Yule Ball Attire
marinaelgato:
Marina shook her head, looking at her friend with wide, concerned eyes. She knew Sandy could do most potions in her sleep but it was unlike her to be so reckless with her ingredients. Everything going on mustâve been weighing on her hard. âItâs okay. Sometimes stuff gets ruined. Itâs no big deal,â she tried to reassure, rubbing her hand up and down Sandyâs back as she spoke, trying to comfort her friend however she could. Sandyâs breathing was hitching like she was trying to hold something back so Marina tightened her grip instinctively. She couldnât do anything for Tahatan or Ines but she could do her damnedest for everyone she still had to protect. Marina shook her head and pulled back, meeting Sandyâs eyes and feeling determined and angry and protective. âWeâre not going to. We need to make sure people arenât alone. That we stick together. We can protect each other if we play this smart. Believe me, I worry about all of us every day but we need to channel that fear into something productive. It sounds juvenile but even a buddy system could do us wonders.â
Sandy truly appreciated Marinaâs efforts to make her feel better about something that perhaps hadnât outright been her fault. However... it was nothing short of worrisome, knowing her abilities were lacking so much out of fear and worry. âIs it really okay though? I donât know how Iâm supposed to stay concentrated on everything when I canât even concentrate on an insignificant potion.â She spoke, her voice breaking a little when she felt her friendsâ grip tightening around her. âWould that ensure our safety? Sticking together?â She asked, willing to hear her out on the buddy system she suggested. She licked her lips, suddenly feeling them very dry; her eyes were already too bright, as she was on the verge of tears but she couldnât let herself fall over that edge. âWe should make sure we can group quickly on the 20th for the lockdown, so no one gets left behind.â
zaneakingbade:
Zane smirked as the hedge made her turn around. That trick hasnât failed him yet. âI never said it would make sense,â he took a couple of steps closer before holding the flowers out to her, not wanting to overstep into her personal space. They werenât there yet. âItâs just we do it differently where I am from. Especially with my father being who he is. Heâd sooner drop dead than find out I didnât give you the royal treatment especially for an event like the Ball.âÂ
For now, she just stared at the flowers, both hands behind her back as if deciding whether or not to accept the gift. âIf I hear any more testosterone coming from that mouth I ought to make it stop. Iâd advice you to choose wisely how you want me to do so.â Wow. She didnât really know why she was so surprised. This was her normal demeanor, the way she acted and behaved around people. Problems only ever came when she was all alone. Too vulnerable to even put her confidence on. âSounds like at least the Ball is a big deal for you, huh? You have to at least admit you wouldnât be asking me now if I hadnât asked you first, so either way, it was my move that counted.â
zaneakingbade:
âI said thatâs not how this works. I didnât say no I wouldnât go with you! Plus, you never told me why you decided to ask me.â he called out after her as she walked away. Zane put his hands together and signed for a hedge to block her way. A little wandless magic was bound to make her forgive him. He summoned a bouquet of flowers and transformed his robes into a nice blazer. âAhem, mâlady, would you like to accompany me to the dance so we can continue this conversation in a more proper setting?âÂ
âThatâs not how what works?â She asked, turning a little but not quite stopping her walking. âI donât have a date and your charming speech about your needs was enough for me to know you donât either.â Sandy clarified, shrugging and waving, about to get away when the hedge blocked her path, so she stopped. Turning again, she was about to point out that it was no problem and she wasnât offended in any way that he seemingly rejected her but instead found him there, with flowers, asking her to come with him. â... this doesnât make any sense, I hope you know.â
zaneakingbade:
Zane was used to girls wanting to sleep with him. Zane was used to girls flirting with him to get into his bed. Zane was not used to girls asking him out. His father was rather traditional in the sense that men did the asking. It was his job to sweep the stranger in front of him off her feet not hers. In fact his first job was to pick up his jaw from the floor and think of a proper response. âFirst of all, if itâs evil why are you asking me to the ball? Second, no thatâs not how this works.âÂ
âItâs evil to seek a target among people for whom tragedy is a pressing issue. Itâs very clearly not a pressing issue for you.â Most, if not all of Sandyâs relationships and dates had ended up happening because she was the one doing the asking, so, doing this right now was really not something she fuzzed over all too much, the way she was raised was to thank for that; Lottie, Teddy, and Sandy herself needed to be confident enough about the relationships they wanted to form. Asking a guy out was the easiest of feats. However, when he said no, she shrugged. âAlright. Well, thanks anyway.â She turned, already beginning to walk away.
