REVENGE NEVER TASTED SO SWEET . IT HADN’T TAKEN LONG FOR the youngest todoroki to discover what touya had done, his fingers wiping the steam from the mirror in the bathroom to reveal his right side had turned from STARK WHITE to pastel pink. the horror and anger that ran rampart through his veins knew no mercy, and his voice echoed down the halls of his home. ❛ TOUYA ! ! ! ! what did you do to my hair? ❜ there were endless possibilities on how he would enact his revenge — pour all of the salt in his shoes? fill his bed with ice cubes? he’d decide when the anger had settled into his belly to simmer.

my storyline for touya doesnt really fit the canon narrative anymore, nor my new theories for his story, so this blog is just ambiguous as hell now

the question comes in the lull of silence between them. it often fell now, a heavy blanket weighting them down. he didn’t want to talk to her; never wanted to talk to her anymore. but suddenly she’s asking about his heart and feelings and how he has grown to taste bile on his tongue whenever their eyes meet. yes, he hated her. loathed her nearly as much as his father. he’d been robbed of a childhood – robbed of any good memories; now he lives within these walls only to keep his siblings safe from father and mother – from the cracks he’s started to see in her façade, the anger growing in her, about to snap.
but what good would it do her to say that to her now? it wouldn’t change anything. so the boy just shakes his head, turning his gaze anywhere else.
‘ would it really make a difference if i did? ’ and then he pauses, because there’s a question eating at him as well – if there’s any reality to the moments he thinks he sees fear in her eyes when he loses his temper; the same way she looks at endeavor.
‘ – do you hate me? ’

A blink comes as a TRANSITION between looking forward and looking down to the side at the presence now so close by. An icy breath or two dare to push past his lips, one of light amusement and the other of light frustration as he realizes the position he’d been put into.
Touya sometimes did as he pleased, not a care for his poor POORbrother who’d now have to sit here, still as a statue until he woke up ! How cruel ! And Touya’s so warm too ! It feels like he’s huddled against a heater ! He can practically feel the sweat drops running down his face already ! ( you’d shove him off if you weren’t so biased, if he weren’t your brother, if he weren’t so tired looking, if he wasn’t finally so at peace ).
Natsuo smiles gently and his brows furrow together, shifting the normally joyful expression into that of a sad one, holding HAPPINESS somewhere within the background, foggy and murky though ever present.
HE WORKS SO HARD, is a thought in passing and what a ridiculously obvious thing to point out. The bandages his body yields are proof enough of that. Speaking of, the younger of the two notes they need replacing soon. A few look old and worn out, loosely hanging on half-healed half-injured skin as if they were decorations of sorts ( you’ll remind him to change them when he wakes ).
Another gentle breath passes through his lungs and out his mouth as he shifts, leaning the side of his head against his brother’s. After a short while, his own eyes begin to shut as well as he mutters a soft “Sweet dreams, Touya.”

t.ouya harbors a lot of anger towards r.ei. he knows not all of this is justified, but he’s grown to hate her over the years, and blames her for how his life turned out. while his body inherited her physical constitution and was, by all accounts, built for an ice quirk, he also inherited her mental illness.
t.ouya lives with undiagnosed symptoms of schizoaffective disorder; manic type. he experiences peaks and valleys in mood that mimic bipolar disorder, while also experiencing vivid hallucinations – auditory and visual.
jumping off of this, touya was the first person to start to notice rei’s breakdown coming. he was old enough to see it when she started experiencing her anxiety attacks/paranoia, etc. and as the oldest sibling, took it upon himself to try to protect and care for his siblings.
he feels like he never had a chance at a childhood. by the time enji had given up on focusing on him, he was left to saddle the burden of taking care of his mother and siblings. he grows bitter from this, resents his mother for slacking in her role and letting him down, and for not better protecting him. it’s through this, along with the abuse from enji and his predisposition to antisocial behaviors, that he becomes “dabi.”
also, touya has always had an affinity towards death. this was something enji ( discussed with @pyrenji ) noticed in touya from childhood. there was something enji couldn’t pinpoint but could always tell in his eldest son that was deeply wrong about the way he treated life, and the way he viewed right vs wrong. this added to the reasons, beyond just physical incompetence, that enji didn’t choose touya as his “masterpiece” in the end.
This chapter hitted pretty close to home, both in a painful and comforting way.
probably going to revamp this blog and make a theme now that we have more general touya content in the manga!!
