The families in the Mawasi Al-Qarara area are facing unbearable challenges, being displaced from their homes and living under the constant threat of missiles, disease, and starvation. I am creating this post on behalf of my dear friend Engy Shaheen. Engy is a third year university student in Gaza and a choriocarcinoma cancer survivor. “2 million liters of fresh and clean water delivered in North Gaza since mid-June! Today, we are glad to share with you that we reached a new remarkable milestone in North Gaza of delivering 2 million liters of fresh water. That is the equivalent 666,667 3-liter drinking portions of water OR 4 MILLION small water bottles over the course of the past 5 months. Counting today's deliveries we have provided 2,021,000 liters using 314 trucks in total.
The last milestone we set was on September 20th when we reached 1 million liters. This means that we have been averaging around 15,000 liters every single day in North Gaza and we don't plan to stop! With your support we hope to carry on this mission until the day that our support is no longer needed and all infrastructure in Gaza is restored once again.
Until then, we ask you to continue supporting us. Our campaign serves the people of North Gaza with more than just water. a really great organization that i don't see any posts about here is HEAL palestine. it was founded by steve sosebee, who was a founding president of the PCRF before leaving in late 2023 to refocus his efforts on heal palestine to better meet the needs of palestinians impacted by the genocide. the organization provides palestinians in gaza with food, clean water, shelters, "makeshift classrooms," and even medical evacuation for some children when it's possible--their services are pretty wide.
you can donate here if you would like to send a tax-deductible donation to an organization. also, i don't think any evacuations are possible right now, but if you're in the united states and you'd like to welcome medically evacuated children in the future, i highly recommend signing up for their newsletter or following them on social media so you can stay updated in case any children evacuated by HEAL come to your area for treatment. welcoming these kids at the airport is a really moving way to provide them with moral support, entirely for free.
I am creating this post on behalf of two siblings in Gaza named Jana and Mohammed Jouda who are very dear to my heart. Jana is 7 years old and Mohammed is 22 years old. This beautiful family is a family of 6 people. Their home has been destroyed and they have been displaced multiple times. In May 2024 they had to flee Rafah as the tanks were approaching their tent, forced to leave their tent, belongings, blankets, and clothes behind. As winter is approaching, this family urgently needs support! You can support them by donating to their campaign, if possible, and by sharing their campaign! this lets you choose a region (south, central, north) and see which kitchens operate in that area, then donate to as many as you can.
as a reminder, community kitchens try to buy and cook in bulk, which makes ingredients last longer & sustain more people in the conditions of extreme scarcity that Israel is imposing right now. they are also able to serve people on the ground who may not have the means to reach out online.
so, whether through this tool or not, please do support community kitchens, as well as mutual aid groups that cover additional needs, such as the Sameer Project (meals, tents, cash aid, medical aid) and Dahnoun Mutual Aid (meals, tents, baby supplies, cash aid, winter clothes).
