LIKE the concept of the avatar itself is based off of lord vishnu’s ten avatars (reincarnations into different forms to come save the world in times of disaster) from hinduism! but you know i guess south asians are too ugly to be included in the avatarverse unless its for comedy relief and being a plot device for other characters (guru pathik) or to show off dark skinned characters as evil in an asian fantasy world (like the sandbenders being seen as antagonists, which is also really thinly veiled islamophobia)
