So if some of you don't keep up with the news (I don't blame you, I hate half of the news channels myself), a teenage boy named Nolan Wells had been missing for a short amount of time after a party in Mississippi with his 3 friends (note: Nolan is a black male, his friends were all white.)
After a search, the 18-year-olds body was found in a river somewhere near a cave (if I remember correctly). Nolan Wells was a football player, and a college freshman.
After the police found him, their first questions were "well was he drinking?" and "was he partying?". Mind you, when a white person goes missing, the first words are "Promising Young Man/Woman" or "Outstanding Athlete" or anything else praising. But when a black person goes missing, the first words are "was he doing drugs?" or "was he drinking heavily?" or "was he partying?" or the most common: "what was he doing?" Normally, you don't see "Outstanding Student Athlete" on the headline of a black teens/adults death, regardless of them being an athlete or not.
The police's first thought should be surrounded by the friends. Why aren't they suspicious of the friends, first? That's what anyone's thought process would be. Secondly, did they even question the said friends? Either way, this is just shitty. I hope the families alright.
