“So, I hear the idiots dealing on my turf were yours.” He smirked. “My deepest condolences.” He grinned, looking more like a mad man than a man looking to have a civil conversation between leaders. “I thought about letting it go with a warning but they took money away from us. Which means that they took food out of my family’s mouths.”

He stepped a few inches closer to Dragan. “And if my family can’t eat, then it’s a problem. You see, I have always considered myself as a reasonable man but family is important. I’m sure you know just how important family is, yeah? How’s your brother? Still having a mental breakdown?” He chuckled. “I hear your sister is struggling too. Pity, she’s been around way too long to still be struggling with power.”

did dragan want to be here, no but he had to because he was the leader of course. there were many who didn’t take him seriously due to his age, and the way that he presented himself. the soft boy, the one whom was always nice and gentle-like. yeah, that was him at one point of his life but after the leader of the pack of dogs killed his father that went downhill. though, one wouldn’t know him truthfully as his persona perceived to the public was nothing be an act. a publicity stunt to get people to favor him more. no, dragan had a more sinister outlook on life now, one would say that him changing to a darker approach on life was sadden to see in the once bright child. he had a strong thirst for revenge. 

this would be the first time meeting with the alpha dog. an how fitting of a location that he would pick the docks, nightblood’s turf when this whole ordeal of a meeting was solely about people from nightbloods being on howler’s territory. quite hypocritical but dragan didn’t expect any less from anyone in agdeog. the more he gotten closer, the more the feeling of eyes boring into his flesh became stronger. of course, he could sense it from before he even stepped onto the docks. funnily, he looked as though he was trying to intimidate dragan. he supposed since he was young he should be scared, okay maybe a bit. though when someone was looming five times your size it could become overbearing. at the same time it was a bit cringy for him even for him. 

“my deepest condolences for the many times we found out howlers were crossing our territory as well.” he returned the grin. no need to be an asshat at the start of the meeting. so much for the start of a normal conversation. dragan knew that even his reply could cause a shift in dynamics and a possible unfortunate to ensue as quickly as it started. he continues to listen to the man’s words, they were all probably lies. dragan wouldn’t believe in the slightest bit that howlers would’ve let nightbloods go if caught in their territory. “no need to bullshit, i’m sure you wouldn’t have let them go...” he spoke, pulling out his pack of cigarettes because how things were turning he knew for certain that he would need one to get through this ‘meeting’. 

“though, i have a few questions.” he stated after lighting the cigarette, and taking a step back for well , personal space.  dragging the nicotine out into his lungs and exhaling out towards the older male he started once again. “how is it nightblood’s fault that your family can’t eat? i’m sure that howler’s have more than enough money to feed your growing pack. how much money did they even take and to say they did it seems like security isn’t all too good on your part no? also, you tell me to come here to the docks which is my territory to tell me my people were on yours? i would say this is pretty hypocritical but i don’t entirely expect much out of your ragtag gang.” 

ah, here we go. family, yes it is very important so important that one more pry into matters that doesn’t concern him. “why does it matter? if you want to know so much about him go find him and ask yourself. it’s not hard. my sister, huh? is that another baseless rumor you heard circling around, big dog?” dragan spoke, rolling his eyes at the questions he’s been asked. he came here to speak upon members breaching territories, not shit talk about someone’s family.

“I know that we aren’t where we used to be. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that I wish to see you fail.” With a roll of his eyes, he leaned back again. “I guess I can offer my help if you need it. Because at the end of the day, if this gang goes belly up, they will blame the Jeups. And neither one of us want to tarnish our family’s name, correct?” He cocked a brow towards the youngest sibling. “And for the record, I did care. I cared a hell of a lot.”

