❝ then i guess it’s good i talked myself out of offering you a drink . ❞ she replied humorlessly weight shifting . he wasn’t the first to say it ( certainly wouldn’t be the last ) , that spectres and their discrepancy leaves too much room for secrets . but she could spare a lopsided smile for him and his sentiments towards her occupation . ❝ if everything could be solved with explosions , i’d be on board . unfortunately , we both know it isn’t the case . ❞ even now . the idea of being completely eradicated , one would think , would rally everyone together , but as expectations served , even in the face of possible extinction everyone retained their agenda , even her own . ❝ besides , it seems like everyone’s business is on the line . ❞ tela shrugged , ❝ doesn’t hurt to make a few new friends in the meantime . ❞
the general gives her half of a shrug at the confirmation of no explosions ‘ fair enough. lucky for you making momentary friends is also a part of my style. ‘ an obnoxious laughter rings out as another husk’s head is scattered across the dirt of menae. my planet is falling, the general thinks, and i’m chatting up an asari spectre. he shakes his head. you really have your priorities set, adrien. as long as he kept shooting, though, everything would be fine. once this wave of reapers resided he could regroup, get his men together and “ rally the troops “ , they needed that boost now, more than ever. maybe he could send this spectre to try and set up another forward camp farther down the ridge. ‘ right now, as long as you can shoot you’re a friend of mine. ‘
at least he was amiable enough . that or facing extinction had a tendency to alleviate any prideful rejections to assistance ( some turians were big on that , winning their own war or something like that , like it was an achievement to be had ) . ❝ then consider me friendly . councils orders were ambiguous -- ‘ help where you’re needed ‘ --- ❞ she clarified , ❝ so as long as you’re not setting me up to go toe-to-toe with a ten story reaper , tell me what you need . ❞ of course there were specific placements at times , sear and rescue , relieving tactics , taking the pressure off where they could , and menae was next on her map for the time being ( though she loathed the moment thessia would inevitably become the next ) .

“spectre? really? i doubt omega needs you here. feel like you’ve got bigger fish to fry.” it wasn’t the smartest idea, calling out a spectre like that, but on omega, that title hardly meant much unless it was under aria’s belt. he goes back to fixing up his blade, hardly paying her any mind. “but, i’ll bite. ‘specially if you’re around these parts. what exactly can i help you with, huh?”
❝ what omega needs isn’t really my concern ----- ❞ not her job either . if anything , omega was a false safe haven . any and all criminals that passed on her radar usually sought refuge from the council’s grip at the lawless station as if it would save them . ❝ but since you’re so eager to help , i’m looking for a batarian , passed through here less than a day ago . ❞ she said , noting how inherently vague she was being , but it came with purpose . a mix of not giving away too much , and paranoid that if word spread that she was looking that he’d slip through her fingers .
asaricouncilor:
Tela Vasir, a decorated Asari Commando, and now one of the Elite of the Council, a Spectre. And Tevos was honored to see such a skilled Asari take up the mantle as Spectre in the first place, it warmed her heart the day when she and the other Councilors painted her in the honorable title, and gave her the responsibility that comes with the position.
As of recently however, Tevos have been recalled to Thessia on a most important errand, one that was off any official records that the Asari Councilor was even going to leave the Citadel. Yes, not even the other Councilors have been alerted to her absent from her seat. And it was Tevos’s own doing to keep her low profile, and even the information under the radar.
When she emerged from her office, Tevos was not adorned in any formal attires or even a casual outfit suitable for travel. No, she emerged adorned in a armored hardsuit, similar to the a Commando’s bodyarmor. Something Vasir would most likely recognize. And with a helmet under her arm, Tevos gestured to the Spectre for their departure.
“I will brief you underway. Now, let us head for the roof, there is a sky car waiting to take us to my personal shuttle. We’ll be traveling light, fast and off the books. Do you understand Vasir? Nobody must know I am absent from the Citadel….”
Without delay, or even a wait for a reply from the Spectre, Tevos stepped past the asari Spectre and made her way towards the manual stairs leading up to the rooftop private parking pad for those who worked under the Councilor herself. The pad was vacated at this time, as most apart from Tevos’s personal assistants have departed from the office. She awaited Vasir by the sky car, overlooking the Placidium from this height. Something deep was bothering the Councilor, for it was most unlike her to do anything brash and irrational, especially when secrecy was a part of the mission.
But what if, something terrible had happened, and why did she specifically pick an Asari Spectre above all the others? There were more experienced and hardier Spectres than Vasir at this time, but none had the one specific trait that made her instantly trustworthy. She was an Asari. Meaning, this was Asari business, domestic within the Asari High Command, it was the only logical conclusion, and that of Tevos not wanting the other races to know of the events that have occurred right under their very noses.
❝ got it , councilor . ❞ her words and step fell behind tevos , letting her lead to the departure point . tela vasir could readily admit that councilor tevos , out of her normal attire , was abnormal in every sense . of course , that alone sparked suspicions ---- though it could have simply been a means of disguise , she couldn’t but wonder why . in addition to hurried remarks , and the hush-hush nature of everything , she had questions about the impromptu assignment but saved them for later .
when she stopped at the councilor’s side , tela hazard a cautious look at their surroundings , seemingly vacant , cleared preemptively . she let the councilor get in the sky car first , allowing herself one last cautious gaze to the parking pad before entering herself . ❝ so that briefing . ❞ she said , skycar lifting from it’s spot to head to keyed in destination , ❝ should i expect it now or later ? ❞ tela’s concern was a matter of expectations , as in she wasn’t sure if she should have them , or what to expect exactly . being in the dark on something that was so covert wasn’t exactly something she liked . though her parameters were simply put along the liens of escort/bodyguard , that wasn’t enough .
❝ i mean the utmost respect, but i don’t like being in the dark , councilor . ❞ especially when a councilor’s life rested on her shoulders and her shoulders alone . as a spectre , she didn’t really think that any actual conjunction with the councilors would become a mission in itself . from what she gathered from the first few assignments was that they relayed a concern , and by proxy , she investigated it to find a solution and quell concerns . this was ------ too close , different from skating the edges of council space in the underbelly of the galaxy .
present times bode well , save for one job that should be manageable . key word : should . tela vasir , in her days before and presently being a spectre she mastered in the art of investigation , following leads , solving cases , not one did she think she’d be an escort and assumed that she’d probably make a piss poor body guard . but like she thought before , it SHOULD be manageable . of course , the first time she had to really attempt to get a grip on the concept of escorting it would be for councilor tevos , one of the most prominent asari to walk the galaxy ( just her luck ) .
she stood patiently near the door of Tevos’ office as if venturing further in would be an even deeper intrusion than the one she was doing by even standing there in the first place ( should have just waited in the waiting room with C-Sec ) . it wasn’t that she hadn’t spoken or been near Tevos previously , but those moments were scarce, and often had most of their conversations over audio call while she was in some ass end sector of the galaxy or when she made a brief drop off of any pertinent paperwork .
for the first five minutes of Tevos gathering herself within the office she spent wondering whether or not she should stand formally ( like in the old commando days , hands behind back , shoulder square , ready for orders ) or just how she wanted ( weight shifted , arms crossed , the impatience she felt embodied in form and face ) . in the end she stood with her hands hanging at her sides , watching and waiting .
❝ not to be rude or anything councilor . ❞ she started , ❝ but everything is ready to go when you are . ❞
@asaricouncilor /
you think , “ mass effect andromeda !! a chance to save my character that died !!! “ but then you remember that she dies in mass effect 2 and andromeda is between 2 and 3 and it’s just another canon divergent hell hole . NICE .

