there was a small pile of books she had recently borrowed from the library & another pile of reports waiting to be revised sitting on her desk. in other words, she had lots to do. instead, the pinkette’s mind was straying far from her medical duties & was focused solely on the insistent buzzing phone on her pocket. she was trying very hard to ignore it because she knew exactly who was calling. but there was only so much she could take & it didn’t take long before sakura had to grab her phone & answer it or she’d lose her mind.
“i told you i’m fine already! will you please stop overreacting!!” as if being feverish & a little light-headed would be enough to bring her down. never. "now please let me get back to work, ok? or i swear i’m telling tsunade-sama you’re not letting me work.“

he has to resist the urge to laugh when she mentioned tsunade. she was how he found out that sakura was sick, after all. naruto turns the cart down the next isle, grabbing a couple cans of chicken noodle soup. “yeah, yeah. and kaka-sensei isn’t totally into anko-sensei.” he does laugh a little at that, before continuing. “ ‘sides, i know how you are, sakura-chan. you’ll work yerself to the bone if someone didn’t look out for ya. you have until i get there to finish. which is in about 15 minutes. after that, yer gettin’ that much needed rest!”
naruto hangs up moments after, not allowing sakura to try and resist. knowing her, he muses, she’d try every trick in the book. they’ve known each other since high school. sakura haruno, a student/tutor that his parents hired for him. and over time, they became the best of friends. though, in naruto’s case, he had a teeny, tiny (more like massive) crush on her. he never acted, though. and never planned on it.
he checked out quickly after, and drove to where sakura was. even as a senior, she was working too hard. but, that was all part of her charm. and true to his word, naruto was walking into her office. “saaaaaakuraaaa-chhhhaaaaan~!”