zaneakingbade:
Open.Â
âIt feels almost evil to try and talk to girls at a time like this but a guyâs got needs. I doubt everyoneâs been able to suppress theirs,â he grumbled as he looked out into the courtyard. Most people were huddled in groups in fear of being snatched if they were alone. Though he was worried about his friendsâ well being and his own, he wasnât going to let the Praesumptor ruin his livelihood. Letting them suck the joy out of living is the easiest way to let them win. Â
Things were still all kinds of fucked for Sandy at least. As much as she had tried to heed Marinaâs advice, she couldnât, for the life of her, have a moment of peace, not even among groups anymore. Still... the perspective of the ball soon just around the corner made her feel hopeful enough, as dumb as that probably seemed. Sandy wasnât really sure sheâd find someone to come with her. Being entirely honest she hadnât been as social as she had hoped when Ilvermorny first arrived at Hogwarts, so she didnât blame anyone for not being all too familiar with her just yet. So, when she walked past someone talking about his needs she felt two things; disgust at his lack of apathy... and an opportunity.
So, she turned on her heels and quickly made her way back in front of him. âFirst of all: Yes. Itâs evil. Second of all: Do you want to come to the ball with me?â
        marinaelgato:
âIâm glad itâs not worse than it is then. What were you brewing?â She asked, swinging her legs back and forth slightly as she sat on the desk. She sensed that Sandy was more upset than she was letting on but she didnât know how to approach the subject. She herself hated having people poking around in her feelings. She didnât want to do the same to her friend.Â
âI donât understand what they want then. They donât want a ransom butâŠif they were just killing them outright we would have more bodies. Theyâre not serial killers. So what are they doing?â Marina had been trying to figure out a pattern too, trying to find out as much as she could about each individual kidnapping and the as much as she could about the students that had been taken but nothing seemed to add up right. âYour siblings are going to be fine. ListenâŠthisâŠ.there has to be a natural endpoint to this. Itâs going to stop eventually and you and I both need to hold out for that moment. Weâll drive ourselves crazy if we keep thinking about whoâs going to vanish next, itâs too big of an unknown to deal with.â She sighed, sliding off the desk and coming over to Sandy again, wrapping her arm around her and leaning her head against her shoulder, not saying much else. What could she possibly say to make anything feel better? Sandy was right in a way. Anyone could be next.
âSee, I...â She thought about it, standing still momentarily, eyes widening as she realized, she didnât even know what she was trying to do. She knew so many recipes that by now? She could do most of them without even checking on the preparation. She looked over the table, though Marina had already cleaned everything up, then her eyes shifted to her friend. âI-I donât know. I suppose I wouldâve known if I had finished it... if I hadnât ruined it.â She explained, annoyed with herself at the fact that, despite being so talented with potions, the games her mind was playing her were distracting enough to not pay attention to anything but the frightened thump inside her chest at every little sound. She remained silent for now, listening intently to everything Marina had to say. She was right, there was not much else to do but wait for everything to end. At least, that was the only thing to do right now. She didnât put any resistance when Marina wrapped her arm around her, instead, going in for a full hug, letting out a sigh that almost sounded as though she was trying her damnedest hard not to cry. Her hurt hand remained pulled away from her friendâs back, but her arm exerted just enough strength. âWe canât just sit around, Marina. There has to be more we can do than just sit and wait, and I feel so useless! I think of Alba, of Lilo, of Ollie, of you and I... If something happened to any of you I would never forgive myself either.â
marinaelgato:
Marina hummed softly under her breath, pausing to pull a hair tie out of her pocket so that she could pull her long locks out of her face, before crossing over to gently take Sandyâs hand in hers, examining it carefully. âItâs not the best youâve come up with, Iâll give you that,â she said, smiling wryly. She pulled out her wand and tapped on Sandyâs hand. âEpiskey.â The burns healed slightly, but still looked pretty bad. She sighed. âThis is the best I can do, Iâm afraid. Youâre probably going to need burn-healing paste. Should hurt less though.â
She crossed over so she could sit on a desk facing her friend and shrugged, looking down at her feet. âI donât know. None of this makes sense. If these - these kidnappers - told us what they wanted, we could give it to them, but â they just keep taking people! I donât understand what any of us are supposed to do but wait and hope. It feels wretched.â She shook her head. âI hate feeling this powerless. Those are our friends.â Marina hugged herself as she spoke, feeling cold all of a sudden. Everything going on was weighing on her, but it was reassuring to know she wasnât the only one being so affected. âSandyâŠyou really hurt yourself today. You need to be more careful, even with everything happening. I need you to take care of yourself.â