“even if you didn’t want to be leader, it was still your responsibility to take that position. this was your job, not anyone else. it have literally been years since your mother has died, and you said that this is what she wanted, but you’ve turned to drugs, sex, and doing whatever the fuck else you want. so, if anything you’re disappointing her even in her grave.” dragan grew tired of the same excuses, same lecture over and over from his older brother. if  he wanted someone to continue to feel sorry for him, dragan was the last person to go to. “then if i don’t have what it takes, why the fuck are you still allowing me to lead! just say you don’t care about the nightbloods or even what those dogs did to our family and be done with it.

he didn’t want this position, but to keep the nightbloods going he took one for the team and agreed to it. he didn’t ask to be born, hell he didn’t even cause their dad to cheat on the olders mother with a dragon, but here he was being lectured on his performance as a leader by someone who failed to even comply and take the position that was meant for him in the first place. very fitting. “ you’re not trying to be a dick, but you’re being a dick anyways. i do ask questions and i do take advice from people who’ve been here before me. the reason why you don’t see it is because you’re never here alucard. don’t you think you’re expecting much for someone whose only twenty-one years old?” he questioned the male. 

sure they can sense that dragan was stressed, he was young and had a shit ton of responsibilities on his shoulders. what was he suppose to do, be all smiles and breeze through like it was nothing? of course, dragan was close to his father, learning things here and there but his time with the old man was cut shorter than his older siblings. to be blamed and lectured for everything that he was doing was quite unfair in his opinion. he was the youngest of the siblings so, what all were they expecting from him? though, he still had a lot to learn even now -- that he knew, it was still foolish to underestimate him as much as his older brother was doing. after all, he was still a jeup and he was still capable of doing a lot more than what people expected from him.

“i don’t even recall what we used to be so save it. you sound pretty reluctant to even do so, considering how quickly you moved out as well as just hardly showing up. don’t worry, there are more people in nightbloods that are willing to help.”

     “it’s not that.” her head tilting, gaze trailing the dancer on stage, the finger tapping against her chin raising to point at said dancer on stage, “i hardly think she’s suitable to be on stage.” limb retracting swiftly, coming to fold in front of her as her gaze finally moves to rest on her brother. she adored him, despite the lack of words that she seldom manages to muster up, he was someone she would risk life and limb for. the impassivity embracing her features was not as keen on showing her true colours, though her thoughts would never betray her. 

     gaze trailing down along the other’s features, resting on the table before narrowing on the dancer again, “pathetic at best.” forefinger moving to shift the strands of ebony behind her back, revealing the red strap of her dress. it was an expected standard to uphold the brilliance of club cache in the name and glory of the nightbloods, it was hardly acceptable to have someone who was meant to represent the club giving any less than one hundred and twenty percent. “a stern talking to should do. there’s no need to be so rash with ridding anyone.” turning to dragan, a smile peering at her corners. “though i do appreciate the offer.”

sypha played an important role within the syndicate, she was the underboss after all. if she wasn’t as nonchalant about her position as she was, dragan would think she would have made a better leader than he. after all, she was significantly older than her by a vast number of years. for dragan, being as young as he was he felt like he still needed a lot of work in many areas when it came to leading such a powerful syndicate such as nightbloods. though, sypha made it clear her lack of interest in leading, dragan still made his older sister feel important, letting her plan into decision making solely if she wanted too. even if it was the little things such as maintaining buildings under their control. 

he would take her words into consideration. if it was something that she didn’t like they were to simply get rid of it. it was as plain as that, when it came to his position he had to set his cares aside. leaders within this line of work were known to be ruthless and the last thing that he wanted to do was come off as soft. 

his gaze moves towards the dancer again. a small hum follows after. “so, she’s not good enough in your opinion. i think we can replace this one for a better opportunity.” he spoke as he looks to one of the men with him to notify the owner that the female dancer needs to go and with that find someone better to replace her. the club was another asset in a way to make money and the last thing that was needed was to be losing because of lack of entertainment. 

“sometimes it’s what needs to be done in order to gain something better. if one isn’t entertained then i’m sure other people aren’t either. she’s been here for a while and each time i don’t see improvement.“

yongtae was someone that was important to dragan. the man has told him countless times that he'd been around nightbloods for years, in which dragan believed as he remember the male from when he was younger. he didn't really care for his extensive background information, but the younger male did appreciate the advice given to him when it was needed. yongtae was leaning more on the 'yes man' side of his line of work. always ready to do whatever , no matter how ridiculous the task given to him was. as to be expected for a caporegime.

as much as his brother seemed to annoy him, he did contemplate of just getting rid of the older male many of days, but the respect that he had for his older siblings was something that overpowered his desire to do so. he looks the older with a stoic expression leaned back in his chair. there were times when dragan found the older so say some things that didn’t add up to the wisdom that the male had retained over the years he’s been living. you would think after a hundred and more so years of existing the dragon would know what and what not to say.

