You know something is pathetic when

its subreddit loses 3k engagement in a week although it's just on air not long ago and the entire fandom is carried on by just one terrible drawing kid who posts the same fanart everywhere to seek attention.

Come to think both Spardacest and danlady are on the same level of GROSS

Spardacest: You have to amplify their brotherhood and rivalry into romantic love, push their existing emotional intensity to an extreme for it to read as romance.

Danlady: You have to break Dante's character much more severely. Canon Dante doesn't give a fuck about lady, afraid of emotional commitment, and avoids serious responsibility. To make the romance work , u have to do the same things as with Spardacest:

- Make Dante far more miserable (depressed, lonely, emotionally broken, and in need of someone to take care of him).

- Tear apart Dante's carefree slacker, commitment-averse personality so he'll have enough motivation to pursue someone like Lady, who constantly puts pressure on him.

That's why many people feel the pairing comes across as forced and out of character. Also Dante in Netflix looks like a sloppy coward weakling , because he has to be like that so the romance with lady could work

-butcher dante character to try to get him to romance,because he will never give a shit about lady if he's in character /canon compliant

well at least Dante truly care about Vergil in dmc5 but canonically don't give a damn about lady in 5.
