Okay so why are people treating a trans man playing on a womens soccer team in Minnesota as a win. Why are queer news places saying ‘hes making history’ by playing on the women’s team.

‘Trans men are excluded and unsafe on mens teams - so a trans man instead plays on womens team. This is somehow a win and the team releases a statement on how #inclusive they are’ ❓how is this a feel good story

You know whenever I see ‘feel-good’ stories about trans men being in women’s spaces - I really sit and wonder if those spaces allow trans women. Or is the only inclusion they do of trans people when they are still enforcing the sex binary onto trans men.

Because a lot of times I’ve seen ‘womens groups’ go ‘look how inclusive we are! We have one trans man. Oh trans women?…. Uh we dont have any because we dont allow them’

So far I’ve only read two articles that mention the fact he isn’t allowed to play on the men’s team per USL rules and if he wants to continue playing the sport he’s dedicated his life too that he will have to choose between it and hormones.

Everywhere else is just treating this like a win and spouting ‘#inclusivity’. Like yeah saying trans people can only get careers in professional sports if they accept to be misgendered and give up on medically transitioning is soooo #inclusive.
