summary: You get a random invite to a cabin in the woods, a little get-together organized by Sharky (your late-childhood-crush-mini-fling guy as you like to call him). It’s been 4 years since you last saw him and the guys, who are now known as “The Betasquad”. (I wonder what’s waiting)
warnings: idk swearing(?)
”God this place is eerie.” You say to yourself as you walked down a dimly lit path. Not really walked, more like dragged yourself and your suitcase through the snow.
“Yeah, great idea,” you were talking to yourself “Let’s invite y/n and make her suffer in this fucking cold forest.” You mocked yourself “Maybe she’ll freeze to death if something doesn’t eat her first.”
It’s been four years since you last saw this loser crew. The last time you did you were in college.
You wondered what everyone looked like. Obviously you saw them through social media, YouTube and what-not, but honestly you ignored it all. You didn’t like the way you felt left out every time you saw a group photo.
It was petty and you knew it.
But to be fair no one reached out to you. Not once.
Even though you didn’t either. And you were the one who left.
Until one afternoon you got a text message.
He invited you for a get-together in the mountains. He didn’t really elaborate but very clearly indicated that he would love for you to be there.
Now, more than ever, you were asking yourself why you agreed. Even though the answer was pretty obvious.
Your late-childhood-crush-mini-fling guy asked you to come over for a weekend. What else could you have said?
Your tense romance with him broke off like nothing when you left. It wasn’t a big tragedy for you but your interest in him never fully left.
You stomped in annoyance, following the lights, until you finally made it to a gate.
Your face lit up. Guess who was waiting for you.
Suddenly you felt like that little girl you used to be. A little girl that missed her friends that she used to hang out with almost everyday after school.
Without contemplating for another second, you let those feelings, memories and emotions wash over you.
“Sharky!” You saw him standing there, under the dim light of the warm toned lamp, he was kicking the snow, deep in thought with his hands in his pockets.
“y/n?!” It sounded more like a surprised exclamation than a question.
You dropped your suitcases before practically jumping into his arms. He laughed hugging you tightly, holding you close to his chest. Suddenly you felt the two of you tipping, he must’ve lost his balance because the next second you two were laughing on the ground.
“Did I grow that much?” You laughed from on top of him.
“Just a little.” He smiles from underneath you.
It was an unusual position to be in considering everything, but not once did he mention a girlfriend, which meant anything and everything was possible this weekend.
You lay on top of him, hugging him tightly “Shit it’s actually so good to see you, you have no idea.”
Few minutes later you were on your way to the cabin. Apparently there was more walking to do. Being the gentleman he was Sharky carried your bag (finally) while listening to you blabber on about your new life and what you were doing.
“Sounds amazing.” He nodded, not taking his eyes off your excited face.
“And then there’s Rody, oh my god you would love him, he’s always late to work with the funniest excuse. It’s like he never left school.”
He chuckled nodding encouragingly.
Couple more minutes and you made it to your destination. You walked inside.
“Wow,” you said in amazement “This place is crazy…crazy scary.”
“Hey cmon it’s like a vintage vibe. You’ve no idea how expensive it is.”
“I sure don’t. I work a normal job.”
“Oh don’t be like that. You know damn well we wanted you and your other friend with us.” His tone shifted.
Part of the reason you didn’t talk for four years was because while the boys pursued their YouTube career you pursued a normal one. Stupid argument, but you and your friend Carm (the one that Sharky was talking about) moved in together after getting into the same college. Leaving the guys behind pretty much without any regret. You and Carm did end up having a big fight which made you leave, but none of the boys knew that.
“Oh that’s nice.” You reply with sarcasm and sit down in front of the fireplace “I’m freezing.”
He came back with a fuzzy blanket, throwing it over you and then joining you at the couch.
“It’s fine.” You shake your head.
You sigh in relief, it was actually amazing to have everyone getting back. You finally get to see and hear how everyone’s life was going.
“How you been holding up?” You looked up at him. He glanced down, you didn’t know it but he was holding his breathe looking into your eyes.
“I’m fine. Happy you’re here…a-and you know everyone.” He got nervous. It was sweet.
You grinned, feeling the slight tension and leaned onto his shoulder “I’m so happy to see you, Sharky. I really really missed you.”
Flirting had never been such a relief.
Even if he didn’t care (which he definitely did) you enjoyed every second of his presence without any embarrassment. In all honestly he looked even better than how you last remember him.
Obviously Sharky wasn’t dumb either. In fact, he was so smart that he understood your hints in an instant.
(First man to ever do such a thing)
His issue was his straightforwardness…
Under the blanket his hand slid to grab yours, your fingers intertwined.
You looked up at him “I-“
You were cut off by his lips on yours. Your breathe hitched as he kissed you.
So fast that you didn’t even know how to react. You just sat there in shock.
He felt your stiffness and quickly withdrew from the kiss.
