Hazbin Hotel- Velvette x Odette- Guess I don’t have a choice, all because I liked a girl.
Ring!!! Ring!!!! Uugghh, why did her phone have to go off now, of all times? She knew she should have turned it off before she left this morning, but no, her mother would have murdered her if she had. Now the only question was, who was calling her at the moment, her mother or Clara?
… her mother, great, a step up from Clara at least. Clara had been interesting, psychotic, lately. There really wasn’t a more appropriate term to describe Clara’s recent behavior. After all, no sane person would be following her around with cameras and trying to steal her phone 24 7. A sane person would also not send threatening texts from random numbers. Why was she sure, though, that Clara had been sending the texts? Because Clara kept making the mistake of sending them while still right beside Odette. You would think that for someone who was trained to be a weapon, you would be more aware of your surroundings.
Ring!!! Crap, she almost forgot about that! Infusing as much pep into her voice as she could manage, Odette answered the phone, saying, “Hi Mom,”
“Hi!?! Hi?!! Odette, I’ve been calling for over 5 minutes, and you didn’t pick up!!”
“Sorry!?! Come home NOW, mija!!”
"But!?! BUT!?!?! Home, NOW!!!"
Great, she was definitely going to be grounded for a month, which was not going to work with her future plans. Her most pressing goal, to actually go on a full date with Velvette. Should she ask Velvette out, or should she wait? Would it seem too desperate to make the first move? God, she’s so pathetic, she really just needs to- BAM!!
“Oww … I am so sorry…” Looking up, Odette met the exhausted eyes of her mother’s “…mom?? What’s wrong???”
“Clara! Is she ok? What’s wrong? What do we–”
“Mija, calm down, she's okay, she’s just worrying me.”
“She's having another one of her moods. She refuses to leave her room. She refuses to talk to me. And she's refusing even to text this time. Could you please just try to get her out of her room, Odette?”
“… can't we just leave her this time?"
"I'm sorry!! … I'll get her out."
“Ugggghhhh leave me alone!!!!!”
“Clara, open up, you’re worrying mom.”
“Look, I know you're having another one of your moods right now, but–”
“Just leave me ALONE, Odette!!!!”
“Mom's going to be pissed at me if you don't leave your room. Can't we just talk out whatever's bothering you?”
“I’m not talking to you!!”
"Clara, open this door!!!
Great, just what she wanted today. Deal with another one of her sister’s temper tantrums instead of going on an actual date with Velvette. She was half tempted to just go back to her room and deal with her mother’s wrath until she heard her phone buzz. Picking up her phone, Odette was greeted with yet another text saying You’re a fucking traitor.
That was it. She was done being nice. She was going to get Clara to stop texting her threats one way or another. “Clara, you'd better open this door by the count of three or else.”
“One.” Picking up her phone, Odette texted back, “fuck you, Clara” before starting to make her way over to the weapon rack on the other side of the room, before saying, “TWO.”
She felt her phone buzz in her pocket, but at this point, she didn’t give a crap about whatever response Clara gave. She was pissed. And she was going to open Clara’s door if it was the last thing she did. So, she did what any other normal sinner would do: she grabbed an ax off the weapons rack. Then, just like her mother taught her, she took a breath in, aimed, and finally released on the count of “THREE!”
Bam!!! The door slammed open, ax still attached, with Clara finally facing Odette, fuming, “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ODETTE!!!!!”
“You wouldn’t open your door.”
“I’m sorry, but why the fuck does that give you the right to throw a FUCKING AX through my door!!!”
“Well, I’m sorry, BUT when someone keeps texting you that you’re a fucking TRAITOR from different numbers, then you have every right to throw an ax through their door so they’ll actually fucking speak to you!!!”
“Excuse me, how dare you accuse me of that!!! I never fucking did that!!!”
“You’ve literally texted me while right beside me!!!!”
“… look, I’m sorry, BUT when someone acts like a traitor, you fucking call them out on being a traitor!!!”
“Excuse me, but how fuck am I a traitor?!?!!”
“Huh, I don’t know? Oh right, I remember now, maybe because you’re literally sleeping with the enemy!!!”
“I haven’t even fucking slept with her yet!!!!” Shit. She should not have said that. She was doing so well at not slipping up lately. She hadn’t responded to all of Clara’s threats, she hadn’t let Clara steal her phone, and she had been so good at gaslighting Clara every time she brought something up. But of course, she just had to slip up over one stupid comment. Fuck, what would Clara do now? God, her mind was already in panic mode. What was Clara's next move??? Looking over at the girl in question, Odette saw Clara hunched over, body shaking. Running over Odette, quickly tried to grab Clara to make sure she was ok, only to have her hand slapped away. What, “… Clara?”’
Looking into Clara’s tear-streaked eyes, the first thing Odette noticed was the ice radiating off of them, “Don’t fucking touch me, Odette.”
“-sAJKhHahahah. Sorry, you’re sorry??? For what??? For gaslighting me into thinking I was crazy?!? I ALWAYS knew I wasn’t fucking crazy! I knew I saw you two together!!”
“Look, I didn’t want to lie to you. I just knew how you’d react.”
“What!?!? Like how any normal person would react. She’s worse than fucking Satan!!!”
“How dare I what, SAY THE TRUTH!!! Everyone else can see her for the demon she is, you’re the only one blind enough not see it.”
“Face it, Odette, you’re her little simp. If I hadn’t known you better, I would have thought she slipped one of her little potions to you.”
“Ye!!! She would never hurt me like that!!”
“Bhaha, really, just you wait, sooner or later, Velvette’s going to get tired of using you, and throw you out like trash.”
"I'm sorry, but is it that hard for you to believe!!?!”
“Bhahah, -sAJKhHahahah, stop it, Odette, you’re killing me. Look me in the eyes, and tell me she’s not using you.”
Looking up, Odette met Clara’s eyes with an intense bravery she didn’t even know she possessed before today. “She’s not using me!!” After her statement, though, Clara only looked at her with eyes filled with pity and ice, “Odette, I’m saying this as someone who loves you, but do you really think she actually likes you?”
“What,” Odette said, tears starting to slowly gather in her eyes, “Is it truly that hard to believe that she would like me?”
“Odette, I love you, but look in the mirror. Why would she choose you of all people when she could have literally anyone else in all of hell?”
“God, you’re pathetic, Odette.”
"I'm sorry, you think she'd choose you, -bhahahah, hahaha!!"
Finally, she had hopefully finally knocked some sense into her naive little sister. It was harsh, but she needed to hear it. Finally, though, finally she had gotten through to her.
Huh, looking up, the first thing Clara noticed was the tears falling from Odette’s eyes. She tried to reach over to soothe her sister, but Odette only finched away, looking up at her with quivering red eyes, full of tears.
“Look, I know that was harsh, but you needed to hear it.” Clara then tried to reach over again, but Odette again pushed her hand away with a shaky slap, “… sh.u..t .. up..” she said in between tears. “.a..nd .. d.o.. … no.t fucking .. touch me..”
“Look, I’m sorry,” Clara said, reaching over one last time, only to have Odette’s entire body escape her grasp, as Odette got up, and started to walk away, sobbing, saying “j.u..s.t. .. l..e.a.ve.. .. me.. .a..lo..ne”.
She couldn’t bring herself to leave her doorway for several more minutes. She was racked with guilt over hurting her sister. Then she felt angry. Intensely angry. How the hell was her sister still defending Velvette???? This had to end. She was going to expose Velvette as the lying, manipulative demon she was if it was the last thing she ever did.
