Baklava
Baklava is a Turkish dessert which is layered and crunchy. It is generally considered difficult to prepare but is easy to prepare. I generally use phyllo dough for the preparation. Ingredients Servings: 28 Walnut - 230 gms Pistachios - 300 gms Granulated Sugar - 1/4 cup Cinnamon Powder - 1 tsp Unsalted Butter - 2 sticks Frozen Phyllo Sheets - 1 pack Syrup: Sugar - 3/4 cup Water - 3/4 cup Honey - 3/4 cup Preparation Preheat the oven to 176°C. Measure out 230 gms of walnut and 230 gms of pistachios using a kitchen scale and place in the bowl of a food processor. Add the sugar and cinnamon. Pulse a few times to break-up the nuts, but do not chop them to a fine powder. Place the two sticks of butter into a saucepan and melt under low heat. Keep an eye on things and turn off the burner when the sticks are nearly melted. Clear a large surface, place the bowl of nut filling, baking pan, melted butter and the pastry brush. Unwrap the phyllo sheets and carefully unroll onto the large surface, keeping the large sheet of plastic used to roll the sheet underneath. Dampen the tea towel and lay it over the phyllo If the phyllo dough is too big for your baking pan, trim the phyllo sheets to match the dimensions of the pan. Using the pastry brush, brush on a thin layer of butter all over the bottom of the baking pan Fold back the tea towel, carefully remove one sheet of phyllo dough, and place it on the bottom of the pan.
