Social, Ethical and Legal Responsibilities in the use of Technology Tools and Resources (PART III)
âMy personal experience in handling technology toolsâ
It is undeniable that technology is perhaps the strongest factor shaping the educational landscape today. Way back when I was young living in a province, it isnât a big deal. We are purely dependent with the traditional way of learning. I fully realized the digital age when I reached my Junior High School. Out of curiosity, I enrolled PC Hardware and Software Servicing Major in our TLE subject. We were herded into the computer rooms and seated in front of our designated PCâs. There, our instructor demonstrated the computer, its uses and everything.Â
Adapting change isnât that easy especially when youâre not bombarded with technologies upon growing up. For me, computers were just tools to get done. Up until I hooked up with the idea that it has multiple use and functions. From acquisition of new technology equipment to adaptation of teaching techniques to incorporate new educational tools; it is really significant. As technologies emerging and evolving, I learned not only how to use the program but also design fundamentals not by reading it out of a book. Therefore, it is very important to use technology as a learning tool not just a cool new thing.
How can I apply this new learning in the future?
As a future teacher, attempting to integrate technology in the classroom would be a great platform for my learners to explore more of our modern society. It would be great if there is a feasible implementation of technology in teaching and learning. Given the abundance of available educational technology, it is essential that I should feel comfortable and confident about technologyâs ability to use them effectively. I can use technology variations throughout the curriculum or to complement a specific lesson to integrate lessons. Although technologies can be powerful means to improve learning, the teacher remains the critical factor to student success.
âMy experience under this CourseâÂ
This course serves as an eye opener, an eye opener that itâs not a substandard to adapt technologies to integrate learning by not focusing on traditional learning itself. Adapting change isnât fatal at all when teacherâs desire for their students is to learn effectively that drives classroom and student improvement. Educational Technology is actually effective and essential. In general, this subject taught me things that are far from what Iâve already known. Aside from the enjoyment and fun, the effectiveness and efficiency of this course imprints in my memory. Above all, I am learning not just for my own benefit but for me to use and apply it in the near future.
âWays to improve Instructional Activitiesâ
Instructional Activities specify how the teacher and students will participate and how they will interact with materials and content. It plays a vital role in a classroom teaching. But how are we going to improve it? I would like to share to you some ways on how to improve Instructional Activities based on my learning from the subject (Educational Technology).
Choose engaging but meaningful Activities - engaging students in the learning process increases their attention and focus, motivates them to practice higher-level critical thinking skills, and promotes meaningful learning experiences.
Appropriate Instructional resources - it can identify and implement appropriate teaching strategies that can address the identified difficulties the learners are experiencing.
Using of Assessment -Â the ability to assess and respond to the instructional needs of individual students is a basic understanding to gauge relevant strengths and needs in a learnerâs acquisition.
Integrate Portfolios - it will compliment observation process nicely that provides more clarity and detail on instruction over the entire class in order to improve instructional effectiveness.Â
