Heavy Cardboard Game Night
Have you ever found yourself strolling down our game aisle, staring in wonder at those HEAVY games? Weâre not talking about ones which require a team lift (though some do), but those strategy-heavy, ultra-complex, 4-hour games youâd need a committed posse to play. Those hefty price tag games youâd certainly want to try before you buy. But HOW?
Weâve long despaired that weâre unable to play these time-intensive heavy-hitters at our regular game nights, so weâve created a special gaming event for just this purpose! Sign up for the crunchy game of your choice: Arkham Horror, Fury of Dracula, Rising Sun, or Scythe. Settle in as our seasoned Game Masters guide you through an intimate afternoon of gaming at Speciation Artisan Ales, all without ever having to crack a rule book!

$5 voucher toward the game of your choice at Vault of Midnight on 6/30
Scythe is an engine-building, asymmetric, competitive board game set in an alternate-history 1920s period. It is a time of farming and war, broken hearts and rusted gears, innovation and valor.
It is a time of unrest in 1920s Europa. The ashes from the first great war still darken the snow. The capitalistic city-state known simply as âThe Factory,â which fueled the war with heavily armored mechs, has closed its doors, drawing the attention of several nearby countries.
In Scythe, each player represents a fallen leader attempting to restore their honor and lead their faction to power in Eastern Europa. Players conquer territory, enlist new recruits, reap resources, gain villagers, build structures, and activate monstrous mechs.
Rising Sun is a board game for 3 to 5 players set in legendary feudal Japan. As the Kami descend from the heavens to reshape the land in their image, it is up to each player to lead their clan to victory. Use politics to further your cause, negotiate to seek the most profitable alliances, worship the Kami to gain their favor, recruit monsters out of legend to bolster your forces, and use your resources wisely to be victorious in battle.
It is 1898. London has returned to peace for eight years following Count Draculaâs thwarted plans, or so they thoughtâŠ
In Fury of Dracula, one player is Count Dracula secretly traveling the European countries, turning humans into vampires with his gruesome bite, and laying deadly traps for those hunting him. The Countâs opponents are the Hunters who must find the bloodthirsty villain and destroy him before his undead thralls claim the night as their own.
Arkham is home to a host of strange, otherworldly occurrences, from bizarre astronomical events to a sense of déjà vu that permeates the whole city.
Few know the terrible truth, the source of these anomalies, the nightmares beyond imagination. But it is an investigator's job to get to the putrid heart of these mysteries, to follow horrifying threads and discover this unknowable truth. Can they survive with their sanity intact?
There are four distinct scenarios inviting you to journey into Arkham, and these scenarios provide a new way to play the game with every playthrough. Not only do they provide different goals, monsters, board layouts, and narrative stories, these narratives even have branching paths based on your performance and choices. Regardless of the scenario, your investigators will be pushed to the edge of sanity in their search for answers better left unearthed.