“I-I’m sorry.” He whispered “I-I-“
He didn’t have time to finish, a loud bang on the door caught the two of you off guard. Without any words he got up to greet the next arrivals.
You sat there for five seconds, gathering your thoughts and processing what just happened. You smiled to yourself. Well what the hell got into him.
“Lisa!” A familiar squeal rang through the house. You got up instantly and rushed over to the already running AJ.
“I missed you too!” You screwed your eyes with joy.
Wasn’t it nice how everyone ignored the fact that no one talked to you in four years?
“I have so much to tell you!” He says.
“Yeah, well makes two us.”
“y/n,” Niko smirked “Where my hug at?” He joked, spreading his arms out. You giggle and greeted him too. Same old lanky flirt.
“Jeez you grew,” you said. “Even more…”
“Could say the same about you. Looking as good as ever.”
“Is this everyone for now?” AJ asked, looking around the house.
“Damn that path was scary as hell.” Niko said. You agreed.
“So what do you guys wanna do?” AJ twirled around, admiring the cabin.
“House tour?” Sharky suggested.
After a quick house tour the rest of the gang got together. Kenny pulled up with a complaining Chunkz. Some things really don’t change.
All of you sat around the fire place chatting about the good old days when all of you were young (even though you still were).
Couple hours later everyone kind of went to do their own thing, Chunkz and Kenny went to admire the stars, AJ went out for a stroll while Niko had a nap on one of the rocking chairs beside the fireplace.
You and Sharly were left together with the quietly snoring Niko.
“Hey, listen,” you began.
“No-no-no, I’m sorry, let’s just forget that ever happened, I got the wrong idea.” He stood up, raising his hands in defense. In attempt to not have this conversation he headed towards the stairs.
You rolled your eyes dramatically “Sharky!” You whispered loudly.
You followed him, he kept walking and walking until there was nowhere to walk. The two of you found yourselves at the upstairs balcony.
“Sharky.” You knitted your eyebrows. He was leaning on the pillars with his elbows, looking down at the snowy ground and old lamps.
You sighed, copying his pose.
Did he really regret that?
“I thought maybe…” he began “Never mind.” He rubbed his bare hands together.
Oh how hard you had to hide the biggest grin from your face. You lived for moments like these. The unspoken feelings. The heavy hearts. The peaceful silences.
And the starry knight and gloomy forest just made the atmosphere so much more romantic.
You moved closer to him, which very much startled him, in a good way, but he didn’t show it.
“You just surprised me.” You admitted.
“I know. I’m sorry and it won’t happen again, let’s just leave things how they were before. Please.” He turned to look at you with his puppy dog eyes “We’re so close and I don’t want things to be awkward between us, y/n. Just…forget what happened.”
“I mean we were…not to be negative or anything but four years…” you trailed off without finishing your sentence.
You noticed his trembling hands, nervousness mixed with the cold. Or maybe just the cold, but let’s let you romanticize this moment.
You move even closer to him, taking his bare hands into your gloved ones.
You slowly rubbed his cold fingers, still feeling the slight shaking.
“I missed you, Sharky.” You simply say “I really really missed you.” You let go of his hands to hug his arm, pressing it against your cheek.
He smiled, turning you around and embracing you into a proper hug.
“I did too. I know I was quiet. I know it was wrong of me. I just felt embarrassed for some reason.” He gave you a small squeeze.
You losen your grasp and look up at him, he looked down in response. You were so close, faces centimeters apart, all it took was one small step.
Was this all moving too fast? Yes. Did any of you care? Absolutely not.
You stood up on your tippy toes, connecting your lips to his. Sharky’s heart fluttered inside him, excitement filling him up in seconds.
Oh you made him feel like a teenager.
Your tongues gently swiped against each others lips, you were both being extra careful for some reason, as if not wanting to scare each other off.
The moment was so peaceful, so beautiful, until suddenly you heard a thumping sound and a piece of something wet hit your face.
You two instantly pulled away.
“What the fuck!?” He exclaimed, brushing of what looked like a snowball.
“HA HA!” You heard a loud laugh and then a series of laughs.
“Hey you lovebirds! What a reunion huh?”
Chunks sneered playfully while Kenny struggled to hide her laughter out of courtesy.
“Guys! You ruined my moment!” Sharky threw his arms up “Fuck you! I waited so long for this.”
“Hey Sharks,” Chunkz giggled “You know you didn’t have to call all of us if you just wanted-” He was cut off by Kenny’s elbow poking him in the ribs “Ow.”
“We’re sorry, we’ll leave you two alone!” Kenny waved, pulling Chunkz by his jacket somewhere behind the corner of the house. Sharky turned to you and shrugged.
“Oh stop it.” He playfully rolled his eyes.
“What no luck with other women? Decided to call up an old one?”
“You know for a fact we didn’t finish what we started. Don’t act like you didn’t just kiss me yourself.”
“Right, right, let’s go inside before we freeze.” You pull him after you.
