So I hope this pride month, you have fun. I hope you're safe and respected by everyone you meet. I hope you're never addressed by the wrong pronouns, and if you are, the person apologizes and corrects themselves and does better next time. I hope you find labels that make you feel comfortable (or not, if that's not something you want!). I hope you have a successful coming out to your friends or family members. I hope you meet someone who's queer, just like you, and you get to know each other. I hope you remember it's possible to be queer and happy. I hope you see rainbows everywhere and I hope it kicks off the start of a great summer.
Reblog to gain creative energy and to give more creative energy to the person you reblogged this from.
We're getting there little by little, sure. But it's a road.
Anyway happy international asexuality day back to work I go
I don’t know if this is an obvious take or a hot take, but I think people need to start re-framing feminism as the fight for body autonomy as opposed to whatever this second wave revival gender essentialist bullshit we have going on right now. Once you reframe it in this way, it’s easier to understand intersectionality and why cis women are not the only people who need feminism. The lack of body autonomy effects cis women, trans people, intersex people, disabled people, poc, homeless people, sex workers, etc. and your feminism needs to include and prioritise all of these groups of people (which will include men btw) because feminism is about autonomy, not about establishing a matriarchy. Body autonomy is the biggest threat to the patriarchy, both with reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and even the right to not be drafted into military services. Once body autonomy is established for everyone, the patriarchy no longer has a leg to stand on.
And body autonomy does include things that you don’t personally like either. I was prompted to write this post after a series of bad takes from progressives, but one of them was re-hashing the Sabrina Carpenter album cover drama with “I don’t think it’s conservative of me to think that the album cover is a bad look when we’ve seen images of women being abused in this way” because I do actually think you’ve failed to understand feminism by projecting your morals onto a woman who was consensually expressing her own autonomy just because she expressed it in a way that you didn’t like or that made you uncomfortable.
Body autonomy also means unhealthy choices. Body autonomy also means regret rates. Body autonomy also means freedom of sexuality. Body autonomy also means mutilation. If you believe body autonomy has limitations and exceptions, then your feminism is most likely surface level.
TERFs are some of the biggest opponents to body autonomy, and if you find yourself thinking “oh people can do whatever they want with their bodies as long as it doesn’t harm them or make others uncomfortable” then you are far more susceptible to TERF propaganda than you think.
ooooh the radfems are BIG mad about this one

being into some bullshit that nobody cares about and also is stupid really changes you
having unwashed hair will have you believing shit like i can’t be saved
i tend to avoid discourse because most of it is trite and pointless but just this once i feel like i need to state my opinion: i think everyone should bend to my dark and evil will

Reblog and put in the tags a book you like that most people haven’t heard of.
you have permission to pick that 2 year old "abandoned" project back up. it's not mad at you for setting it aside. and maybe time and distance have helped ease or erase the things that made you put it down in the first place.
my devoted but dangerously unstable knight will be hearing about this
I'm not multigender because I think it's "radical" or special. I don't call myself a fagdyke because I think it's fun to say slurs. This is my gender, and it's just as real and personal to me as yours is to you. I am so tired of seeing posts which throw around the spectre of the boygirl fagdyke as someone to be mocked and belittled and not taken seriously, this idea that we are just here to have fun and "look like gremlins," the constant implications that we are choosing this lifestyle because it is fun and easy rather than that this is just a fact of our life which causes people (like you!) not to take us seriously. It's just blatantly transphobic. I'm sorry that you need to take shots at someone else to feel good about yourself, but it is disgusting behaviour.
I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?
Don't become a housewife.
mb if you've spoken on this elsewhere - I find your attitude towards originality in art and "copying"/IP really refreshing. is your anti-fanart stance against the art itself or against "fanart" being considered a coherent category of work?
i don't have an anti fanart stance, i just don't draw it. generally my thought on fanart is that it's Fine but imo a waste of time (for me. for ME) because i don't want to put effort into something that's not mine, and if there's anything in the thing that actually interests me, i know i can just adapt the elements i like elsewhere. i did some pern fanworks because that is something i enjoy but it's very limited and restricted to my own characters within the setting, so i guess i was engaging in it as more of an au of my own work than fanart of any canon characters or things, and that's about as far as i'd go.
i also am supportive of a push against language like 'OC / original character' because it frames original art as a deviation from an assumed fanwork norm.
and that sums up all the thoughts i've ever had about fanart/fanworks. otherwise fandom and fanworks are not interesting to me.