“ i could just kill you and be done with it too. ” anything was possible, but for now he wouldn’t dare lay a finger on the man who would without a second thought in his mind jump off a cliff if he asked him too.  “ as fun as it would seem to just waltz downstairs and do that, realistically we cannot. ” he reassured the older, easing his mind from the thought of killing. there were more important matter to be discussed at the moment. “ what was this important files you had wanted me to see ? ”

THE IN-BETWEEN

a place somewhere between the living and the divine where children of the gods can come and live out their royal pampering with their parents. These places exist outside of time and space, and is significantly unique to the their parent.

castle tops basking in the rays of dawn, adorned by vines and thorns that carry their way through the crevices of the building. like an unswept canvas made of silk that thrusts itself upon the makings of grandeur, both reminiscent of royalty as well as the gentleness of the youngest jeup. flora lacing the window sills as roses grow sparingly on the forefront, only to be littered by the subtle colours across its columns as one enters deeper into the realm. in between the lust of power and the grace of his desires, the white paints the perfect image of an essence so pure yet so clean and undefined. a slate left to be self interpreted though, alluring enough that it has an impact of its own left unattended.

roses dotting the castle’s edge, pathways lighted by rows and rows of rose bushes. shrubs knee height, though the familiar scent of sweetened clove beckons to its crafter. gentle yet… sophisticated and deadly. the thorns lathering it’s spines, so fragile, velvet to the touch yet… so— so, threatening.

grandeur staircases that lead to an array of rooms, one for every occasion that lingers by the soul, no unnecessary cluttering as he prefers it that way. open, fresh and free. the autonomy, the liberty that he withholds shadows the castle that peers through the in between. intricate designs by the high ceilings, high enough that his scales don’t graze the edges of the designs. antique and well crafted, perhaps by the hands of his father. a legacy lead forward by his own, careful that wind up the handrail, white marble and cold to the touch. some semblance to the crafter. arches and hallways litter the place, as golden globes light the way. oil portraits hanging off the walls, large enough that it would take days at a time to admire. the emphasis on sophistication and depth, the colour though bleak, it stood out from everything white. a sweet contrast all in itself.

like lace on his mother’s attire, it’s embedded in the hallways of the estate, inspirations always stemming at the root. though, over time it morphs into something more personal, more in tune with himself. it’s intricate, it’s thoughtful and it’s picturesque as it is threatening and gloomy. the gazebo by the opening, a perfect example of something so simple, so pure yet could so easily do harm. tender fingertips pricking against the ceramic columns, a line of red draws across it and dyes the white a deep shade of sanguine. so alluring, so miscalculated, so… so him.

his visits have dwindled, responsibilities and diligence weighing on both his shoulders. hopes of frequenting it more, though duty weighs more heavily. time spent here, leaves a calm wave to rekindle in his soul, like the golden orbs that light the way, he is reinvigorated at every small chance he gets to visit.

so alluring. so gentle. yet, so threatening.

for dragan his position in the bedroom didn’t matter much to him as long as he gotten the satisfaction he wanted out of it, that was good enough for him. of course, only if that said person was good enough in bed otherwise, they’d be left alone to please themselves. thankfully for ashton that wasn’t the case -- considering that this wasn’t their first time together in the bedroom. 

“ that can be arranged. ” a smirk gracing over his lips as his eyes followed the younger male. hearing the way ashton talk got him riled up even more. he didn’t know whose name he was trying to forget but he would make sure that the only name he would be screaming out was his own. as he found the sounds of one only letting his name pass from their lips was something rather satisfying, especially coming from someone as pretty as ashton was. 

his eyes would continue to follow him onto the bed, moving closer. “ what made you so bold to start teasing me now ? ” he asked, enjoying this little game he had going. it was something new, different. he liked it, it kept him interested. his movements, his neediness, just overall him made him waste no time and as if there was some kind of magnetic force, dragan found himself grabbing ahold of his leg, moving over him. his hand moving up his thigh, caressing his soft skin. “ how can i keep you waiting when you’re being like this. ah, now i’ve grown a bit impatient but since you want to play, i’ll play too. ” 

leaning down more, he presses his lips over the younger’s, a possible growing addiction that he had with just the softness of his lips. this was more of infatuation than him having some crush on the male. dragan didn’t know how to love, it wasn’t something that he was taught but maybe before taking his position as leader of the nightblood had he still been the dragan he was before he probably would have found some sort of affection towards the younger male. with his hips pressing over laced brief of the younger male’s, dragan’s hands slides up to his, moving his arms over his head. 

