Deleted scene of what followed the campfire scene in My Own Private Idaho (1991) directed by Gus Van Sant, where Mike Waters, played by River Phoenix, confesses his love for his best friend Scott Favor, played by Keanu Reeves. The campfire scene was written entirely by River Phoenix himself, and the director Gus Van Sant confirmed it was River who wanted his character to be in love with Keanu’s character, and the scene today is considered to be the first LGBTQ+ love confession scene in cinema.

The clip above was used in My Own Private River (2012), a re-contextualized version of Van Sant’s original film, directed by James Franco as tribute to River Phoenix.

Robin’s art moves between surrealism, beauty and the grotesque, exploring the intersections of the human figures and animal nature. Compositions that seem to be inspired by all eras, a journey that could start in mythology and Roman goddesses following the Victorian Gothic, the romanticism of the twenties, and the unfiltered sensuality of the incandescent sixties.Robin makes fantastic collages centered on the human-animals. Have you ever thought that in their last Vegas scene Boris (just maybe!) gave Theo the drug not only to make him feel better but also to make him... talk? He immediately said — this is different, it’ll sober you up, clear your head — because he probably tried something like that before and knew the affect and the way it works on you. And maybe... as he realized it was probably the last time they saw each other... he wanted to make Theo finally open up? About things that truly matter. But even under the influence of drugs Theo stopped himself. He was truly relieved that he’d stopped himself from blurring the thing that they both knew well enough. But for some reason I tend to believe Boris didn’t.
