◇A study in: Insatiable greed, found family at sea, deals with devils, unobtainable goals.◇
In these seas, Hook nor his crew were not unfamiliar to fellow pirates both ally and enemy in these waters, on the attack or defensive. So when the call was made from their own crows nest of a ship approaching, Captain Hook made the call to arms.
He strode out onto the quarterdeck, glaring and barking orders to make sure cannons and guns were ready for the onslaught. He held out his hand and his telescope seemed to magically appear in his hand.
Looking through the glass, he examined the approaching vessel, it seemed almost otherworldly and that was saying something... Though he was more uneasy at the sight of the crew and its.. Captain?
There was one small detail that likely kept the crew of Vermilion from completely pouncing on the other vessel, and it was a very good thing it had been spotted beforehand. A pirate's flag. True, it made things a little less fun, but it also meant that perhaps Caspian could make some new friends, so to speak.
With a wave of his hand, he motioned for the ship to slow down a bit, the mages controlling the water under their bow drawing back and causing the ship to pull up alongside the other. And Caspian was... waving.
"Greetings fellow flag fliers!" he calls, their ships now just a plank's walk away, "Tell me, to whom do I own the pleasure of running into? Been a moment since we ran into others out at sea."
Irini Karayannopoulou (Greek, 1973) - Little Vanity (2024)
While sailing in unfamiliar waters, the crew of the Vermilion's Venom hadn't seen another ship in quite some time. Even their navigator seemed a little lost. However, their captain seemed more ecstatic than nervous about being somewhere new. Unfamiliar areas meant unexplored places, which often meant hidden treasures. Just the thought had him feeling giddy.
A whistle came from above in the crow's nest as a lookout spotted another ship in the distance, the captain smiling wickedly to himself.
"How delightful...~" he hissed as Vermilion turned and headed towards the other vessel, moving at alarming speed...

“Mutiny!“
“Oh! A knife?“
“Mutiny, Captain.“
“When do we sail?“
“You flatter me, Captain.“
“It’s a pirate’s life for me.”
“Oh, drunk again, are ya?“
“The pirate all pirates fear.“
“Gentlemen, hoist the colors!“
“Why is the rum always gone?“
“Fire that musket and I cuts his throat…”
“Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.“
“Mistook it for a brothel. Honest mistake.“
“Do you even have a ship, a crew… pants?“
“That’s hardly appropriate for the first mate.“
“I thought pirates had talking parrots as pets.“
“Come to join my crew, lad? Welcome aboard!“
“That’s not true. I am not obsessed with treasure.”
“There should be a ‘Captain’ in there somewhere.”
“That will be 40 lashes and then you walk the plank.“
“And upon a sudden, I hear an ungodly row on deck.“
“Cabin boys should learn to mind their own business.“
“It means that all that treasure is only a boat ride away!“
“You are, without doubt, the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of.“
“But, my arms were free and my sword was still in my hand.“
“If I don’t kill a man every now and then, they forget who I am.“
“So, can you sail under the command of a pirate, or can you not?“
“Captain, I wish to report a mutiny. I can name fingers and point names.“
“Without the map, we’re dead. If we try to leave, we’re dead. If we stay here…“
“Me? I’m dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest.“
“I thought I should give you fair warning, we’re taking the ship. Nothing personal.“
“Aye, mutiny. And what fate befall mutineers? Now, we know the answer to that, do we not?“
“This is undoubtedly the seediest bunch of cutthroats, villains and scoundrels I have ever seen.”
“You got the makings of greatness in you, but you got to take the helm and chart your own course.“
“They will see the flash of our cannons, and they will hear the ringing of our swords, and they will know what we can do!”
PotC: The Curse of the Black Pearl {Sentence Starters}
“You cheated!”
“Very well. I’ll drop it.“
“Yes it is, I’ve seen it.“
“I recognize this ship!”
“Why is the rum gone?”
“You know nothing of hell.“
“I’m in the market, as it were.“
“You’re supposed to be dead!”
“No! Not good! Stop! Not good!“
“Stop blowing holes in my ship!”
“This dock is off-limits to civilians.”
“I told you he was telling the truth.“
“Pirate or not, this man saved my life.“
“This is either madness… or brilliance.“
“We’re going to steal a ship? That ship?“
“I didn’t steal it, if that’s what you mean.“
“Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.”
“I want you to leave and never come back.“
“You’ve only got one shot, and we can’t die.“
“So, this is where your heart truly lies, then?“
“That’s got to be the best pirate I’ve ever seen.“
“A wedding? I love weddings! Drinks all around!“
“No. I cannot just step aside and let you escape.“
“Everyone, stay calm, we’re taking over the ship!“
“That’s why there’s no sense to be killing you, yet.“
“That’s not true… I am not obsessed with treasure.“
“Put it away, son. It’s not worth you getting beat again.“
“Good man, good pirate. I swear you look just like him.”
“You best start believing in ghost stories. You’re in one!“
“I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request. Means ‘no’.”
“If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it.“
“Lower your weapons. For goodness sake, put them down.“
“You are, without a doubt, the worst pirate I’ve ever heard of.”
“Well, that’s not much incentive for me to fight fair, then, is it?“
“It would never have worked out between us, darling. I’m sorry.“
“I want you to know that I was rooting for you, mate. Know that.“
“The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.”
“No survivors? Then, where do the stories come from, I wonder?“
“I am here to negotiate the cessation of hostilities against _____.”
“So, can you sail under the command of a pirate, or can you not?“
“I practice three hours a days so, when I meet a pirate, I can kill it.”
“But pirate is in your blood, so you’ll have to square with that some day.”
“Do you really think there is even the slightest chance they won’t see it?“
“I thought I had you figured. But, it turns out you’re a hard man to predict.“
“Fine. Well, I suppose if it is worthless then there’s no point in me keeping it.“
“One good deed is not enough to save a man from a lifetime of wickedness.“
“We are not among the living, and so we cannot die. But, neither are we dead!”
“You didn’t beat me. You ignored the rules of engagement! In a fair fight, I’d kill you!“
“Borrowed… borrowed without permission, but with every intention of bringing it back.“
“And how does a maid come to own a trinket such as that? Family heirloom, perhaps?“
“The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can’t do.“
“Do you have the courage and fortitude to follow orders and stay true in the face of danger and almost certain death?”
“For too long, I’ve been parched of thirst and unable to quench it. Too long I’ve been starving to death and haven’t died.“
“That’s what a ship is, you know. It’s not just a keel, and a hull, and a deck, and sails, that’s what a ship needs but what a ship is… is freedom.”
“Me, I’m dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. I mean honestly, it’s the honest ones you have to watch out for.“
"I'm marvelous, intelligent, so why doesn't that make me feel better??"
"You say you wanna tear right through me? Oh I welcome you to try~"
