I am Varethane (or Thane for short)! I go by the same handle on Twitter, Bluesky, Instagram, Pillowfort, and Mastodon. My reblogs go to Thanereblogs, and I have a second Bluesky, XIVsorrel, just for my FFXIV posts.

I make comics! Here's my 2 main webcomics:

Wychwood: A sci-fi/post-apocalypse adventure! A girl with pyrokinetic powers and her best friend are recruited/kidnapped in by a morally dubious organization dedicated to fighting magical aliens.

Chirault: A complete high fantasy adventure about a little girl who gets shrunk to squirrel-size, and enlists the reluctant help of a demon hunter who's also a demon himself. (He was the only one around, okay!)

So hey!!! I've just launched a Kickstarter campaign, and this one is to make a cool slipcase boxset collection for Chirault, my complete high fantasy webcomic :D

I've wanted to have some sort of cool boxset edition for YEARS, like ever since I finished the story....so this yeah, I want to make it happen. And you can help, by sharing the campaign around!

So the campaign has hit its goal already! 🎊🎊🎊 I thought I wouldn't be here so quickly, but I guess its time to think about stretch goals...... so I will have more news soon.

Chirault Boxset and Volume 1-2 Combined Edition

Printing a boxset slipcase for the high fantasy webcomic Chirault!

On account of how quickly the initial copies sold out, I've retroactively decided to make my first stretch goal be a reprint of my Shenanigans minicomic!

This 48-page short story is set about 20 years before the main story of Chirault picks up. It originally released in 2012 on the website (where it can still be read), in between chapters 13 and 14.

So it is possible to interpret it as Astrid telling Teeko about these events while they travelled to Aerquist via airship... or maybe just thinking about them while telling her something else about his childhood growing up there. :)

Anyway, because of the reprint, I've removed the limit on the amount of minicomics available as add-ons on the Kickstarter!

After the designs of the new patch crafted gear were released for FFXIV, I started seeing art of Zenos with the cute heart scythe.... and it IS a great scythe, but it also got me thinking, what about my guy Estinien, a fellow maiming class? What about.... cute heart spear?