“ then i’ll just have to find a way to tie your hands up so that you don’t. ” he spoke in a low tone, his lips already having made his way down to his neck, focusing his attention more to moving his lips over his skin than to wanting to sink his fangs into the male’s neck due to how good he smelled.

Ashton hadn’t been expecting company but the text from Dragan was welcomed. He needed a distraction. Kai showing up at his doorstep with his favorite fucking flowers was enough to have his mind all fucked up. His shaggy mullet was pulled back in a ponytail. Loose hairs framed his face. He’d just showered and his face was flushed, making him look as if he’d just run a mile. The sound of the bell was enough to have his bare feet Pitter pattering across the floor.

He opened the door, pulling the older man inside. “Hey.” He greeted him before leaning in and pecking his lips. He’d grown use to the habit and he honestly needed it, right now. “I was happy that you texted. This week has been so fucking crazy. But I’m sure that you don’t want to hear about that.” He smiled and locked the door behind Dragan. He’d grown comfortable with the other man. They never went too deep into their lives but they seemed to be exactly what the other needed at the right time.

Ashton grabbed Dragan’s hand in his much smaller one and led him into his bedroom. Sure, they could talk and he could tell him about his ex showing up and fucking with his head. But that wasn’t why Dragan was here. They both knew why he’d chosen to come over and it wasn’t for small talk and snacks. He closed the door behind them and sat on the bed. “I need a distraction.” He confessed. His tongue darted out to wet his pouty lips. “Can you be that, for me?”

the familiar sound of the lock undoing was what he was waiting for. it hadn’t taken long from the time he rung the doorbell to hear the rushed steps of the younger making his way to the door. he lifts himself from off the siding that he had been leaning on, facing the doorway as it opened to reveal his face. it’s a small smirk that appears on his face when he feels the male’s lips upon his for a brief moment before he’s letting him pull him inside his apartment. “ yeah, it’s been crazy for me too. ” he stated as he looked at him returning the smile. 

this was all meaningless to him, and he’d predicted correctly to not wanting to hear about whatever it was that was bothering him in that moment. dragan had only come by for one thing and that was sex. though, he couldn’t tell the other that he didn’t care. he had a reputation to uphold after all, even if the younger had no clue who he actually was. “ i’m sure all that can wait until after if you still want to talk about it. ” he spoke, he didn’t mind an attempt listening after he relieved his stress but the only thing that was on his mind was getting to the bedroom. clearly ashton had the same thoughts in mind as he followed him to their final destination being the bedroom. 

standing in front of the male, he looks down at him and only a mere moment from the words being spoken, he finds himself leaning down with his lips hovering over the smaller’s. “ if you tell me exactly what you want then maybe. ” he teased the younger, awaiting his reply.

there weren’t many times when he could walk away from stressful days within his life. when he was able too he took every opportunity to make some time for himself. finding solace within the night time of the city’s streets. he finds himself a secluded area, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it up. the drag, the feel of nicotine pulling through his lungs relieved only small amounts of stress that had been building up the course of the day. 

he begins to wonder what it would be like to live life careless without any worries. to live a normal life as a citizen was something that fascinated him, intrigued him in many ways. alas, it would only be a mere thought in his mind as that wouldn’t come fort to him any time soon. he takes another drag of his cigarette and looks around. taking in his surroundings, the streets were empty and less chaotic for once. it was unusual for nothing to be going on within the late hour. didn’t the most dangerous things take place in the night time or did everyone get bold enough to commit crimes in broad daylight?

loud noise could be heard in the distance, followed by footsteps. he’s alert as his senses always allowed him to hear even the slightest of things. he moves his attention to the source to find himself looking at a male walking alone. he watches his actions, it would seem the other was in his own thoughts until he began to act out in a way that was leaning towards the delinquent side. was it fun? he wondered as he began walking, his pace falling behind the male. 

