sometimes i think about the weight of the grief that must rest on yelena's chest every night, when she can't stop thinking about what she's lost or what was robbed from her. and she tries not to think about how unfair it all is because that's life, especially her life; life's not for fairness, it's for grief and suffering and survival.

and then, slowly, surely, she meets people -- she does things -- she matters -- and maybe there's more to life. maybe there really is.

“Oh yeah, all the time.” she admitted as she slowly moved to sit beside Yelena, her gaze turning toward the sky. “It’s an interesting thing to think about, isn’t it?”

A little scary, actually. Space was so big and vast... it was terrifying to think about everything that could be out there. How many bad things could still come from up there. But Scarlett didn’t want to admit that just yet. Instead, she chose to focus on the good.

“Do you think that somewhere else in the galaxy, there’s someone like us, staring at the stars and asking themselves the same question? Maybe some small, tiny aliens.”

"Wouldn't that be something." The words came out dry, less of a question and more of a statement. The positivity that radiated off of the other woman wasn't missed by Yelena, but given that she wanted to sit and be as sour as her beer, she remained still, brows furrowed. "So far, every alien humanity has encountered has wanted to kill us. One big purple bastard succeeded."
