, a fact that Muse B was never aware of.
When Muse A is 21, knights storm the castle & ‘rescue’ them, taking them ‘home’ and back to their parents. Muse A doesn’t want to go ‘home’ they want to stay with Muse B. They hate the clothes, hate the people, hate the shoes, hate the entire experience, and try to run away constantly but keep getting dragged back.
Muse A has never gotten over their fear of storms and whenever there was one, they’d curl against Muse B’s side & they’d drop their wing over Muse A so they couldn’t see it and they’d feel safer. A storm happens after Muse A has been in the castle for 2 months and they’re absolutely terrified and curl in their bed, crying and wishing for their dragon.
A week later in Court, a new knight appears. Rather than swearing fealty to the kingdom or to Muse A’s parents, this knight swears to Muse A. And then they look up. Muse A knows those eyes, knows them well. That’s their dragon, Muse B is human. They made Muse B human, since both of them needed and wished for proximity, the universe did what it had to to make it happen. And Muse A so happy to see Muse B (and they’re really rather beautiful in human form)