 “ is it fun, trashing up the area? ” he asked, not in a way of scolding but just out of sheer curiosity.

he’d lost count of the times he had met up with the younger male. the many times that he would let out any frustrations he held with him under ruffled sheets in the confines of the male’s apartment. he couldn’t tell what drawn him to the other but maybe it was just his company that dragan found himself craving on certain days. maybe it was the attention that the younger gave to him that made him linger around him longer than he actually should. 

it wasn’t often they would meet up as the nightblood’s boss had piling schedules and work to do that made him lose a lot of time of him just wanting to leave like the rest of the civilians within agdoeg. he had a job to uphold and a revenge seeking plot to fulfill against the low lives known as the howlers. they were building up a foundation rather slowly but slowly was still enough to see them as some sort of threat due to their assassination of the previous leader ; his father. today he had nothing to do. 

he finds himself standing outside of ashton’s apartment, keeping his identity hidden from anyone who would possibly pass by him. he always had to be careful of his surroundings as any moment could be his last with the dangers that lurked around the city. he would ring the doorbell, only assuming that the younger was home. the last they spoke was mere hours ago through text message. dragan opted to send another one stating his presence but even to him he felt as though it was too much work. him showing up without letting the other know was more of a surprise -- not entirely caring much if ashton had anything to do prior his arrival. 

for now, he leans against the siding of the door, waiting to hear the familiar sounds of clicking of the locks and the door opening so reveal the face he’d wanted to see.

Alucard sat up, eyes trained on his younger brother. “Get over it?” He scoffed, laughing at his choice of words. “Who are you to tell me to get over it? You will never know the bond that we held. Now, it’s not your fault that you’re the product of an affair, Dragan. But it is my choice to ignore you.” He shrugged. “You say that you both are pulling your weight and mine as if I don’t do my job. I was literally born to be in charge. Can you imagine the pressure that was put on me, Dragan? Even before you were born, I was forced into a role that I never asked for.”

He waved a hand dismissively. “Alas, I’ve taken on a lesser role abs I excel at that too. So, it seems to me that you’re the one who is struggling. Not me. I’m doing pretty damn good at my job.” He smirked. “Look, I learned everything because my mother wanted me to. She wanted to see me on top. Now, she’s not here so what’s the fucking point?” He questioned. “I could get my shit together and take the position but where is the fun in that?”

Alucard felt that he’d only continued to be in the gang because being a hit man was pretty fun. “Oh and name calling isn’t nice. Baekhyun is a very nice boy. He’s not a whore at all.” He picked his phone back up and began to text the blonde back. “I think you two would get along. I don’t think he will be around for long though. You know how I am.”

bad choice of words, he knew for certain but as of right now he didn’t care. he was frustrated, tired, and fed up with his older brother’s actions. the whole repetitive rant went through one ear and out the other as his expression held stoic. when growing up he never recalled the older to be as annoying and whiny than he was being now. he understood that his mother’s death was something that hit hard, but it’s been years. “ you honestly say the same things over and over again. don’t you get tired of hearing yourself repeat the same thing? ” he asked, biting the inside of his cheek. 

so what if he was the product of an affair. how could one be upset with him over something that wasn’t even in his control? it was his father’s choice to go and sleep with another woman. if anything he should continue his hatred for their late father. he leans back in his seat and stare at the middle child. was this purposely done? the eldest didn’t want anything to do with responsibility nor did the second oldest. so throw everything onto the youngest? the mixed blood? was he actually hated between his siblings? he couldn’t be sure, he couldn’t read people’s thoughts even if alucard spoken his out loud. 

“ yes, it was your responsibility. meaning you were suppose to take over but you let your emotions take over you. you think i asked for this position? no, because you failed to live up to your expectations the roll over this syndicate was handed to me. i didn’t even get a say in this! ” dragan never had a bad temper until the death of their father. heartbreak and the determination to wipe out the howlers fueled his pent up anger lashing out towards anyone that new him closely or pissed him off greatly. his older brother was one to get him riled up due to the amount of disappointment he felt by his actions. “ do you even care about this family? ” he asked curiously. “ even when your mother was alive did you care? ” 

he closes his eyes for a moment, moving his head from side to side as if to find some sort of way to relieve himself from doing something that would ultimately get him killed. as much as he wanted to hit the older in the middle of his face, alucard was way stronger than him. even that knowledge was enough to make him even more upset. “ oh, how rude of me. i meant your lunch can wait. ”

When it came to family, Alucard had always been the closest to his mother. Growing up, his siblings meant the world to him. He had been especially close to his younger brother. He remembered running around the Jeup house, playing hide and seek or teaching the youngest Jeup how to ride a bike. He had been his protector. He would have never let anyone hurt him, no matter if it was with words or physical violence. But things had changed.