Sandy almost felt like ripping her hand from Marinaâs hold, if only because she detested feeling like this; vulnerable and useless, but really, Marina was just doing what she did best when it came to her; worry, try to make things better, however she could. She bit her tongue and let her friend take her hand in hers. âIâm managing, I suppose.â The small charm did help a little with the pain but she wasnât safe from having the visit the infirmary just yet. Sheâd have to go there eventually for burn paste and perhaps a bandage, though it could be worse. At least it wasnât her main hand. âItâs fine, Marina. Thank you... Iâm so out of it maybe I wouldâve just ended up making it worse.â
âI donât think they want anything we can give them. If that was the case they wouldâve made the demands as soon as they kidnapped the first one. I-I havenât been able to make out a pattern out of the kids that have been taken. It just doesnât make any sense.â Either that or she was too dumb to comprehend it. Marinaâs worrisome scolding did nothing but make her feel worse about the burn in her hand, but she deserved it. Scared as she was, Sandy had been everything but cautious about her surroundings. âI know... I know, Marina but Lottie and Teddy are still at risk and I donât want to think of anything ever happening to them. If theyâre taken as well Iâm going to go insane. I think Iâm already going down that path.â She declared, running her fingers through her hair and hunching over her table once more in a closed off posture.
marinaelgato:
Marina hadnât been able to help it. A sick, morbid sense of curiosity had made her go look at the girl after sheâd been identified, after they knew for certain she was one of this missing. Sheâd looked horrid. Marina couldnât understand how anyone had possibly identified her butâŠshe was happy they weight of wondering was now off of everyone elseâs shoulders. She felt bad for feeling overwhelmingly relieved it wasnât Ines or Tahatan lying in her place. Those were her classmates, and her responsibility as head student. The fact that she could do nothing to held them made her feel helpless in a way she despised. What good was all the magic in the world if she couldnât save the people around her?
She stopped short when she heard a very familiar voice shout. Sandy. She turned abruptly and head back down the hall, looking into every classroom she passed until she found her friend sitting alone in an empty potions classroom, her latest concoction spilled all over the floor around her, still bubbling. âSandy?â
She stepped inside, shutting the door behind the two of them. No need for more prying eyes to see Sandra feeling vulnerable. âHoney, what happened? Are you okay?â She pulled out her wand and vanished the spilled mixture around them as she approached her friend, eyes wide with concern. âOh no, youâre hurt!â
Shit, shit, shit! She thought to herself as soon as she heard Marinaâs voice behind her. Sandy stood a little hunched over the spot where her cauldron had been mere seconds before, one hand firmly planted on the table, the other one supporting just the heel of her hand to avoid further hurting herself. Her eyes drifted to the burn and immediately realized how much she had fucked up this time around. âIâm fine.â She lied, not turning to look at her friend just yet and not wanting to until she felt she had the reins of her mind in place.Â
Sandy was about to hide her hand, but it was too late for that as Marina pointed it out. She swallowed, looking at her red knuckles and raising her hand closer to her eyes. It was a bad burn too, but she hadnât felt the actual graveness of it until she saw it. âI raised my hand to throw something in, hit the cauldron and the whole thing just overflowed, tsk...â Her explanation was half-assed at best, but it was the best she could think of in such short time. âIs that... is that even believable?â She sighed in frustration, just like before, her entire body shaking as she was keeping it all in, concealing it. âMar, I just... What the fuck is happening here?â
It had taken Sandra way too long to realize things werenât just horrid, but that they were getting worse and worse every single day. Yet, people seem all too uncaring, deeming a stupid game all that much more important than everyoneâs safety. How, in Godâs name, could everyone be so focused on something that ultimately was nothing but an excuse to keep everyone in one place, âsafe and soundâ?Â
Matter of fact was, that it truly didnât matter how many times she thought about it, none of it made sense and all that was left for her to do was simply do as the rest and pretend nothing was wrong, and that had led her to prepare a potion; a simple, easy one she needed to take in for an assignment. Was she managing? No. Was she her regular good at it? Also no. Soon enough the concoction began bubbling up and before she could do anything it was oozing out of t he cauldron. Her best solution? Push the cauldron off the edge of her work station despite it being extremely hot and her wearing no protection on her hands.Â
âFUCK THIS!â She yelled out loud, stomping her feet before she gave up on her current attempt at work, dropping her weight on the chair behind her. She pressed her hands to her eyes, trying to calm herself, but only hurting as her hand was burnt; something sheâd have to check on on top of everything at that.