“Don’t you dare judge me!”
@vasirs.
the general snarls, cursing the spirits he holds in such high regard. he hears them echoing around him in the split-second pops of gun fire and the shouting and groaning of his men. they’re tired of fighting and he knows it, but he can’t give up– not when menae is so close to being over-run. ‘ you spectre’s aren’t really my type, y’know. ‘ he laughs to himself, a momentary relapse into denial before falling back to grim features. ‘ too quiet, to sneaky. running around, doing the council’s business. loud and obnoxious is more of my style. ‘
' i've taken care of myself for a long time. '
❝ didn’t doubt it . ❞ she admitted , the hallmark of turians was self efficiency , individually and as a cohesive unit . her implications wasn’t meant to NEGATE that but simply put a few pages of reality into perspective .
❝ —– no offense , but this isn’t going to be your run of the mill op . ❞ as if anything she was ever a part of could be “run of the mill” in any way, shape , or form . ❝ i’m not going to stop you if you still want to tag along for it , but it won’t be pretty or easy . ❞ at the base of it all , her concern wasn't focused on his ability to protect himself over the possibility that his urge to stop and protect civilians or fallen soldiers would be infallible . where she knew it was pointless , he may ( almost guaranteed in her mind if she was honest , the doubt was simply out of respect ) see it differently .

❝ everybody has to feel superior to somebody. ❞
❝ if you want to be technical , sure . ❞ Tela could admit in some sense , aria was right ( though no need it say it out loud , she already probably assumed she was ) . the question , in her head , was never about superiority , but who was smart enough to out do . It seemed ingrained in arrogance that she could never match to aria’s but she saw no reason to .
❝ ----- there’s always someone better , always someone who wants to the best . ❞ she scoffed , ❝ but i get the feeling you mean just you . ❞

❝ you think i’m lying? ❞
she scoffs , a replacement for the laugh she would have let out from the question .❝ you don’t really scream honesty . ❞ —- and she wasn’t too keen on trusting either . trusting wasea in nearly anything was a hard sell , but so far she’s delivered just enough to curb her doubt in the slightest .
❝ you want me to believe you ? stop giving me bullshit and give me something work with wasea . ❞
