thats right, they have met before. sora remembered now. it seemed so long ago, when his tiny island was the only place he knew of. he and riku were racing on the island, just a few days after that one stranger had came. riku never told him what happened, he kept saying it was a secret. but sora saw the man make someting appear, and riku touched it. sora challenged riku to another match, and thats when he looked up, and she appeared.

she asked sora to look after riku if something ever happened, to which he agreed to. it seemed she could predict the future, since sora did end up rescuing his best friend from the darkness. there was another time when he’s seen her. Its the cause behind the feeling in his chest. back when he was in the realm of sleep, and kairi had turned into her.

“y-yeah... i did like you asked ‘n looked out for riku. and ‘cause of it, we became keyblade wielders.” he said, hands coming up to wipe away from the incoming tears. he barely knew her, and yet he’s felt like he’s known her for years, and he’s been waiting for her. sora’s shoulders shake as he cries from relief. he never caught her name, but something deep inside of his heart knew the answer.

“i-i’m really glad you’re okay, aqua! i dunno why, but seeing you alive makes me happy..!”

im still alive!

hey everyone, apologies for my absence. the past month was hell. work continues to spiral downwards, one of my pets died, shoveling out more money than needed to pick up the slack at home, and my mom in and out of the hospital. yeah, fun times. i’m hoping to get on some things this week, crank out a reply to estrifes that i owe from forever ago, and maybe update somethin’ on the blog.

good news, though! amidst all the shit life threw at me, it threw a gem of me going to e3 this year!!

Training on the Land of Departure had been one thing – but the scorching heat of the Islands makes it an entirely different experience. Sweat sticks to his skin as tightly as his shirt, beading down his arms, almost making his grip on his weapon slick and loose.

Wiping moisture from his forehead with the back of his other hand, he comes to a stop with training for today. It’s been a long time since he’s had control of his body; getting used to it again is going to take some time. It’s like— sometimes, it doesn’t respond the way he wants it to. And he’s not sure how to feel about that, but he’s working on it.

“Hmm?”

Curiosity’s strong in the tone of his voice, bright blues catching the brunet out of the corner of his eye; a single brow arching, just slightly, in question.

“Finished shopping already?”

sora had spent most of the day shopping. it felt weird, being back to a peaceful life at the islands. no heartless at every corner, no nobodies chasing after you. he hasn’t trained in days. mostly due to him slacking off. he deserved a break, so he was taking it in stride. a few more days here, and then he was off in the gummi ship. his next quest? becoming a fully realized keyblade master.

❝ hm… i should stock up on ice cream. i should get donald and goofy somethin’ too. but what? ❞

terra’s voice catches him by surprise. sora turned to meet his senior, waving and smiling. ❝ oh, hey terra! i’m almost done. i wanted to get the important stuff now. don’t want to run out of stuff after a week! ❞ he gives a preview of what he’s purchased ( mostly potions and ethers. a few accessories, and some food. ) before turning around to the shops. ❝ i’ll probably need kairi’s help, soon. she’s a better shopper than me. what about you, finished training already? ❞

Such enthusiasm is enough to make Terra’s lips twitch, just barely, as he dismisses his weapon in a familiar flicker of Light. Darkness prickles at the corners, small flickers amongst the brightness – but he’s adjusted to it, now. Has accepted it.

❝ Yeah, ❞

Is all he offers for a moment, wiping more sweat from his brow and shifting hair threatening to stick to the sides of his face —- training has been part of his life since he was a little boy, under Master Eraqus’ care; it’s not going to fade from his regime so quickly,

blue orbs lock onto terra’s keyblade. he’s seen it before, on the battlefields ( and he’s fought that weapon, too. ) when it disperses, sora notes the small fragments of darkness. he really did remind him of riku. but, then, his attention is turned to his bags, hefting them with a smile.

❝ donald got mad the last time, cause i didn’t get enough stuff. a lot was stress buying. i didn’t know what to expect on this journey, so i just covered everything.❞ sora gave a sheepish laugh. ❝ it’s going to be fun, though! ❞

❝ what about you, terra? are you three gonna be stayin’ here? or go off to find your old world again? ❞

when the stranger turns to face sora, his head tilts ever-so-slightly. his facial features do resemble ansem and xemnas. and - that portrait that was in the study. that wasn’t the only thing bothering him. when he and sora were face to face, why did his chest ache so much? something did seem familiar about him, though. has sora ran into him before?

you think he’d remember someone who radiated such a power. quiet, but strong. it reminds him of riku, in a way.. he was just about to ask who he was, and has he seen him before. that is, until the stranger speaks his name. and a shard of memory triggers.

he remembered the meeting this person and riku had when they were kids. he remembered because riku wouldn’t tell him. but he saw riku touch some sort of weapon. but there was more to this, this feeling that resonated through the keybearer.

the reason behind this ache, was because he’s seen him, and it feels like he’s been searching for terra. he briefly recalls those nights where he would dream. they’d be quick and murky, but sora made out his face once. and a girl’s.

and then, in the sleeping world. riku had turned into terra. and kairi into that woman.

how his chest felt back then, sora feels now.

❝ terra… i-i know you. i feel like i’ve been looking for you, and that other person that was with you. ❞

This ‘other person’, Terra’s not quite sure of whom this boy is referring to; but it isn’t too important a matter, in a meeting like this. He reminds him of Ven, just a little bit - big bright eyes, curious about the world.

But he’s seen things; it shows in the darkness of those depths, the way they go from bright sunny skies to something almost—- tormented. Or perhaps that’s just Terra’s misconception.

He bites back the wish to inquire as to why this boy is here – he had given his Power to another child, not this one – and the question pricks the edge of his tongue—–

But he’s silent, for a moment, examining.

He’s grown up so much - has it really been that long? And this other person— could it be—-

“You mean a woman?”

If yes, then it must be Aqua – if not, then perhaps this boy has seen Ven; either way, it’s a lead in the right direction as to where he needs to go. Then again - from how he’d said ‘that woman that had been with him’, and ‘looking for you’ - perhaps he hasn’t been any luckier in seeing her since.

And so; he finally asks.

“—And the other boy?”

sora was pondering about terra’s question about the woman. yes, there was a woman with him. blue hair, and eyes like oceans. sora’s seen them both before, on this island. something terra had told riku. and shortly after his visit, that visited. she asked that sora would look after riku if he would ever fall to darkness.

❝ yeah, there was a woman..! i’m still looking for her.❞ he says, staring up to the starry clouds. he knew by looking at him, this was one of the people whose hearts were hurting. and sora was the only person who could help. from what he heard from master yin sid, and the fleeting memories he had, terra was one of three who fought xheanort. but he lost his body in the process.

and yet, here he was, standing right in front of him. before hean ask how did he end up here, terra’s question has sora’s attention. ❝ the other boy... ❞

the memory was fuzzy, but sora remembered when he was a kid, and he felt someone hurting. he took that person’s heart into his, so he could feel better.

could that’ve been that kid? ❝ he’s safe, ❞ sora says, placing a hand over his heart, and a smile full of hope. ❝ i think i know where he is. he’s waitin’ for us to wake him up. ❞
