Summary:

Part 1.5: Kieran struggles to write a letter informing Lauren of his return back to Ardhalis. Part 2: Set five years later, Kieran has at last returned to Ardhalis. Lauren is there to greet him upon his arrival, and the two travel through some of their old haunts, enjoying the company of each other. Part 3: Decades have now passed, and as Lauren and Kieran reach their twilight years, they reminisce on all the things they have done throughout their life - the turmoil and struggles that they have overcome together, as well as the tender moments they’ve had in their relationship as a couple and the unexpected antics of their children.

not necessarily saying it would happen, but i wonder if in season 4 will will learn about rafael being an apostle while lauren’s disappeared. it might be kieran revealing it to will, or will coming to his own conclusions because he’s definitely figured out that rafael is part of the PH, or stefan telling will himself. either way, i think wills gonna figure it out, and then whenever lauren comes back i wonder how he’ll feel about lauren not telling him. we as the readers know that lauren wanted to tell him, but will doesn’t know that, and i wonder if there will be conflict between them because of that. will has been keeping a lot of emotions bottled up, and i wonder if his best friend keeping the fact that his brother is a major part of a terrorist organization a secret from him will be the tipping point for him

There’s that scene on the bridge and Kieran’s confession (because that’s what it was) to Lauren, and I’ll always love it, but then there’s Lauren’s reaction, and that always melts my heart. Her decision to reach out just as Kieran withdraws into himself, the touch of her hand on his, and her effort to comfort him, to assure him that his decision was the right one. Because they both desperately need to hear that they made the right choice; the weight of impossible choices and difficult consequences lies on them like a stone. They need each other to help them bear it.