Now, Alucard rarely set foot in the Jeup house unless he absolutely needed to. His relationships with his siblings have become strained and he has grown to despise his younger brother. He knew that his mother had been hurt by the affair but she never took it out on Dragan. He was innocent throughout the whole situation. He didn’t know why he’d agreed to meet his brother. Their conversations had become nothing but biting words and looks of disdain.

Alucard leaned back in his chair and ran a hand through his onyx tresses. “Why am I here, Dragan?” He asked, eyes narrowed at his younger brother. “I have much better things that I could be doing.” His phone buzzed on top of the table and he picked it up. “Speaking of better things to do.” He smirked and shot back a text to the pretty blonde he’d met yesterday. “Make it quick, please.” He said to the youngest Jeup.

it wasn’t his fault that he was the product of an affair, nor was it his fault that he was born. he didn’t ask for this life, nor did he ask to be in this position that was given to him. his older brother that was now before him, this was suppose to be his job but now the older had succumb to a lifestyle that was more embarrassing than disappointing. he didn’t hate his older brother, in fact dragan had a certain fondness for all of his siblings. he could remember a time when alucard was close to him, but since his mother had died things changed drastically for his older brother. the male grew distant between them, severing the bond that they once had. 

dragan felt a since of jealousy, for the older male had gotten to know his mother before she died whereas he never met his mother nor knew what she looked like. dragan has expressed his frustration towards his older brother may of times they would meet but it was always met with the same sob story that he began to grow tired of. now he was face to face with the male once again and he was acting the same as he’s before since his mother died. 

“ why do you think you’re here, alucard? ” he retorted back, not exactly liking the question that was being asked to him. “ your whore can wait, we need to talk about this act that you’re pulling. it needs to stop, the position i am in is where you’re suppose to be at. nice that you’re living your life, but family is important too. everyone of us is pulling our weight and yours and it’s unfair. i understand that you’re sad or whatever but you have to get over it. it’s been years since she’s been gone. ”

when making visits to night blood’s territories, dragan would traverse alone and secured just incase anything would happen to go down. his life was always in the line of danger, even before taking his father’s position within the gang. being the youngest of the jeup clan, no one would have ever thought that he would take hold of the highest position there was to offer, and yet here he was with an entire syndicate in his hands. now, he makes his run to one of the clubs ; cache. better known for being a strip club, as most pile up to see the entertainment and others navigate towards back rooms for a night of pleasure -- the pricey club never sleeps until the doors close when business ends. 

he walks through the doors, a special guest walks with him, someone he cares for dearly. his underboss is someone he trusts most, holding dearly to him. if anything were to happen to dragan, she would be next in line. history, as a woman becomes a leader of a well-known and feared gang such as night bloods hold in reputation. he wonders if anyone would be able to handle such. his sister, and oldest of the siblings was someone whom didn’t find herself fit for an responsible position such as this one, but he insisted on having his older sibling close as possible. her safety was more important than his own. after all, she was a pureblood unlike him who was mixed. too keep the bloodline going, he was sure that his two older siblings were more important than his own life, therefore, he put himself as a prominent target rather than the other two -- cousins included. he felt such a heavy burden but it was a price to pay when he came upon agreeing to wear the crown. 

he gaze moves towards his older sister, and from the looks of her expression it’s not a pleased one. there’s a cant of his head, resting upon his hand as his elbow is used for support against the table. “ why the sullen look, sypha? are you not enjoying the visit? ” he asked. if the older wasn’t having a good time, then something had to change about within the club. whether it be removing someone from the employment list completely or finding something else that could possibly entertain her in some way to make this visit more promising. a bad visit from the high ups wasn’t a good look for business. the last thing one would want to do was upset a jeup. 

“ is it someone here that i need to get rid of? ” he asked, wanting her honest opinion on the matter.