muksungki:
Sungki balanced an elbow on one of his knees, checking both ears and his nose for any traces of blood. Sometimes he would bleed after prophecies. This happened to be a rare lucky time when that wasnât the case. He looked up at the girl, squinting a bit. âI was passed out. Iâm a seer. I black out sometimes. Make prophecies.â He said casually. âIâm good.â He grunted pushing himself of the ground, âMuk Sungki. Imperial Academy.â He held out a hand.
âSeer?â She asked, even tilting her head to the side, though shaking it soon after. âSorry there. I mean, I know what seers are, of course, Iâd just never met one before.â She laughed in an apologetic manner, looking down at his hand before shaking it. âSandra Dee. Or Sandy, for my friends. From Ilvermorny.â She added. âAre you sure youâre alright, though? I really donât mind taking you to the infirmary if you hit yourself hard. Do the prophecies happen all that often? I canât imagine what itâd be like just... â She made a gesture with her hands implying passing out and hitting the ground hard.Â
xcnderwolfe:
â hva? â he mutters before looking at said object. with wide eyes, he patted his pockets. â faen! yeah, thatâs mine. i donât know how i even MANAGED to drop it, â he states, reaching his hand out for the pouch.
First thing to come to mind about him was that he wasnât british, and he also obviously wasnât from Ilvermorny, his foreign words made that much clear. Curiosity rose as she examined his face, but it all vanished when he reached for the pouch. Sandy, of course, pulled the pouch back, away from his hand. âHow am I sure itâs really yours?â She asked. âWhatâs in it?â
anastasiakarkaroff:
âI am so glad that I found you!â Anastasia exclaimed as she approached the person standing in front of her, a wide smile plastered across her face. âI have been wandering out this wing for what feels like hours!â she explained, she was exaggerating- but she didnât care- she was finally glad to find another living being. This part of the castle was rather- gross, and she wanted to leave. âCan you please tell me how to find the library?â she asked them, her eyes widening as she waited for an answer.Â
As if her nerves werenât fragile enough already, someone felt the need to startle her as she made her way through one of the worst lit corridors of the castle. She faked a small cough if only to not let the other know she was particularly jumpy as of late. âYeah, sure, uh...â She cleared her throat. âBut I think youâre better off if I take you there? If I give you instructions youâre probably gonna end up lost again. Not doubting you, or anything! But... the place is a maze.â
âIt all comes down to sticking together, they said. Do as we tell you and youâll be safe, they said.â Sandy whispered to herself as she went on finishing her breakfast. She had honestly been taking her time with it, but there was no point lounging there for much longer, was it? It would still be a while before everyone had to go, coming to think of it. So for now sheâd just wait it out. Putting her feet down after sitting with her legs crossed for a while, she stepped on something, something she quickly bent down to recover; a red little pouch, for... something. She didnât open it, and merely looked around. âHey, is this yours?â She asked, to the person to her left.
muksungki:
Sungkiâs eyes opened with a snap, his ears ringing. This was not unfamiliar to him, one moment walking and the next on his back. He had seen something, perhaps spoken aloud, he wasnât sure, he never was. He had been having this vision over and over since stepping foot on the Hogwarts grounds, but it was never clear enough for him to make heads or tails of it. Someone was hanging over him, obstructing his view of the morning sky. âIâm fine.â He said before they could speak, sitting up. âIt happens. Do you know how long I was down?â
âAre you sure?â She asked, stepping back. He seemed okay enough but she couldnât help but wonder. With his next question, she doubted a little, shaking her head. âIâm not sure. I was just walking out and I saw you... passed out? Were you passed out?â Sandy asked, raising her eyebrows as it was evident, even to her, that asking such a thing probably came out weird. Not having much time to dwell on it, she simply shrugged it off. âDo you need my help to get up? I kinda donât wanna leave you here like that.âÂ
