Get off social media. Live in the moment. Put down your phone. Statements like these are heard more and more often nowadays. Many agree and think people are spending too much time looking at our phones and computers. This media we call social, is anything but.

Music video director Gary Turk strongly believes its time to spend more time connecting with one another. The result is 'Look Up', a lesson taught through a love story. This powerful online video is already being viewed over 20 million times in less than 2 weeks. Now that's what we call the power of social media ;-).

We're nominated for the EMEA SABRE Awards!

We have some great news to share today! Together with our partner Coebergh Communicatie & PR, we received three nominations for the prestigious EMEA SABRE Awards. With our campaign for Rituals’ Laughing Buddha we are up against stellar brands like Instagram and Procter & Gamble in the categories ‘Brand-Building’ (Diamond Award), Industry Sector ‘Fashion & Beauty’ (Gold Award) and 'Marketing Buzz' (In2 Award).

SABRE is the world’s largest awards competition for the public relations industry. The SABRE Awards celebrate PR campaigns that demonstrate the highest levels of creativity, integrity and effectiveness. This year there were close to 2,400 entrants from more than 40 markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

So fingers crossed for the award ceremony on May 20th in London!

The past months, the Dutch Road Service was prepared for what meteorologists predicted would be "a horror winter". On the first day of Daylight Savings Time (or: Summer Time), we look back at the service's toughest season of the year.

We created a short film with Kees as main character, a road service man at heart, who stays hopeful for a cold front till the very end...

A powerful story combined with the power of social media

This video is a perfect example of how a powerful story, combined with the power of social media can reach over 7 million people in a short amount of time. An Ukrainian girl tells the intruiging story about the situation in her country in the beginning of 2014. Her story went viral and got shared over 86.000 times in only 12 days.

Such a beautiful image. Could this be a group of people taking a selfie? Of perhaps a picture of the moon? Not quite.

African migrants on the shore of Djibouti city at night, raising their phones in an attempt to capture an inexpensive signal from neighboring Somalia—a tenuous link to relatives abroad. Djibouti is a common stop-off point for migrants in transit from such countries as Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea, seeking a better life in Europe and the Middle East.

The storytelling image beat out more than 98,000 others to nab the top spot. Jury member Jillian Edelstein, a South African-born but UK-based photographer, said, "It's a photo that is connected to so many other stories -- it opens up discussions about technology, globalization, migration, poverty, desperation, alienation, humanity.

"It's a very sophisticated, powerfully nuanced image. It is so subtly done, so poetic, yet instilled with meaning, conveying issues of great gravity and concern in the world today."

THE GAP by Ira Glass

From art-director Daniel Sax who pulled the audio from am already well-known (and terrific) interview with Ira Glass and transformed it into a beautiful piece of visual storytelling.

I made it for myself and for anybody who is in doubt with his/her creative career. I also think that Ira Glass' message isn't only limited to the creative industry. It can be applied to everyone who starts out in a new environment and is willing to improve.

The ANWB Wegenwacht Service explains everything you need to know!

We went on an exciting journey with the Dutch motoring organisation ANWB, by creating an appealing and instructive 'how-to' video-series for the public. In the videos, relevant experts from the Wegenwacht (road service men) give helpful advice about what to do when your car has mechanical problems, or simply if you're uncertain about something. The videos answer questions such as: What to do when my car won't start? or How to prepare my car for a freezing night? 

ANWB and Vertov worked together to create strong storytelling content, delivering useful information online - in a personal and entertaining way. A great extension of the ANWB Wegenwacht's famed service for car owners, now just as effective online.
